  1. my daughter and I just auditioned for the summer play. I had to SING in front of people who are not preschoolers. We both sang Soft Kitty.
  2. EEEEEK Kittahs! And a leeeezard omg how cuuute! The fattest tail and suuuuch a face! my head might explode from the cutes.
  3. I dunno so much as it was a "compliment" exactly but last year when I got my feet covered, I spent that week of school walking around barefoot (well, limping like the Hunchback). One of our preschoolers came to school and had used marker to color all over the tops of his feet. I just thought it was cute. Lately the kids have been coming to school w/the press on w/water ones, all over their arms, chest, etc, and I'm the first one they want to run and show when they come to school, so we have a "compare" session.
  4. Two of our tortoiseshells, Clementine Isabelle is the stretchy kitty and Goose Mirabelle is the one w/more orange on her face. Both shelter kitties. Our first cat before we got married was a tortoiseshell, a stray who used a barn on the property where my husband used to live to hide from the coyotes. I used to feed her, and JD said if she could get along w/the dogs he'd let her be in the house. He came home from hunting the next day to find me curled up on the couch w/his three pit bulls and his new cat, by then named Bella Jo. She was amazing, and we had her until a few years ago. She was about 11 when she died, and left such a hole in my heart I went and got Clem, and then Goose. Their middle names are a nod to my Bella. We have a third tortie, Britta Rose, who we got from my parents after we got married-she's a crotchety 12 years old now. We also have a grey and white named Opilio Jo. I love kitties.
  5. @HaydenRose yay for adopting a dog! What kind are you going to get? I finally got JD to agree that next summer is a good time for us to get a new dog. We've got a lot going on this summer, plus if I go back to school that's more on our plate, so it's just too soon. We had a red pitbull for many years, and she has been gone since 2008. It's been hitting me the last few months how much I miss her so that's what we will be looking for. I have about a year to research rescues and shelters. Had my first ever mammogram yesterday and they called today that I need to go back up for an ultrasound tomorrow, there are some spots that are "different". The first thing that popped in my head (other than I'm getting my hair done today so it has to wait till tomorrow) was Dammit there better not be anything wrong b/c I'm not missing my tattoo appointment! there will be some serious tattoo getting before any treatments, if it comes to that, hahaha!
  6. Women go to extreme measures to force their bodies to fit some...whatever, some stupid image that mostly males have foisted upon us that we are less, we're unworthy, if we don't look like this specific ideal. Anorexia, bulimia, eating cotton balls, exercising for hours, surgeries, heck yeah body image is a big part of our lives. Our every day lives, it's all around us, constantly. Men telling us what we can/can't do to *our* bodies, actually trying to pass LAWS to govern what males feel we should and shouldn't do..you know what after a while it gets to be a little fricking old. We're told and it's pretty much beaten into us, from a young age, little girls in elementary school, how we don't fit in w/other girls, and it never quits. Until you've been a girl, a girl who doesn't have a "perfect" body, perfect clothes, perfect hair, perfect skin, perfect teeth, a girl who has looked in the mirror and wished she was dead b/c of how she looks and how others treat her, until you've had your body completely taken over and warped from having kids and nursing, I think maybe a person should just shut their pie hole about how women should and shouldn't feel and how body image is portrayed.
  7. Driving to Arizona many years ago, was in a bathroom stall at a rest stop and a little girl and her mom were in a stall next to me. A little hand came under the stall and touched Tigger on my ankle. Outside, the mom chased me down b/c her daughter wanted to see it again. The little girl was so excited that someone else loved Tigger too.
  8. Why is it such a big deal to someone else if a man or woman of a certain body type got one or more tattoos that someone else feels doesn't "fit" their body type? It should be none of your nevermind what someone else tattoos on their body, shouldn't it? I'm reminded of the little girl on youtube buckling her seat belt. "you worry about yourself"
  9. May 18th Big Brain in Omaha to get my arm band covered and we'll talk about adding peonies on my back. My husband is getting some sort of armor looking deal on his shoulder. YAY!
  10. It didn't work out w/the place I was planning on going, so am talking w/another shop. Sent pictures yesterday of the arm band so hopefully soon will hear back and can get something going.
  11. Sad. The artist we planned on going to opened his book today for the next three months and we are having a blizzard so are unable to drive the 2.5 hours to the shop to book with them. He said he would call at the end of the day if he had anything left. Looking at a few other shops just in case. Bah.
  12. The guy who did my last few has moved, so I'm trying a friend of his on his recommendation. I'll see how it goes-it seems weird to go to someone else, since I'm pretty comfortable w/Timm by now. And it's nice w/Timm that this last time I just facebooked him and asked if he was back in town, and he got me in w/out having to call the shop or run up and leave a deposit. Hopefully this new artist and I will have a good fit too. I'll still continue to see Timm when he's back in town as well.
