  1. Damn ten years of planning! Welcome to LST tattoo forum. Who is doing your tattoo and where? How'd you decide on that tattooer?
  2. Thanks Jake. As for LA, yeah there are tons of tattoo shops in LA but among the many there are some tattooers and shops that Kat can not compete with! This list is in no order and just a quick one cup of coffee list of tattoo shops that I think others could provide deeper ones....... Here it goes: Spotlight Tattoo Darkhorse Tattoo Goldrush Goodtime Charlie's Tattooland Will Rise Tattoo (Just got turned on to this shop recently and seeing some tattoos I like) Shamrock Social Club Also rather than Kat at her shop if this shop appeals to you, Dan Smith does great tattoos Also for San Diego don't forget Two Roses in Oceanside which should be about thirty minutes closer to LA than downtown SD. Hope this helps and look fwd to seeing the tattoos........
  3. The time has come where large companies are offering discounts to people who get their logos tattooed on them. I have heard of this before and know a few restaurants who offer deals if you have their logo tattooed but larger companies are catching on. This is a whole new level of "branding". We've seen the kids who get payed to be the billboard for companies plus some others but now Ecko clothing offers the below quoted section. I guess everyone or almost everyone has a price, so what's yours? Would you ever consider a companies logo tattooed on you? How much? Would it be an upfront payment or lifetime discount or??????? Do you already have one, pls tell.......

Cool Lady Head! Thanks for sharing the new tattoo pictures.
  5. Thanks for joining our tattoo forum. Some months back I started this Luke Wessman thread here on LST, did you get to check it out? If you get tattooed by Luke pls post the tattoo picture as well as any other tattoos you may have or get. There are some good tattooers in San Diego as well as LA which is pretty close depending on where in SD you are at.
  6. Just watched instantly the Family Business over the past two nights and had never heard of this film. Sean Connery, Dustin Hoffman, and Matthew Broderick. I love Connery films! The best bond. Glad to hear Moon is decent as it has been sitting in my instant que for sometime but haven't been able to bring myself to watching it.
  7. Here are some back piece pictures that caught my eye recently: -Mike Wilson of Inksmith and Rogers Tattoo -Wish I knew who did this as I love it! Anyone? -Jason Macafee of Temple Tattoo -Freddy Corbin of Temple Tattoo and Tattoo 13 -Derrick Snodgrass of Temple Tattoo
  8. Here's a photo of an old Lyle Tuttle tattoo from 1969 on Terry Richardson's mother.
  9. Nice new avatar pic.

Thanks for the comment on the new icons....Steve actually hooked them up. We're slowly adding our own flavors to the template we started this forum with which includes some badass new features we are sorting out.

Thanks for riding this ride with us since the beginning.

  10. Today is the last day of March which means tomorrow is the first day of April which is you know what......What are your favorite April Fools Day shenanigans you've done, seen, and/or heard about? Pictures and VIDEOS would be awesome if you've got them........
  11. haha, thanks everyone. Nothing too exciting just a busy day of work, research and now an early night leaving town tomorrow (SAC) for the day for a mtg on a new contract with the state I just found out I was granted around linguistics and psychology which I am very very excited for. It'll be my first time doing the Amtrack line to SAC so should get to do work with a new view.
  12. For seafood a nice little San Francisco gem is Anchor Oyster Bar in the Castro in SF is my favorite seafood restaurant. I'm still yet to find an indian place that is a must eat regularly though Clay Oven in the Haight in SF is consistently good. Ike's sandwiches is a supposed gem in SF though I am yet to try. But for sandwiches in Oakland it's Genova which is on the same block as Tattoo 13 (Freddy Corbin's other shop in Oakland).

    what up!

Thanks for joining LST Tattoo Forum. What tattooers do your favorite irezumi and black & grey tattoos?
  14. Nice post, thanks for weighing in on that one. When do we get to see this body suit as that list is impressive and always enjoy seeing their work?

Where'd you do your undergrad or grad at? Are you currently working in psych? We have a few people on this site that work in various psychology avenues.

