  1. HILLSTOMP https://soundcloud.com/hillstomp AA Bondy is aight, but I really like this song. Carolina Chocolate Drops!
  2. I have experienced some of this before. My thoughts are that it's probably scar tissue which has not fully settled in/healed up. A lot of bolder work can create scarring even if it's a really clean tattoo and it doesn't necessarily look off or out of place. Peoples' skin scars differently and heals at different rates, and I've had some tattoos that took several months to fully settle into the skin even after the scabbing and peeling is over. Anyway, that's my guess given some of what I've noticed with healing my tattoos. It might not necessarily be what's up with hers, but if it is, it'll probably go away within a few more months.
  3. Did this one yesterday, 5.5 hour one shot. Tough girl! @Wilhell I know I've already said it, but I really love your backpiece. The powder blue with the orangey reds looks real slick.
  4. Just a thought -- I wonder if people will start using 3d printers to make frames, maybe carbon fiber or something equally strong and light?
  5. For more info on the show, click: Mike Giant @FFDG, Feb 7th Hope to see some bay area LSTers there!
  6. I've been pondering that lately, actually. I think it would look great if it were all done in lighter tones of grey. At least with my tattoos, what I have on my arms is mostly traditional with really strong silhouettes. So if the background patternwork would be subtle enough to not detract from the impact of the prior work, I think it could look DOPE
  7. Oh man... there are so many. Alix Ge, Paul Bosch, Sonju Rattler, Herb Aeurbach, Roxx, Kahlil Rintye, Claudia De Sabe, Cassandra Frances, Zac Scheinbaum, Anderson Luna, Andre Malcolm, Mike the Athens, Jesse Swanson, Derrick Snodgrass, Jeff Rassier.. I could go on!
  8. @Dumpleton Those are rad! I love the dots you use, dots are so cool. Perhaps I am just amazed by how the simplest and smallest of marks can have such an impact. @Graeme I LOVE THAT. DO MORE OF THAT.
  9. @semele and @Wilhell you guys are warriors, so much respect. Those are both gorgeous backpieces, I would be so proud if I were in your shoes. Carry on!
  10. While color realism is usually my least favorite style of tattooing, I truly love Cecil's work and am super stoked for you! Be sure to post more progress pics :)
  11. Looks like something worth ignoring completely
  12. Really cool video and beautiful sentiment. I'll definitely be sharing.
  13. Just way too beautiful! I can't stop staring :o
  14. I think @smiling.politely and @irezumi pretty much nailed it. I just wanna throw out one other piece of advice that you can take or leave, but that I have found helpful. Pretty much like.. you don't owe anyone your time or talents. If someone wants to pay you for them then get on it, but don't ever feel obligated that you have to go out of your way to draw or tattoo anybody for free. I have found that more often than not, the people who expect a hookup or free work are usually my friends. It's just kind of a bummer because if you like something enough to wear it on you forever, wouldn't you want to support the person/friend doing that for you? The only people who I will ever give the hookup to are loyal clients who have already paid me good money and let me do some fun tattoos. In those situations it's good because, in a sense, you are looking out for each other and it's a two-way street. But more often than not, if you give someone an inch, they will probably expect that inch over again even if they don't try to take a mile.
  15. Hello from Oakland! Don't be shy, it sounds like you have killer work. Can we see pictures? Also props for being a teacher, not an easy job!
  16. Welcome, hope you enjoy it here! Tons of great info, videos, pictures, and stories about tattooing. Do you have any ideas about what you want your first to be?
  17. @Mark Bee Cheers, thanks :) @SStu Idealism is for propaganda :p I get what you're saying though, and respectfully disagree. I don't think that it's possible to undo damaging thought patterns without taking a hard look at the specifics. If we build a new house upon a broken foundation, then the house is bound to crumble. Anyway, enough social theory for me. Cheers, y'all!
  18. I really hope so too, here's to quality profiling. Son, I know you did not just call women the weaker sex ;) But yeah, people are shitty to each other, to the planet, to animals, to themselves, to their loved ones, to basically everything. I fully believe that our conditioning in regards to entitlement and disposability is to blame. I struggle a lot with my feelings of helplessness in regards to how humanity is systematically destroying all life known to us, and then I come back to my previous sentiment on how nobody can really change anything or anyone but themselves. So there it is. And also, in regards to specifically talking about women, rape is largely a crime committed against women. Although, rape of men does happen and is talked about even less, which I find to be really disturbing. I think a lot of that goes back to how western culture treats femininity and vulnerability, which are traits innate to everyone and largely viewed as undesirable in men. Like think about how many times in your life you have been told to "man up." Like what does that even mean, tangibly? It serves no other purpose than to belittle and silence someone. My mom talks about being a humanist instead of a feminist and it bothers me. Not because I think that being a feminist is better, but because I think that to try to tackle a broad spectrum of problems before addressing smaller disenfranchised groups can overshadow very real and demographic-specific problems. Anyway, I hope that answered your question. Thanks for contributing to this discussion, I think it's a really important one to have and is not had often enough.