  13. I think the more professional people who have tattoos, the better... um.."face"(?) it puts on tattoos in general. I've had people seem completely dumbstruck that I have tattoos. I "don't seem the type", they've said. I feel like if there are professional people with tattoos, and the work is covered, and they have dealings with people who don't like/understand/appreciate etc, tattoos, finding out later on that that person has tattoos could then be a light bulb moment that tattooed people aren't crazy/bikers/weird/deadbeats/trashy/scary/whatever else others think. I've had people when they do finally see mine, have that initial "oh, you have tattoos?" reaction, the uncertainty on their faces, and usually it ends up in some sort of conversation. Most of my coworkers think I'm crazy for purposely enduring pain, and that's fine, so long as my work and ability w/the kids isn't called into question. The other teachers will wear sleeveless shirts during the super hot/humid days, and I'm not sure I will, just b/c I don't want them to be a distraction to the kids, or the parents. (tho one of the boys used them to count last year) I have short almost cap sleeved shirts that they poke out of. The kids don't pay the slightest bit of attention, they like to touch and ask about them. The kids accepted them immediately, it's just part of Miss Missi, just like my Dr. Seuss shirts. Most of the parents don't pay attention...the ones that did kind of give an eyebrow raise see how much I adore their kids and it becomes a non-issue.
  14. Gah, heard back from the artist, he opens his book for March/April/May on March 1st. He said when he opened the book for the past three months it filled in 1.5 days. JD's only going to get a couple hours sleep before he has to get up so we can run down there and book asap. But I sent him a couple pics of my armband and he's confident he can cover it, so yay!
  15. Been in contact w/Dave Koenig of Tenth Sanctum Tattoo in Omaha about getting some work done on my arm/shoulder in April. He wants to look at the arm band first, so we're hoping to make a quick trip next weekend so he can check it out and see what we can do, and JD will be talking to another artist in the shop about getting something as well. Fingers crossed the armband isn't going to be a pain in the rear to fix/cover!
  16. bahahaha that video made me laugh so hard..I wish they were addicted to like..some sort of fashion sense. Or belts. Not so much the strange Iron Sheik headdress. Do people actually like...pay these people to get tattoos and smoke dope and look stupid? To me that just perpetuates the bad tattoo myths non tattooed people have of people with tattoos.
  17. when is your tattoo scheduled? get some cream and start putting it on your shoulder/back at night now, to keep it clear/keep them from starting-that's what I'd do.
  18. Thanks! I'm going to be almost 40 when I go back! That seems so crazy, to be a...what..44 year old new teacher? I'm assuming it's a 4 year degree. Oof da. I read in Dear Abby years ago, a woman wanted to go back to school to be a Dr. and was upset that by the time she'd be done w/her 8 years of school , she'd be 50 (or whatever), and the reply was "Wouldn't you be 50 anyway?" I'm trying to keep that in mind, haha!
  19. Sooooo my husband and I've been talking about it..I'm going to look into going back to school this summer and getting my teaching degree. Scary, it's been a loooooong time since I've been in school.
  20. How old are you, Jnvlv? We're going to be getting more work done soon and will be needing my parents to watch the kids overnight so we can travel. They're not going to be happy and probably will have something to say about it. However-we're 39 years old, and I'm long past worrying if my parents will approve of my decisions. Don't give them the power of making decisions or forcing guilt on you-take it upon yourself to control your own life, put the parent shield up and let the guilt hit it and fall away.
  21. Nope, sure wouldn't. Neither of my kids has expressed a desire for tattoos, but even if they did, no.
  22. I messaged him and he gave me the name of a guy in Omaha-I looked him up and like his work so yay! My husband was dubious about it being proper to go somewhere else, so I'm glad I asked. The shop I'd been looking at down there, the recommended guy is actually from there, just in a different shop now, so I thought that was a funny coincidence!
  23. Maybe some sort of histamine reaction? My ankles do this now and again, but they will have raised spots, like along the outline of an area. Doesn't happen often, doesn't hurt and doesn't seem to cause any problems, so I just ignore it. If it's super itchy tho and you're scratching till you bleed...yeah that sounds like a bigger deal and should probably be checked out.
  24. Eh, I took it. I'm going out on a limb that Charlotte does not have tattoos nor know any tattooed people. I don't know how a person could get a whole paper out of that survey. "Do you like your tattoos" Yes. "Why" They're pretty. "Will you get more tattoos" Yes. "Why" I like them. No matter-I like surveys and quizzes. This is how I found out I am a Corgi. And I'm Leonard Hofstadter. I'm an Autumn, and Idealistic Healer.
