  1. @Pugilist +100000000000000000000 @Graeme I used to work in a bookstore too. (A large corporate one) It was amazing to me how many people would tell me they were looking for a book, "I think it had a blue cover..." Gahhhh
  2. I'll bet it was the "y'all." :) Welcome to LST!
  3. Congratulations! It always starts with one...

    Book thread

Those first 7 books were brilliant. I got tired of waiting for him to finish around that time, so I kinda lost my track. Then he died. I'm reading Naomi Klein's "This Changes Everything" right now along side John Scalzi's "Lock In." I recently finished Carson Stroud's "Niceville," book 1 of 3 in a wonderfully creepy supernatural series. Great fun. Also just finished the latest Lee Child Jack Reacher book. Mindless, mindless, fun.
  5. That's great! I'm glad she enjoyed the experience.
  6. I like that one! How did your sister enjoy the experience?
  7. I was looking through a tattooer's pics on their instagram a while back and noticed a guy getting his back done in the background and looking like he was about to die. I looked a little closer and realized that guy was me! Here's the link to the pic. The account belongs to Jennifer Lawes, now tattooing at The Pearl in Toronto. I haven't been tattooed by her yet, but she is very good. Definitely worth checking out her work. http://instagram.com/p/n02VwcuTNO/?modal=true
  8. I want to add lollipops to all my tattoos now! My Higgs mummy would be transformed!
  9. How did I miss this?! What a great story, and a great sheet from @cltattoing. An act of kindness has a way of spilling its borders and making life a little sweeter for everyone touched by it.
  10. Thanks everyone :) And @Graeme, thanks for the encouragement - Looking for work is the balls.
  11. Looks great. I really have to check out Trophy. I heard its a nice spot right by (under?) the new Crow's Nest. I picked up a couple end of the season tattoos from Tim Pausinger at The Pearl in Toronto today. I'll post in three pictures. My left leg is really coming together now. I hope I can find good employment soon, because there is still a ton of work to be done!
  12. Things have taken a weird turn. The aunt for whom I am a caregiver and whom I have been spending time in the hospital as she fades has had a turn of events. Her kidneys had stopped and that was the end. But, two nights ago, they started working again. The doctors were astounded. After a second day and a battery of tests, they moved her from palliative care into "recuperation." Today they were talking about physio to get her back on her feet. They are talking about when they can release her to come home. Who knows how long this will last, but I've never seen anything like it. I am stunned by such a dramatic turn of events. Family had come from across North America to say goodbye. We had the bedside vigil going. And now, well, for now at least a few more happy days and weeks. Hopefully years. - - - Updated - - - @Pleadco I just saw your post. I am so sorry to hear about what you and yours have been going through. You have lots of support and best wishes from me.
  13. The Dietzel books are simply amazing. My wife and I love them!
  14. Thank you, @Pugilist and @SeeSea. The support from members of this community is outstanding. Its a rare gem, this space of ours.
  15. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Its a terrible thing. Right now I am spending my time after work (and before work) with my aunt who is currently dying in a hospital ward downtown. I've been her closest relative and caregiver for a decade. I can't believe its coming to an end. I can't believe I'm losing such a huge part of my life. That may sound selfish, as she is the one who will die, but I can't help but think of what a massive change I'm undergoing too. She is remarkable and is in oddly good spirits. I think she has been ready for this moment for a while. I don't think I can make myself ready though. This has been a shitty few weeks.
  16. Congrats! And thanks to everyone who entered and let the rest of us be inspired by such great tattoos.
  17. Each time I've traveled to NYC, I've used the subway system extensively. Its a pretty decent and cost effective way to travel. Of course, I spent time hiking the length of Manhattan too, as that is the very best way to see that borough. Have a great time!
  18. Me and 650 of my colleagues have no jobs. Race to the bottom.
  19. I've got a heart with an arrow through it that says "mom." I do love it, even if many think its a bit of a cliche. I'm a momma's boy at heart I guess.
