I think they ran a sale recently for both copies. I should have snagged them when I had the chance. These will be mine one day...oh yes they will

EPIC!!!! -
I like Horimitsu of the Horitoshi Family a lot. His colors are also very vivid and bright. His designs take on an abstract approach at times to traditional Japanese tebori themes. I've follow his Instagram religiously. Missed out on an opportunity to get tattooed by him at this past NYC Tattoo Convention. Hopefully he'll come to the next one!

Seriously!? How could I have missed this given all the times I've been up to Kings Ave getting my back worked on by Rubendall! It looks GREAT!

I love the tebori work of the Horitoshi Family from Horitoshi 1, Horimitsu, ShunHo, and Shinji Horizakura. The depth of the black wind bars are amazing the colors are so vivid and bold. However my favorite tebori tattooer is actually US based now, Horitomo. I feel he is doing his best works these days and hoping one day to be able to get something from him:

EPIC looking back piece! May I ask who's doing the work?

Thighs Thighs Thighs!!!

When I had my thigh piece done, I had a contact dermatitis reaction outside of the fresh tattoo on the back side of my thigh. I have super sensitive skin and my guess is it was either the medical tape used to hold down the saran wrap or maybe even the Sharpies used to lay out some of the background design. A little bit of Benedryl cream on the spots and healthy does on Benedryl pills in my system cleared it right up. The pain on my thigh getting tattooed was pretty intense, especially from the outlining session. I found shading and coloring much more bearable. Like you, it healed really well and smooth with no issues. Back of the thighs are definitely more painful than the front. And if you happen to have hairy legs, it gets itchy as hell when its growing back (shaved for the tattoo). Now having my back done, I realize the thigh was a walk in the park in comparison, hahaha -

Thanks! I actually have three koi from Henning, the two on my thigh and one on my left arm. I'm a big fan of his koi and they bring back fond memories of when my late grandmother used to buy goldfish for my brother and I when we were kids. Now I know goldfish are more kingyo than koi, but they fit the same style for me. -

Here you go, on my left thigh, koi, water and cherry blossoms done in Japanese style by Henning Jorgensen. Not completed yet and also now connected to my back piece project. Will eventually get a piece on my right thigh to balance things out. Maybe a tiger or dragon or both. -

So awesome, I love the work of the entire Horitoshi Family. I'm going to see if I can get something from Horimitsu next year, he's my favorite and his Instagram is like a guided tour of Japan! -

Brutal 7+ hour session today with Henning Jorgensen at Kings Avenue Long Island. Full report in the Full Back Piece thread. I'm obliterated...goodnight.
-
So today was my second session with Henning on my backpiece and it was a tough one. Started bright at early at 9:30am at Kings Avenue Long Island. This was probably the most painful and longest tattoo session I've ever had. We both under-estimated the time it would take for Henning to finish lining some additional feathers and to shade in the rest of the background. The first 5 hours were relatively low key. The last two hours were terrifying. I now know I will probably not entertain a torso piece anytime soon as the pain from the ribs was just brutal. This was the first time I considered tapping out but I was able to bare down and we managed to finish. Here are some pics. Color next year for the phoenix. Next session will be with Rubendall in December to put more color into the dragon. Big thanks to @Killercook76 who dropped by today for moral support and assisted in taking some pics. He showed off his Garver and Hendricks pieces which were AMAZING. Cheers bro! I love this guy but he "royally" kicked my ass today... Added some more feathers and filling in the top Background fully shaded Right side from Tuesday's session Left side from today

You know the funny thing is a lot of my buddies are going or already bald. I used to keep my hair really short but decided since I have it, I'll flaunt it, HAHAHA. However my lady has nixed any ideas about growing a ponytail or mullet...

6+ hours yesterday with Henning Jorgensen at Kings Avenue Manhattan. Check the full back piece thread for full report!
-
Got in a session with Henning yesterday at Kings Avenue Manhattan. Haven't seen him in a year and naturally he had a lot of catching up to do on the back piece in comparison to the head start Rubendall has had, haha. It was another 6+ hour session and it was pretty brutal. Side ribs and spine are no fun as you'll see in the pictures and I found myself constantly questioning..."Why am I doing to this myself???" Probably the worst pain I have felt so far getting tattooed. We managed to line and shade the background on my right side and also part of my lower back. I will see Henning again this Friday to line some more feathers and shade in the left side background and maybe finish coloring my koi thigh piece. Strangely ironic that this is marathon week in NYC (The ING NYC Marathon to be exact) because that is what these crammed in LONG sessions feel like. But totally worth it in the end. Enjoy the pics folks. Doing some drawing to get a feel of what left side will be like come Friday Laying down the background and connecting it to Rubendall's work A little more close up with a different angle Masters watching masters at work: Chris O'donnell and Richard Pinch observing and lending advice to Henning. I was in awe! Can't see much from this pic but we got a lot done and I was totally spent. More to come this Friday
