  1. JD was like that too. Sooo not a fan of cats. He had his three pit bulls when we were dating and that's all he wanted. He knew how much I loved cats, and one day he and his friend were going hunting and saw a cat crossing a field. His friend was going to shoot it and JD told him not to b/c he knew how upset I would be. Well, that cat ended up in JD's garage/shed, hiding from the coyotes. I used to feed it. The screen door didn't have a screen/glass, so when you'd open the inside door, there was this cat balancing in the tiny ledge, wanting to come in. (was winter time) I asked if I could bring her in and he's like whatever, as long as she gets along w/the dogs I don't care. So he came back from hunting that day and I was curled up on the couch reading a book w/the three dogs, and the cat was laying in the middle of them. His jaw about hit the floor. She was the funniest cat, always messing w/the dogs, and she changed his mind on cats. She was a tortoiseshell, and after she died, I had such a hole in my heart. I found a tortoiseshell at a shelter and adopted her, even tho JD said no. The funny thing is, she was brought to the shelter right about the time Bella started getting sick. And she is acts so much like Bella it's uncanny. There are a few differences, but she is very much like Bella brought back. I didn't get her hoping to replace Bella, that would be impossible, but she has healed me in her own way. I think I shared that story earlier in the thread but...I've had a sad day missing my kitty and Sadie so wanted to tell it again.
  2. I sat four hours to get both my feet done together. Hobbled around after and didn't know a persons feet could swell like that w/out exploding. Interesting to say the least. I only had the next day off work and then had to go back, so that sucked. My feet and ankles have healed slower, w/more seeping, swelling and those muscle twinges when walking, than my arms/back.
  3. @coloredguy, sending good thoughts to you and your wife. I'm sorry.
  4. I admit to watching the tattoo reality shows now and again. Ami James was on Tattoo Titans now and again and I find him hot...soooo....There is a "tattoo model" that judges on that show as well, and yanno, I gotta admit that I spend just as much time staring at her as I do Ami. I like looking at tattooed women. There. I like to see how the lines follow the body, and I don't care how tall/short/thin/fat a person is considered. I enjoy tattooed bodies. So yeah, I'll probably check this tattoo model show out. Don't judge me.
  5. Sending you lots of positive thoughts, @MadeIndelible. Recognizing the need for help, asking for it and taking the steps to get it takes a lot of guts, and I'm glad for you.
  6. Heck yeah! I wish there were more providers around here w/tattoos. Or..well, any. Besides, if you have a Doctorate of something, I kinda think that means you iz smart. Who gives a shit if you have tattoos-you trump them b/c you are a Doc-tor. Professional people w/tattoos, in my eyes, serve to help beat down the stereotypes. The tattoos are a part of who you are and speak to who you are as a person.
  7. Didn't get done today. I think one more session should finish the shading and get the color in. Feck was it getting tender. Has a lot more detail to it than I thought it would have, but I'm not complaining! And holy balls on cleaning it when we got home. I about came unglued a couple times and I can handle some shit. It is SO red and swollen hahahahaha oh Lordy the only thing you can do is laugh and wonder why you're so damn dumb to do such things to yourself. Got it done at Big Brain in Omaha, Dominic did mine, and Josh is working on JD's. I'll post his next. The peony on the inside of my arm is going to be so gorgeous-I wish it was on the outside! I better lose about 30lbs so I can just walk around and flex my arm all day to show it off. Will be adding to it, at least to curve around the frog (he's staying-I love frogs- but maybe he will be freshened up since he's kinda old) and meet the cherry blossom in the middle of the back of my neck. When that is done I will decide if I want to continue the theme around the cherry blossoms and down the other arm, or leave it and just add a few more blossoms and some wind on that arm instead. I never planned to go that low either, on the arm. I feel like a bad ass. - - - Updated - - - JD's. One more session on his, and then he will decide what he wants to do, to expand it to his elbow, and I think he will put something across the top of his back and connect it down the other arm to the elbow.
  8. OMG @TrixieFaux I am totally girl crushing on your arm this moment.
  9. Our appt's are tomorrow!! SO excited!! I have no clue exactly what we're doing, and it's an artist I've never gone to before but I liked what I saw in his portfolio on the shops website. We've each got a different artist and 4 hours, which includes our talk time and design time.
  10. hahahaha wow being out in the Iowa boonies means I'm pretty out of the loop I gotta say. Basic will probably hit us ohhhh what, next year maybe? Not worried, 4 out of 119.
