While I had originally planned to work on my back today, we ended up filling in a few spots on my legs. The tattoos are from Dan Higgs' flash and were made by Tim Pausinger at The Pearl in Toronto. Sigh. Sideways pic.

Today was another session with Tim at The Pearl. I'll post one of the tattoos in the latest tattoo thread.

Heading in today to get a new tattoo. I was originally going to work on my back today, but since its rather sore after wrenching it on Friday, I think we are going to work on my leg instead. I'll get back to the back in a few weeks.

In this thread, we commiserate about healing our fresh tattoos.

I don't find it affects my sleep much one way or the other. The first night might be a little less comfortable if I'm still wearing a bandage, but otherwise, I don't notice the new tattoo all that much at bedtime. -
Large thigh tattoos and backpieces
Mark Bee replied to Daggboy's topic in Tattoo Designs, Books and Flash
There is something to be said for getting the worst out of the way, but I am generally driven by what I want more than where it is going to go, if that makes any sense. I have often thought about targeting shitty spots just to get them done, though, so I am inconsistent about it. -
Large thigh tattoos and backpieces

I'm doing the front of my thighs over the next six months, in between sessions on my back. I will say, though, that the legs were not a lot of fun. It wasn't so much the tattooing, but the healing that sucked. -
I love hot, humid weather. I'm in my element. I seem to get more energy the more intense the heat and humidity grow. I do my best to keep up with the high SPF, though. Maybe its because I grew up in Canada and had to make the most of our horribly short summers. Toronto is pretty good for evil heat and humidity in July and August. I can't wait!

Big time. I wish I had something profound to say. I wish I could help. The best I can do is offer my support and sincere best wishes for both Rob and his wife Barbara. Everyone here in my household is thinking of you both.

Totally non-tattoo related, but today is my wife's birthday and we are celebrating by seeing one of my all time favourite bands. Huh. Ya, I know. I booked the tickets and then realized it was the same night as her birthday. So, I guess its awesome for me... I'm such a jerk.

Gorgeous! Is that a Savannah cat?

2014 Montreal Art Tattoo Convention
Mark Bee replied to Graeme's topic in LST Get Togethers & Tattoo Conventions
I think by the end of it all we will have to carry you to the poutine place and have it blended into a slurry for you. At least, that's the shape I'd be in after sitting that long. -
I've never figured out how cats seem to magically become pieces of lead when one tries to move a contented cat from a lap. Calvin puts on about 40 pounds when I try to move.

Every time I see someone with huge swaths of black, I always wonder what it is they are covering up. How bad was it? If you are happy with having a large blacked out section, then go for it. Probably the best advice though, is to go into a good shop (people here can point you in the right direction - I live in Canada, and my knowledge of Utah shops is slim to none, or I would suggest a place.) and ask a tattoo artist for advice. If you post a pic of the tattoo in question, you might get some more detailed feedback.

I wanted to staple a swatch of low-pile carpeting on our wall so i could lean into it and scratch away. My wife vetoed the idea. -
2014 Montreal Art Tattoo Convention
Mark Bee replied to Graeme's topic in LST Get Togethers & Tattoo Conventions
I found the situation very distracting last year. It was kinda nice to have so much to check out while Chad was drilling for oil on my legs. I'm sure a bunch of us will do walk-bys to see how you are holding up throughout the day. Good times ahead! -
@MadeIndelible Good luck and best wishes. It can be beaten and life will improve. You have a ton of support here and we are all pulling for you. Work your program!

Nice - mine is on Saturday. Hopefully I'll be able to come down on Friday, but my teaching schedule for the fall won't be available for several more weeks. Are you going to stay for Saturday? (and Sunday?) @Shaun1105

Good stuff! The convention is great, plus there will be an LST meet-up as well! When is your appointment?

@CABS First tattoo - wow. Go big or go home, huh? That's awesome. Grats to her.
-
Wow. That seems like a lot for four hours. I'd have broken long before that!

Tattoo'ed professional considering laser tattoo removal
Mark Bee replied to hokiegal's topic in Initiation
"The last thing I want is a patient to come in, see my tattoos, think I am uneducated and irresponsible..." I don't have much interest in perpetuating stereotypes. The best way to attract clients would be to be very a very good doctor. Until you grow a reliable, stable, practice, wear long sleeves. -
I hate outlining. Hate. It. Hate. Hate.

Just booked with R.H. Wells at the Montreal convention in September.
