i had my first experience of going anywhere near the armpit or inside arm on wednesday and for me so far that was definitly the most uncomfortable feeling ive had when being tattooed so far!

Hi @keepcalm :) I work within the beauty industry and when we were learning about hair removal we were taught that only repeated shaving will cause hair to grow back more coarsley...it's a bit of a myth that it grows back darker and in more abundance. Its rather the texture of the hair that changes. And it needs to be over a long period of time :) I hope this helps in some way. My forearms were shaved for my tattoos and the hair grew back exactly the same.

Not sure if i've already posted this - forgive me if i have - Tomorrow i'm back down in Newcastle (UK) to Cock A Snook tattoo. I'm having another Gypsy lady but on my right thigh this time which was painted by and will be tattooed by Paul Fulton. It's from a split sheet Dan Hartley and Paul Fulton painted... i'll try and include a pic from their instagram. So i already have the lady on the left on my left thigh and i shall have the lady on the right on my right thigh. Really love the painting and am hoping to purchase a print once they get them done! In the same sitting Daniel Hartley is doing a cover up of a butterfly tattoo i had done on my right shoulder a while back and disliked straight away and never went back to get it finished! It was totally my own fault, it's not a bad tattoo i just really don't like it and would rather use that space for something else if i can. Can't wait to see what he's come up with! Hi Tammy! Welcome to the forums.. i'm relatively new to posting myself but a long time lurker :) So far i only have my legs and arms tattooed and the legs have definitly been harder to heal. Our bodies do a pretty awesome job of doing the whole healing thing though so just keep it mosturised and clean and i think you'll be just fine! I'm a wee bit older than you (27) but if it's any concillation i'm getting a lot of grief for being tattooed too. Someone just told me an hour ago if i carry on i'll end up looking like a lesbian and then who'd want me... (firstly what's wrong with looking like a lesbian anyway and secondly why would i want someone who didnt appreciate my tattoos?!) Life is for living right now.. not for worrying about what our ankles will look like when we are 90. Frankly i'm gonna be wrinkly anyways so it may as well be pretty wrinkles :) I saw an old guy on the bus today and he had a swallow on his hand and it looked totally awesome.. all faded but still a beautiful outline. I almost went and complimented him. Ignore people, enjoy your life and enjoy your tattoos :)

So the longest ive sat to date is about 3 hours. I'm a little nervous as on Wednesday I'm looking at a 6 potentially 7 hour session. However it's on two different tattoos. One after the other by two artists in the same studio. I'm hoping this might make it easier ? Has anyone got any tips on what to eat etc. I've never really had to worry about blood sugar levels before however after 3 hours I'm usually shivering etc. I'm excited tho even if its a whole new level of pain haha x

I've definitey gone for all the easy to tattoo and easy to heal spots first.. i had my upper thigh (front) tattooed only on wednesday passed but its defo by far still the sorest. Usually i dont get much scabbing at all.. just peeling but i'm getting a few scabs already.. i dunno if its because the swellings gone down a bit and my thighs are perhaps a bit less toned than they should be? I moved on from Bepanthen to lotion today... i'm getting the other thigh tattooed this coming wednesday so i guess at least i'm getting them out the way at the same time! What would people suggest is best? Its not really tightless weather here in bonny scotland yet but do you think it's best to keep it as unclothed as often as possible?

How in the name of all that is holy would you heal an anus tattoo ?!?

The Swallow tattoo on my forearm was an impulsive tattoo.. i'd had a really crappy day at work and everything seemed to be going wrong.. i walked passed the same shop i've visited several times and thought what the hell i'll go in and pay a deposit. Alec was free for a walk in and that's how the swallow came in to being. It's one of my favourites and it also started a great relatioinship with my Artist.. I love it when things like that happen.. i'm not a great believer in fate but sometimes two coincidences happen at the same time and the results are usually fantastic :)

breasts and stomach... breasts because its just not for me and stomach because after 4 children (including one set of twins that were 15.5lb combined!) its pretty much a no go tattoo area! oh and my lady parts.

I guess i haven't really thought about the order that i'm getting tattooed... for me i just get tattoos that i think look nice, i'm not all that fussed about it looking like a full sleeve. I only have tattoo's on my arms and legs at present (and one little cherry blossom behind my ear but that doesnt really count) i would like full coverage on my left arm and possibly right. I have no tattoos on my torso because i have adult acne on my back (sexy!) and i'm kinda waiting and hoping it might go away so i can have a suitably fabulous back piece. My contribution to your question is.. just do what you want to do. What's right for one person isn't going to be right for another. Enjoy being tattoo and if a piece you love fits somewhere.. go for it! :)

This whole thread scares me... i'm a good 'sitter' so far but i've gone for all the easy spots first! Thinking i should've dove in with a rib/sternum/elbow/knee combo and then everything else would be a breeze! i'm looking at having to deal with the elbow ditch pretty soon so we'll see how that goes! Worst bit for me so far was top of the foot and that was only vine work!

This is quite an interesting topic for me. I've recently (well about 7 months) come out of a ten year relationship. During this time i had a few small tattoos. Rubbish ones that i got when i was 14 and doing it to be cool. My ex doesnt have tattoos and when he's seen my recent coverage he is disgusted by them. Which only serves to make me certain this is exactly what i want! I find tattooed and heavily tattooed guys attractive. I really love their choice to express themselves in this way and generally (not always) they have far more interesting stories to tell. So for me right now in my life i couldn't see myself with a person with no tatttoos...or someone with really bad tattoos.

Hey guys, this will be my first post outside of initiation! I'm back to be tattoo'd again this wednesday. I'm not entirely sure what we are doing but i really enjoy seeing what my artist comes up with. I love his style and i think he gets my style as everything he's created has had little input from me! So it'll be some more filling of my left arm. Then i'll be back to see him in hopefully two weeks.. my idea at the moment is two warrior girl heads, one on each thigh, one wearing a panther head and the other a tiger head but we shall see! Really excited but a little sad as after my warrior girls i'm going to need to take a break for a while... those pesky children won't live off beans on toast much longer ;)

Hey everyone, I've been reading the forums for the past couple of months and it's really helped me make some good tattoo choices! I'd go as far as to say it's totally changed my tattoo choices! I'm from Edinburgh in Scotland and am currently having work done by Alec Benjamin at Red Hot and Blue Tattoo in Edinburgh. Small pieces for now but some larger pieces in the making :) Looking forward to getting to know you all and hopefully be able to contribute something of use to the forum! :) x
