  1. I'm laughing my ass off creating film loops in vine while I'm stuck waiting at the bus depot.
  2. I've just got an account, but I don't really know what I'm doing yet. Anyway, the name is the same for me on instagram, Tumblr, Pheed, and Vine: Screaminggorilla.
  3. Nice! That is such a great neighbourhood. I hope your friend is enjoying the area and Toronto in general. So many good restaurants, cafes, and nightlife around there. Its also a very community minded part of town - people look out for each other. I'm pretty stoked about Nick Collela coming too. I think he is there from April 3-6. I booked an appointment on the 3rd. Tim is a great artist and a very nice guy as well. Your friend will be pleased with whatever Tim does, I'm sure.
  4. Thanks, hogg. It was a pretty great day, all in all. I'm a little concerned about Friday. I was planning on having another, smaller piece put on that same stretch of real estate. But I've already done two in the last 8 days, and I think my arm will be very unhappy with me.
  5. I shouldn't be allowed outside without a chaperone. My girlfriend and I went out for lunch this afternoon. Since we were right around the corner from The Pearl in Toronto I decided to stop in and say hello. Just a few moments before we got there Tim Pausinger had a couple of last minutes cancellations. Perfect timing! I had a few ideas on my phone and after brief discussion Tim drew up a design and got to work. I had a tattoo done last week that was healing nicely and so I figured what the hell. Let's do it. I've got another appointment on Friday, another on the 18th and two in April. I think I'll take a wee break at that point before beginning the work on my chest.
  6. I know how you feel - I was having a terrible time changing images in my gallery. :)
  7. I think I'm going to go to the convention in Toronto this summer. It wil be my first. If I like it I might very well postpone my August trip to Montreal until September and take in that con as well. (Also, I can stock up on my beloved mead from the SAQ!)
  8. Hi Steve, That worked perfectly. Thanks very much!
  9. I've had the same problem as the OP. However, even after carefully following the instructions, my images remain. I was hoping to delete them and replace them with better images. Thanks in advance to any thoughts on this matter. M
  10. I have two appointments in March and then I saw Nick was coming. Oh well, my tax return is going to be well spent for once.
  11. I'm definitely thinking traditional. I've been pouring over books and images since I got word he could fit me in. So many possibilities! I'll defo say hi for you, Dan.
  12. I just scored an appointment with Nick Colella when he guests at Pearl Harbor in Toronto this April. Very stoked, but now I have to figure what to get!
  13. I 'm not sure if my folks know about my tattoos. I suspect they don't because my mom is not one to be shy with her opinions. On the other hand, she might just be in tremendous denial. Either way works for me - I can do with out the rending of clothes and gnashing of teeth. I suspect I'll keep quiet about it. We don't live in the same city so its not like it would come up often anyway. Great stories in here - I really enjoyed reading about all the different experiences people have had.
  14. The first tattoo I recall seeing was in Brockville, Ontario, sometime around 1977 or 1978. I was about 8 years old, and I had gone into a convenience store and the old guy who ran the place had rows of pictures from his WWII days in the Royal Canadian Navy. He had a series of schooners down his arms. I remember looking at those pics and then at the man himself, recognizing the blued and now blurry tattoos down his arms. I thought he was the coolest old-timer I'd ever seen. I was not from the area, but whenever I was back in Brockville, I wanted to go back to that store. He was gone by the early 80's. but his tattoos made a huge impact on me. I can recall my mother wondering why I was so insistant that we go back to that particular store. Around that same time I found a magazine or book in my parents home that also captivated me. The memory is hazy, but there was a grainy picture of a guy, probably a WWII sailor, with his shirt off and he had tattoos on his chest - probably swallows. Birds of some kind. I wish I had the magazine still, but it has been lost for decades. At any rate, I always loved that look, and many years later, I opted to get very similar tattoos on my chest.
  15. This! I spend a fair bit of time leafing through books and portfolios in the shop I frequent. I try to make sure I'm not in the way, or distracting people from their work, but as long as I am respectful, they don't seem to mind. Usually I can park myself in the corner and read and jot down ideas without being disruptive. Poke around, look through the gallery here, join instagram and spend a few hours (days? weeks?) looking through the staggering number of pics online. Often artists post a lot of their work on their facebook pages - another good place to look around and see what sort of tattoos people are getting/ giving. Have fun!
