Ok, so I had my consult. It went very well - Johannes is a pretty cool guy and very knowlegable. He probably thinks Im a little flakey as I changed the idea from the dagger to the rose (but before I got there). We bounced some ideas off one another, I gave him the framework for what I was looking for and he put some rough drawings together. I now have and appointment for 2-2!

Jiro dreams of sushi is a great documentary. Headhunters - if you can deal w subtitles it is a great flick. - - - Updated - - - I didn't know it was on Netflix! I streamed the entire series through hbO go Really good series. Mrs and I went back to parks and rec from season 1 and are really enjoying it

Would anyone go on tattoo nightmares - ink master - best ink etc?

I have three mediocre tattoos and my wife has two pretty bad ones. I plan on, or want to plan on getting at least 4 more. She only has plans for 1 more. With that she doesnt want me to get any 'Big' pieces. or really dark pieces, which Im ok with - for now anyway. We both have 1 that we watn to get covered - hers will be pretty easy as its only some line work. Mine is full color and im in no rush to get it covered until I start running out of room!

I have my consult on wednesday, so Im pretty stoked!

Yeah I'm going to get a koi and dragon in one flowing piece, but need to decide the who and when. I'm pretty fixed on where it will be - - - Updated - - - These images are a great reference to who is doing what that is great!

I Don't See this as busting balls. Good advice. I drive by this shop all the time and it about 2-3 miles from where I live. I popped in there a few weeks ago and talked to one of the guys there. He told me any one of them could do a koi - that concerned me at the time so I stepped back to do some research. That's how I ended up here.

Im pretty sure that he had your piece pictured on his site. If you dont mind me asking how long did that take? Assume 1 sitting?

So the three upcoming pieces I am thinking of getting: No idea of who is going to do them, but throwing it out there. 1 - a photorealistic dagger on my calf - Dagger is called a Skaen Dubh (skane dooh) or black dagger. It is part of traditional scottish highland dress. I would get it w\ a sheath, partially pulled from the sheath. it would also incorporate my family Clan Badge on the sheath as well as a Thistle in the end of the handle an have some drapery using my Clans colors (the colors may not be palatable as they are yellow and green, so would need to discuss that with the artist).. Could also go w\ this idea w\ a litte bit of newer school. 2 - a Koi transforming into a dragon as he crests the waterfall over my left bicep - shoulderblade. Probably really try to go to someone really good for this one. probaby thinking of taking my time with this one and going to State of Grace in San Jose. Alot of planning will need to go into this one. 3 - some peace roses (pink & peach) over my heart, with my kids footprints at birth for wings. Again no idea where I would go for this one at the moment. 4 - I have a cartoon bulldog on my ankle - Spike - and he needs to be cleaned up and I would like to add Chester to it. (if you are aware of the cartoon - "this is my buddy spike - hes so big and strong" from loony toons). I would probably go to a new school artist for this one but it will be pretty simple and small. I have contacted Johannes about possibly doing 1 or 3 (i actually sent him all of them, but am thinking he would do well with 1 or 3). If I get them all in the next two years, I think that is a bit aggressive (also the first time I go, I need to schedule an appt for my wife also as she wants to get some work done too).

Ok, So how long do you think it will take for an artist to get back to me with dates for a consult? If he doesnt like my idea, will he just not get back to me? (I know Im a nudge, just emailed him a couple days ago - my expectations are usually out of line w\ expectation of communication)

Hey all, New guy here from Boston, MA. I have 3 fairly old tattoo's from the early 90's (when you couldnt get tattoo'd in Mass!). They aren't very good. Probably not going to get them covered. But Im starting to work on lining up my next peice. I have a few things that I want, and am looking for a good artist locally. Willing to drive too, but that significantly complicates things as time is of the essence. I will be posting in other threads of what I am looking to get, where and advice on artists. Thanks for having me!