  11. JD and I get our next tattoos on the 18th and that's coming up faaaast so am super 'cited about that. We are starting a small business from home for hopefully a bit of extra cash flow, and his shop is almost done. Then onto the kitchen remodel. We also are into landscaping and thrilled that it's getting nice out finally so we can work in the yard and maybe have a little spare time to redo some of the beds. Next summer comes the big job of tearing out the entire front yard to turn it into a flower garden. Have also been added to a few more scenes in the play which is exciting but also freaking the shit out of me.
  12. We're not in a position yet either. I always am looking tho!
  13. You should've seen my husband's face-he was so touched, and he's a scowly grrrrr kinda guy, to see that look was really something. He went on duty tonight in such a good mood! I found her on FB and messaged her to see, and it was her.
  14. We went out to eat tonight and someone paid for our meal. My husband had seen a woman in there earlier who had had a house fire last year and he was the responding officer. Everyone was sleeping and he managed to get them out. We're guessing that's who it was. Such a nice gesture-usually he has to hem and haw about where to eat in town so nobody spits in it.
  15. Ohhh I love it! I do however have to say that I hate how beautiful you are w/no make up. I'm giving you the narrow side eye right now.
  16. Had our first official play rehearsal..not being able to read music is a bit of a hindrance hahahaha! Luckily my lead teacher at work is in it and her husband is the director so she's going to help me figure things out. I thought being in the chorus meant I'd just be standing there singing-cuz that's what we did in 7th grade chorus. um...sooowwaaa yeahno. Movement. And singing at the same time-and I'm one of the prostitutes, so I will have to be cozying up to the sailors..and doing this all whilst not laughing at the absurdity of myself on stage. The rest of the cast is completely amazing, vocally, so the dying wildebeest on stage will not be noticed. Aaaand I had a second opinion on my iffy first ever mammogram and ultrasound, didn't get the 100% all clear, but got as close to that as it can be, so that took a huge load off our minds! And I totally want to see your hair, Trixie!
  17. I did the proctor exam over the weekend and found out today I was awarded the CDA, Child Development Associate. I need it to continue working at the preschool. Now I will go on to my 2 year degree. Also had the first all cast meeting for Les Mis Sunday....wow talk about feeling completely out of my element hahahaha! Well, maybe I'll find out that being on stage is something I really enjoy!
  18. Pcew! That was my girl sound effects for my head that just exploded from the cute of this kitty. O. M. G. Is she as soft as she looks? I'm dying. I love kitties.
  19. I puffy heart this thread.
  20. I get to be a "lady of night" in the play and my daughter is going to be young Cosette! They were going to offer me a one line singing part but that'll have to wait until I can feel somewhat comfortable on stage, having never been on it before!
  21. I don't think it's about being a victim. It's about knowing there's a time/place for certain reactions/ways to handle things. Just b/c you fight back and say NO I WILL NOT ACCEPT THIS...doesn't always mean the other person listens, and it may not put YOU in a good position, depending on the situation you're in. You have to weigh the pros and cons of everything. It's smart to observe and use your instincts.
  22. When I got my peony in December, the thing I had my arm draped over slipped down a notch. He leaned down and said "Well shoot, sorry about that I didn't have it in the right hole" then he turned a bit pink and was like uhhh umm...sooowaaaa....and I busted out laughing. It was a true enough statement, but just that little bit of dirty minded-ness is all it took. Had my husband been sitting there, he'd have laughed too, b/c it was funny, it was said innocently and it was our own dirty minds that took it there. HOWEVER. If he'd made comments on my TITS, and I'd felt too intimidated to say something, that doesn't mean it's MY fault. And he'd have had his teeth knocked down his throat after I went to my husband about it. WOMEN, as a general RULE are NOT encouraged to STAND UP FOR OURSELVES. Not around men. No, we absolutely are 100% NOT. it's one thing for dirty jokes to be bantered back and forth, especially when the shop is an open plan. It's SO not in even the same realm as speaking directly to another person's body parts. It's not ok. And it's not ok to say she should've spoken up b/c it's not always easy to do. I'm more outspoken about things (SOMETIMES) b/c I happen to have a big and mean looking husband who people find intimidating. And he has had to come to "my rescue" a time or two, b/c of things guys have said/done. I also have had to go to my incredibly protective brother. It 100% was rude and he's lucky he still has his teeth and is not speaking in a high falsetto if that's how he speaks to female clients. And really, if she'd have said something, what would've happened? Oh gee lady, you're right, I'm sorry. HA NO WAY. He'd have dropped his jaw and stared at her and slid back in his rolley chair and been like "are you kidding me? Seriously? You're OFFENDED? haha listen to this guys, this PERSON is offended that I'm looking at her TITS" or some such drivel like that. Set herself up for that? Why?
  23. I hope he says something like that to a woman who has a big and mean husband like mine.
