Plus....I think I may be late to the party but I just discovered Kore Flatmo and his tattoos so here are three recent jaw dropper tattoo designs that got me: 1) this backpiece is just a hurricane of tubularness 2) this mary rib with the roses 3) mary sleeve with roses
  3. Welcome to the forum and happy you have found it useful as a resource for ways on being a respectful new tattoo customer plus deciding to post a thoughtful question. You live in a great city/area for some of the best tattooers so look forward to hearing who you decide to get tattooed by and pictures once you commit. As for your question, this is a question that has come up every now and then on this tattoo site and the majority vote from the tattooers is they would rather not discuss their finances/tips in a public arena. So my tip from one tattoo customer to another is tip how and what you feel appropriate. I may even go as far as suggesting asking the tattooer face to face this question as I have a feeling they would humbly answer your question if you goto one of the honest respectful tattooers we have in the bay area. hope this helps shine light on a tattoo subject/question the tattooers wish to keep out of the light.....
  4. Nico, see if this helps Last Sparrow Tattoo Smartphone App . I don't run either phone so haven't tried it yet. Let us/Steve know if you have further questions as he's our tech genie.

  6. Some new eagle tattoo design pictures: -Jason Mcafee Temple Tattoo eagle with panther Head -Oliver Peck Elm Street Tattoo eagle back piece as well as the little eagle tattoo -No idea on the one of the girl in the bed
  7. That back flip is ridiculous! here are two pictures I often find myself gazing at...
  8. After watching the upcoming tattoo artist video interviews we have in the LST dugout and the one of Tim Hendricks posted yesterday by Scott I figured I'd throw out a vague but wide open question for tattooers and tattoo customers that seems fitting. It doesn't need to be some long personal emotional story but curious how/why people got/get into tattoos as a profession, customer both one time and more interestingly repeat customer. SO...... Tattooers, why did you decide to become a tattooer? Tattoo customers, why did/do you decide to begin getting tattooed?
  9. Here's a blog I wrote on my trip to San Diego which has food in it. Most places are North County SD but some elsewhere in San Diego as well as check out the comment from Navy Dave as I haven't tried this place yet but it sounds awesome. Where in SD and helLA will you be? If you give us specifics we can probably narrow down some places otherwise we can list all over. Here are some first ones that come to mind: LA Food Mia Sushi in Eagle Rock is damn good. Dave's Chillin N Grillin in Eagle Rock is a must have if you're near there. Every time I'm visiting our homie Demian I eat there at least once! It's in my top ten sandwich joints hands down!! SD Food Juanita's in Encinitas is a must eat. There's a start.....
  10. Cool, have you looked at some of the stuff people in the forum in the other threads around tattoo cover-up and/or laser then tattoo over it have said? Some useful info from very knowledgeable tattooers as well as tattoo customers with much experience. I'd think the investment of laser then a good back piece would be the best long term investment financially, quality, and happiness wise...... Where are you located? Maybe some LSTers can suggest laser places and tattooers? Karl above with the username Jinxproof does laser removal and tattooing up in DC.....

  12. Welcome and thanks for signing up. I saw from looking around your profile and tattoo gallery you not only enjoy tattoos but also "good food"....we also do lots of eating and talking about it on our forum and blogs so we'll enjoy learning about what NC has.....
  13. For this round of The Three Questions I decided to turn to Ross Nagle whose tattoos I was introduced to via this forum when we started it. I was quickly impressed and it has turned into some email dialogues with him who I hope to meet and get tattooed by when we are in the same city hopefully sooner than later. Ross joined LST early in our launch and has been active since which is even more awesome because we get to see his new tattoos and hear from him often. Beyond his activity on the tattoo forums and tattoo blogs I regularly check his blog alongside several other tattooers and shops. I enjoy all his tattoos but really am drawn to his religious tattoos especially the black and grey ones with minimal if any color which in turn makes the blood on a jesus or crown of thorns or what-have-yous really stand out. The other cool thing about his shop and blog is that they regularly have some damn good tattooers guest spotting at their shop which they write about and post tattoo pictures of their tattoos while visiting. I strongly encourage you to get tattooed by Ross either at his shop Allstar Ink in Limerick Ireland and/or hit him up at a convention as he seems to be at many of the European ones. Below the three questions are someways you can checkout his tattoos. With that I give you The Three Questions and Ross Nagle (sorry no pictures of his personal tattoos were obtainable)...... 14. I wonder if there are any tattooers involved in their local politics and/or departments of public health? I know Scott and I were talking awhile ago about DPH and SF politics/meetings at city hall because I used to go them semi often due to work and advocating for various services in SF and funding so we were speaking on how they work. A colleague of mine just became the president for one of the SF commissions and he's been inviting me to get involved but I am still unsure and don't think it will interact much with DPH and tattoo shops but more mental health and substance use. What I am getting at is I wonder how active tattooers are in making sure their "trade" is accurately represented and voiced locally? Scott was saying there were some local non-tattooers trying to set something up but from the sounds of it, it sounded like piercers and people just trying to make a buck. I'm not a tattooer as is known but do know when you become a familiar voice, face, and have allies there your weight is weighed much more. IF you become a reliable source of knowledge they come to you and/or seek consultations around various policies............
  15. Happy your lurking turned into you deciding to join our tattoo forum. Have you decided on someone to do the cover-up tattoo? Would enjoy seeing some tattoo photo progress as you do it..... If you haven't seen the Full Back Piece Thread I strongly encourage it as the tattoo designs are insane!
  16. I just revisited/rediscovered this thread and hope it is not the last installment on the series of Chicago's tattoo history and/or new threads on other cities tattoo histories!
  17. I love looking at acetate stencils when I get the chance to see them and thinking how some of them have traveled ridiculous miles being sent from one tattooer to another, tattoo shop to shop. I really like that Owen Jensen eagle and snake...any chance of a close up pictures of it? Thanks for sharing these and look fwd to more from those willing to share....
  18. This article on tattoo colors caught my eye this morning as I've seen a few articles recently around the topic FDA Regulation and Tattoo Pigments getting written more often. Unfortunately I am yet to see one that captures perspectives that I would like to see represented so thought I'd try it on our tattoo forum...... My experience in mixing pigment is only helping a friend and I would say it was done very professional, sterile, and left me with no concerns in what goes into his and his co-workers homemade pigments. I still think Cody was messing with me by having me mix a whole bunch at once so later I could turn colors when showering and it wasn't until Scott was done tattooing that I was informed to do it a little differently to avoid a tornado of invisible color all over me and the shop when it met water or other fluids. So with that...thoughts on the idea of the FDA getting involved? Are these just side-effects of: -so many people getting tattoos and not knowing and/or getting paranoid in the healing process that they freak out and the number of concerns and complaints naturally increase to the local health departments? -people mixing pigment carelessly due to not knowing what they are doing? -the "beauty tattooers" ruining it for actual tattooers? -the government just trying to earn some extra bucks OR ????? Like I mentioned above this is a topic I see getting more and more press so would enjoy seeing some long time tattooers among everyone else's thoughts on this so I can get a better/truer perspective.....thanks.
