  1. What a hassel. There have been some really good points made here. If it were me, I'd get it altered. But I would go to a different artsist.

    Book thread

I'm glad you reminded me about this book. Its buried in my "to-read" stack and I'd forgotten about it. Since spring has finally arrived maybe I should find a patio and start reading it. Or...maybe I should work on finishing this degree. I think I see which way this is going...
  3. I've spent the last year ordering and testing out various meads. To be honest, the best come from a small farm just north of Toronto, and from an amazing meadery in Quebec. A good friend of mine has recently started making mead at home and after a few false starts has turned out some very nice stuff.
  4. The artist didn't mention the origins, eh? Seems like that was some information that should have been conveyed to you prior to getting it permanently affixed. Perhaps put off that Russian vacation for a while. (Just watched Mark of Cain again last night.)
  5. Thanks, CABS! I had to give a lot of thought about what to ask her to do - her pinups are among the very best I've seen. She just nails them every single time. I may have to consider that when I start work on my legs.
  6. I found myself at the Pearl Harbor Gift Shop today where Nikki Lugo put an octopus on my inner bicep. Great job! Awesome tattooer and equally awesome person. She is based in D.C., so if you ever find yourself in the capitol city and want a tattoo - check her out!
  7. That skull is awesome. I keep coming back to it. Congrats.
  8. Interesting, but Burzynski is not without controversy. The following is one of a multitude of pages about the man and his work: Science-Based Medicine » Stanislaw Burzynski: Bad medicine, a bad movie, and bad P.R. I suppose it is up to each of us to investigate the quality of these claims and make a sound, evidence based analysis.
  9. Its been ages since my last tattoo. I had let it slip my mind, but Nikki Lugo from D.C. is guesting at The Pearl this week. I managed to score an appointment tomorrow to get an old school octopus on the inside of my bicep.
  10. The Pearl has a deal on this April. They are offering $100 daffodil tattoos with %100 of the cash going to cancer research. That's a special I can get behind.
  11. I'm kinda in the same boat. No real tattoo-enthusiast friends here either. My fiance has a few tattoos, but when I asked her if I should get her tickets to the Montreal convention she begged off preferring to drink wine with old friends instead while we are in town. I guess I can't blame her. ;)
  12. Just a note - women did not wear war bonnets so just something to be aware of. I don't know what exactly you're envisioning, but if you want something historically accurate you should look into the history of aboriginal bands to find guidance. Of course many people like the image of a woman wearing a war bonnet, so if its just the image you are interested in them I guess it won't matter much.
  13. This is a clip from Jesse Thorn's new online series called "Put This On." The part about shaving with a DE razor begins at 3:18. Put This On • Put This On Episode 4: Grooming Jesse visits the... The episodes are about 10 minutes long and cover a range of topics. There are good ones on buying good shoes and another on the production of denim. I was inspired to start using a DE after watching this episode. (Inspired, yes, but my money seemed to disappear into other ventures.) I still intend to buy one of these razors in the near future. Thorn, by the way, is the host of the brilliant podcast "Bullseye," which originally aired as The Sound of Young America, on NPR. I also recommend his podcast "Jesse, Jordan, Go!"
  14. Heh, yeah. I'm saving for the Montreal convention. That should be a fun weekend.
  15. That's pretty close to me - Sadly though, I am broke.
  16. Shitty. I heard bad things about the game. Blizz just threw something together to make a few more bucks off the name. The iOS game is amazing, though.
  17. I have a small freshwater tank - 20 gallons. Filled with danios and the like right now. One day I'd like to get a larger tank and eventually move into salt water, but the budget being what it is, precludes expansion at this point in time. One day though...
  18. Good to hear about Tomb Raider - I have been on the fence about it. I think I'll give it a go.