  15. I believe it was Seventh Son, thanks. Good call on Spider Murphy's.
  16. I think it is a great topic and am happy you joined us and posted as unfortunately there are people out there with not so great people skills working in professions that we hope had better people skills as their job descriptions requires daily interactions and when we run into them we wonder, "why the hell are they in a profession with people when they can't be civil". But such is life in various professions so I try to kill them with kindness if possible and given the opportunity not give them my business. We hear endless stories of people who probably shouldn't be in various professions that they are in as well as tattooers & tattoo customers with tough guy non-verbals and verbals that leave us thinking "WTF". Sometimes we suck it up and goto them anyways cause their product is that good as mentioned in this thread and sometimes it is just not worth it. My main work is consultations with people in the arena of various psychology practices/theories and "helping" staff, agencies, and clients/patients/etc gain better retention and effectiveness with efficiency and I still run into people who "disturb" me with their intentions and definitions of "helping". I sometimes want to say "you do this work why?" But I try to remember they may just be having a bad day though when the pattern is established I tend not to work with them and/or their agency very long as it doesn't make sense in my mind or ethics.
  17. Was waiting to see if you'd have a car.....so know that we know... Tattoo Shops in SF: -Blackheart Tattoo (given) in SF, Nick Rodin and Cody Miller (does some cool lettering among other things) do great tattoos and both should be easier to get in on a last minute tattoo over Lehi, Puente, or Rassier, & Sylvia though you never know... -Temple Tattoo in Oakland, they all once again do radicool tattoos though I've been watching Heath Preheim & Derrick Snodgrass but can't seem to see enough tattoos from these two and would enjoy seeing more, hint hint if you get tattooed by one of these two pls post pictures though all pictures will be enjoyed! -Hogg suggested one recently in SF that caught my eye but I can't remember....HOGG? -State of Grace in San Jose -Plus some others though these in my opinion are the ones but my opinion is biased I know that. Food in SF & Bay Area: -This is even more of a loaded question than tattooers and tattoo shops in the Bay Area so how about your top three types of food you like to eat or want to try and I think we could offer suggestions there as well.....
  18. I've been watching this thread since it popped up and have enjoyed seeing the respectful post from multiple perspectives of LSTers, thanks. I think some valuable feedback and ideas have been put out there. This sounds like a frustrating experience though to go in to any business from an entitled perspective as a customer we are bound to hit friction, sometimes aversion in our interactions, and overall unhappy outcomes. I do think some good feedback has been given and don't think verbal retaliations need to exist on this site. If that is what any LSTers are looking for I strongly encourage you to go elsewhere as this is one of the reasons we started LST as the other tattoo forums have too much of this negativity. We designed this forum in hopes of positive interactions from tattoo conversations to tattoo pictures to what-have-yous for both tattooers and tattoo customers. This thread is heading in a manner that I don't think it needs to go and honestly hope it doesn't as we don't need that here. This topic is a good one so if it is going to continue lets continue to go for overall ways to support/facilitate better interactions with the tattooers and customers who respect tattooing humbly.
  19. Thanks for joining our tattoo forum. Did you see the various tattoo history threads on here from The Pike, Chicago, Scotland, and more? So impressive.
  20. Look in the upper right of your page and click "Settings" then when the new page is loaded look to the left side of your screen under the box "My Settings" where you will locate "Edit Avatar" which will then take you to where you can upload. Let us know if you have further questions.
  21. Whether or not going to a dermatologist after a tattoo is strictly up to the tattooed as you know but want to put that out there as the feedback comes in. Is this a new tattooer to you? Is this your first tattoo or do you have several or??? If you have a few what is your normal healing process like. I tend to air on the less worried side though I think this has to do with mainly getting tattooed by people who have been around for awhile so I trust what they put in their pigments, techniques, sterilizations, etc. Red for me mostly itches, is raised, etc and is the hardest color for my body to retain but it normally ends up fine in the long run. Hope this helps.....
  22. Good morning. What kind of art do you normally do? You're in a good city for some great tattooers. Any tattooers or tattoo shops you've been gazing? I know many of us here in the US wish Stewart Robson and Valerie Vargas both from Frith St. Tattoo would come from London out here sometime soon......
  23. For anyone interested here is the latest that we have heard....The location for TLC's new tattoo reality show, NY Ink, has begun filming by taking appointments and doing walk-ins. The new tattoo shop is located at 43 Wooster in Manhattan, New York and named Wooster Street Social Club. From what we have heard around various tattoo communities the tattoo artist cast for the upcoming show to be aired around June 2011 is: -Ami James (Tattooer previously on Miami Ink) -Tim Hendricks (Tattooer previously on Miami Ink) -Tommy Montoya (Tattooer from LA) -Megan Massacre (Tattooer from Philly) -Billy DeCola (Ami James apprentice on Miami Ink who is now tattooing) Also... -Luke Wessman (Tattooer from Miami Ink and Lucky's Tattoo Parlor in San Diego) has been there tattooing these past few weeks doing walk-ins.
