I'll work on digging up a litho or two to post here, they're mighty old, and I've working in silverpoint vs printmaking due to space/studio time/etc. @BrianH - at a certain point, the payoff isn't enough when it comes to salary and your well-being (commute time, time off, and stress levels), it does sound like you are better off!!!

What would a good litho tattoo be, I wonder @Pugilist? I still have all of my project prints from Tamarind!

We did indeed meet at litho school, Tamarind to be exact. @semele - is that the school you were thinking of, and do you go to Kent U? Tamarind is a GREAT school/program. They are in a fancy new building, can't go wrong with that! If you are getting stones now, get a leather roller, it's totally worth it! I just sold mine because it was sitting on a shelf being neglected, and I thought it would be better to have it used than to sit on a shelf being sad.

@semele @Pugilist Did someone say litho?! I LOVE litho!!! Stone litho with tusche washes all the way baby! Been ages since I've printed though, thankfully my husband does it for work, and I can live vicariously through him. He won't print for me because it turns into an argument as to how things should be done, haha. We actually met at lithography school, so litho will always hold a special place in my heart :o

I still take herbs to keep me relaxed and to help me sit well. I don't get tattooed as often as I like, around once every 9-12 months, so am usually fairly nervous and need the extra push to stay relaxed for better pain management - especially with lining sessions.

I like Crispin's ciders right now, Woodpecker's pear cider is nice (so is Doc's.) There was a really nice French pear cider that I had out not that long ago, but I can't remember the name of it! Oops.

I understand what you are saying. I'm with scubaron on this one in that I'm still newish to tattoos, and I'm really into Jondix and Mike the Athens' work right now (doodoodoodoo... weird) I don't much care about the name so much as whether or not the particular tattooer's work speaks to me, if the work speaks to me then going out of my way isn't a problem. The visions have to mesh, no matter who is doing the tattooing (famous, not, etc.)

I remember seeing something from Yoni a while back on instagram... it was a nice black/grey tattoo on a woman, sat squarely in the middle of her back, started off with one portion (I think a sword) then grew as things were added. Not a full back piece. Looked really nice.

I understand scubaron's desire to start working on the back. I was thinking about getting something put at the bottom of my back with room to do some more work on the upper part. I then decided that I was rushing it and it was better to wait than have the tattooer have to figure something out to accommodate an existing piece later down the road. This isn't a very helpful response, sorry scubaron.

I'm with Pugilist on this one - it's a long walk, and with limited time to "do" things, it might not be a priority to spend almost 2 hours walking from one place to another.

Rides are $2.50 each, no matter weekend or weekday, on the subway and bus via a Metrocard (there are kiosks in nearly every station that take cash and/or credit/debit cards.) Express buses are more expensive - I doubt you'll have to worry about those. I recommend getting a pay per ride, put $19.05 on it (gives you 8 rides and no balance on the card.) Getting around the subway is not a problem - get a good map, research ahead of time, you'll be fine. It's just like going to other places in the world: learn the lay of the land and you'll be fine. Mta.info has postings re: weekend and weekday subway alerts, sevice changes, etc. Google maps are fairly reliable for subway directions (again, check mta.info for service changes - especially on the weekends or in the middle of the night.) - - - Updated - - - Hahaha @daveborjes - I think my mother in law re-reads that pamphlet every time she comes here...

I'm so sorry Mark. I was going to bitch about my "worst week ever" at work (I didn't get fired, but everything upon everything was going wrong, I was late to everything, and had migraine and post-migraine symptoms for the entire week which definitely affected my work-performance.) I'll chalk it up to a bad week and hope that this upcoming week will be better, can't win 'em all...

I hear ya @Mick Weder! I think it pisses the tattooers off as well, probably because I get distracted and then we lose our working rhythm, my breathing gets all messed up, etc.

You should also check out Deb Yarian, Junii, Jill Bonny and subscribe to Things and Ink magazine. And, of course, get tattooed by great artists so you learn from how they work.
