  1. Map out the general elements that are important to you, get your reference material together, then approach the appropriate artist. Listen to their feedback, and make a plan for the tattoo. Knowing what you want is great, but the more constraints you throw at the artist, the less creative they will be able to be. Your responsibility is to do the homework and find the right artist for the job. Their job is to take the idea and make it look as awesome as possible.
  2. Being on the inner bicep I wonder if it is a combination of sweat+deodorant+being on a part of your body that doesn't get much air.

    Hello, LST!

Loving the back piece so far! The kitsune is wicked :)
  4. Make sure to post pictures if you wind up with any new tattoos or marker drawings on your face :)

    Hello, LST!

Greetings and salutations. It sounds like you've been busy :) Welcome to the forums!
  7. Working as an emt, our companies' policy is that tattoos can be showing as long as they aren't "excessive or offensive." I had worked with the tattoo on my right arm for 3 years with prior permission, and then we got a new supervisor whose interpretation of that ambiguous rule meant that I had to get long sleeves. Of course, as I get more work done and the ozone isn't what it used to be, I am more than happy to cover them up. Twelve hour work days with one of your arms getting blasted through the window= a kickass farmer's tan and a faded tattoo. As far as previous discrimination goes, I've only had a couple of patients who had issues. Both of which were elderly, and I just told them my kid got crazy with a permanent marker. With most it is just a conversation piece, which has been helpful is distracting them from whatever issue they may be having at the time. We had this quadriplegic fellow with chronic px going to a routine appointment. That guy had a lot of work done and we sat for 45 minutes bullshitting about tattoos and 80's/90's metal while waiting for the dr.
  8. Cheers bud. Tonight for me is a jack n coke. I have been craving banana bread beer and Mississippi mud though. Tomorrow warrants a trip to 99 bottles.
  9. I'll be there on the Saturday at 12 getting a hawk done up on my right arm/chest. I'm super jazzed. My wife has already pre-nicknamed it "Shaniqua."
  10. I agree wholeheartedly. My wife and I strive to set a good example for our kids. It always warms my heart to see my boy do the simple little things like open the door for someone, share with kids at school, and just generally try to be a good little dude. The flip side to this, and it relates to the article in certain ways, is that we teach him and my daughter (especially my daughter) that they deserve that same respect in return. Also that they should gravitate towards those that treat them well.
  11. THIS http://www.flickr.com/photos/dlozeau/5531302786/ My love of Freddy Mercury and skeletons combined!
  12. My knowledge of art is as limited as my knowledge of what keeps a plane in the air. Regardless, I can still identify the smoldering wreck of a crash and tell you that something went terribly wrong.
  13. Based upon their Facebook pics, I would personally steer clear of that shop.
  14. Dan was unsatisfied with only having 1 measly thread with which to post on when he is drunk. Now he has that whole forum for it.:D
  15. Join date: October 2012. Technically last year. On a side note though. I wouldn't worry too much about your tattoo, or whether or not people like it. What I would do though, is take the opportunity you have now to educate yourself, find a good artist, and start getting some really good work done.
