  7. I don't have a photo of it to hand, hence why I didn't include it on the original post. Suffice to say it's a 3/4 finished, half sleeve, tribal piece done by one of his mates when drunk. It didn't come out so well, as you might imagine. The guy has been wanted it sorted for years but didn't have the money to get it done properly until now.
  8. Cheers for the replies. I sent him the way of Family Business but they weren't very helpful. He's been in touch with Matt Black at Good Times and he seems to be on board so maybe the problem is sorted! Thanks again for any advice - I've sent him the way of Stewart @ Modern Classic as well so he has another option.
  9. Haha. Yeah. I only have two tattoos and I love both far too much to cover them up.
  10. Hey all, Sorry if there's already a thread for these kind of questions, but couldn't find anything after a quick search. A good friend of mine desperately wants to get a cover up of a tattoo he had done by a mate back when he was 17. Thing is, he's gone into a few shops here in London and has pretty much been laughed off the premises. Is this a normal thing? Do tattooers and parlours frown upon the idea of a cover-up? So now he doesn't know what to do and feels like a bit of a tool for even asking. I was just hoping for some advice from the Last Sporrow community and/or some recommendations of tattooers in the UK who will at least listen to what he wants/has to say rather than making him feel like a d**k! Cheers all
  11. Got this started last Wednesday by Mike Stockings, he was guesting at Black Garden Tattoo in London. Few more sessions to go and other bits and pieces to add! Super happy with how it's started.
  12. Had 5 hours on my right arm yesterday. I'm already fed up of wrapping it up. That is all.
  13. Wow. They may as well have sent my Mum down there.
  14. One summer's Friday down the pub after work with friends the conversation turned to tattoos as a 'celebrity' had recently posted photos of her tattoos (roses over both butt cheeks) and it had been all over the papers. One girl at the table went off on a massive rant, something along the lines of "How could someone disfigure themselves like that? It's disgusting." I'm sat there with shorts on sporting my brand new calf tattoos so decide to call her up on it. "So you're saying that I've disfigured myself by getting tattoos?" I ask, as nicely as possible. So began the furious back-peddling. "No, your tattoos are different!" and "That's not what I was trying to say at all!" Which I didn't believe for a second. I also had a weird one from my Mum when talking about one of my sessions. Referring to the tattoo parlour, she asks: "But doesn't it get a bit smelly in there?" After inquiring what the hell she was on about, it turned out she thought that part of the tattoo process involved burning the skin!
  15. Parts of it were much more painful than others, but overall not too bad at all! Worst bit definitely over the back of the knee joint! It's just about bearable.
  16. Been a couple of months since I got my first ones finished. So happy with them, Dalmiro did an awesome job. So I guess it's time to start planning the next one?! R
  17. Just about 14 hours and it's done!
  18. 3rd session completed, probably 4/5 more hours to go!
  19. Never a truer word has been spoken! The rest of the tattoo has healed fine now (two weeks later) but the ditch is still scabbed and itchy. At least I know what to expect in a couple of months time when I get the other one done!
  20. Thanks @iowagirl! I rang the tattoo parlour and had a chat with the front of house manager. He said it's pretty common and can last a little while so that allayed any worries I had. Guess it's just a weekend of relaxing in front of the telly with my foot up! R
  21. I got a calf tattoo four days ago. The day after the tattoo, whilst at work, my leg and ankle swelled up which I thought was pretty normal for the healing process. Thing is, my ankle is still swollen now. I'm sure it's not an infection or anything as the tattoo is healing nicely, there's no soreness and it's starting to peel. Just hoping that four days of cankle is not something I should worry about and it should pass pretty soon? Cheers R
  22. Interesting thread as so many people have differing attitudes towards tattoos in the work place. My parents' initial reaction to my wanting tattoos was to immediately tell me that you can't get a 'proper' job if you have tattoos, especially if they are on show. Years later, I work in a top ad agency in London where they couldn't care less if you have tattoos or not and certainly don't mind if you have them on show at work! I only just started my first tattoo, but colleagues of mine have plenty on show all the time and it's not a problem at all. At the end of the day, tattoos are becoming more acceptable in society as a whole so attitudes in workplaces are changing with that. Maybe it helps that I'm in a more relaxed work environment.

    Hi all.

Thanks! I tried posting it up in another thread as well - should I just post again or wait for the original post to be approved? Cheers again R
