I totally understand your concerns!! I would just talk it over with your artist! Stop over analyzing!! I was like that too! Just pick out an amazing artist!! Most important in MY OPINION!!!
-
Yeah henning is crazy good! I forgot about frith street!! I personally love black n red! Yellow would be cool too!' The reason why artist say either or is because it could have the effect of a unfinished tattoo. My advice would be for the first one just go black n grey! I mean talk to your artist! Definitely go check out frith street!! They have some amazing artist!!! - - - Updated - - - Yeah henning is crazy good! I forgot about frith street!! I personally love black n red! I would definitely take your time with a first tattoo!!! If you are going big in the future you have to consider will this tattoo be in the way for a future bigger piece. Unless you are going for the American traditional look with no real flow...

well look at my profile I have a black n red tattoo... Honestly I would go black n grey. No color. you could always go color for the next tattoo. Or the the japanese style tattoo they have color for the main subject and black n grey back ground . Look at more japanese stuff if you want a better idea of your tattoo. what are you looking to get? Honestly his work looks decent. Then again I have high expectations getting work from some of the best here in the U.S. - - - Updated - - - as far as artist I know denmark is far from where you live but check out Henning Jorgensen. Compare the two artist. Henning is one of the best so..

If you want a color tattoo then go color . Black n grey with some color isn't something most artist are down to do in my experience.. Then again Black n grey n red is a killer combo! I think that is the only combo that looks good if you want to add some color into a black n grey tattoo. ONLY MY OPINION!! No matter what color you use it depends on many factors how well it will stay. If it's in an area where the sun don't shine i would really concern yourself. Even if it is .. There is always touch ups.. So either way I would MAINLY be concerned about the skill of the artist!!!!!!!!!!!

give it time! Certain areas don't heal as fast as others... my ribs took about 2 weeks more than my arms so just be patient. you will be fine!!If something goes wrong just get a touch up! It's really no biggie!

Yes I hate it to that's why I only can stand it for a day. Tegaderm by 3m is the best way so far in terms of healing! -
Tattoo bubbling from Saran Wrap not gauze?

Actually my first major tattoo I fell in the same trap of using AnD. For me .. I repeat for me.. it caused irritation around the tattoo. I was told to the same to discontinue with the ointment and let it dry out for a couple of days. I know that's kinda shocking when artist tell you to dry out your tattoo but it totally worked out for me. Since then I don't use AnD at all I use aquaphor. For me it's better. Plus didn't like the smell of AnD. I also don't put ointment on for more than 16 to 20 hours. I used to put it on for the whole 24 hours but haven't seen any difference. I let it dry out until it starts peeling which is about 3 days for me then I put lotion on. No more ointment. I know that stuff is easier to put on but it also irritates the hell out of my skin. Rashes etc. -

Thanks ! I did say I'm not a professional! Never seen anything like that from me. Like I said good luck ! Still like the 3m stuff a lot! That was the artist who offered it. I understand there are different factors in using Saran or whatever. Hope it goes well!! Good luck next time around! -

Yeah I only use aquaphor for 1 day. Then I wash it off completely and leave it alone for 2 days (washing it couple times a day). Then third day add very little lotion. Like half a pump(if that make sense). or You can use this product called Tegaderm by 3m. Google it. Leave it on for three days. After those three days clean it and add lotion. My last artist used it on me. No scabs at all!! -

Google it. I'm no artist or professional but I just read that is caused by too much ointment . Basically clean all the ointment and let it air dry without any ointment for a couple of days. Then would leave it alone and just add a small amount of lotion not ointment. The bubbles can cause scabbing and lose of color or holidays. - - - Updated - - - How long did you keep the saran wrap on for btw? -

wow that doesn't look good ! i've never had something like that happen to any of my tattoos! -
I would either stick with tribal or japanese. I wouldn't combine the two. Then again that is just me. Also I can't really think of any artist that specializes in Maroni style tattoos in L.A. I would start with Horimoto State of Grace for Japanese. To be honest in my opinion NYC has the best Japanese style artist. Let me think about it i'm sure there are some that I can't think of right now..

has anyone tried Saniderm yet ? totally amazing stuff
Killercook76 replied to Dan's topic in Tattoo After Care
I didn't start to itch until after it stopped peeling.. I think that this product is slower in terms of healing but it heals better in the long run! - - - Updated - - - Tegaderm by 3M was the brand that was used on me. I think it's the same thing.. -

I also found using this product. Healing is a lot slower. You will not start peeling for a week or so. My other tattoos peeled after 2 to 3 days. The good thing like i said no scabs! If you are allergic to latex I wouldn't use it! - - - Updated - - - I thought the same when I took it off but it will start peeling in like 4 days or so. Good thing is I didn't get any scabs. It's been like 13 days so far and I think about another week or so it's should be completely healed. I also developed a slight irritation to it. I'm glad my artist used it though. Don't get me wrong! . . -
i think the initial saran wrap is just to get you home and from there you can decide what works best for you. If you think about it the pores from a fresh tattoo is saturated with ink, blood, plasma, and ointment . So suffocating it with plastic wrap isn't going to hurt it.. Then again I'm no professional.. ahahaha!

yes my last tattoo was covered with it. Absolutely no scabs (first time for me). The only down fall was maybe a bit allergic to whatever is in it. Then again I have super sensitive skin.. -
in terms of healing I heard rotary heals faster. In my experience from getting tattooed is not really. Both are about the same healing time.
