  1. Ha but I guess equal treatment for equal rights! Would I have expected him to stay if I wasn't a girl? Probably not!
  2. I may return this summer - to sit in again and see Mike and Angelo and Leena - still not sure
  3. My only deal w him was when I worked in Daytona at Gill Montie's. It was during bikeweek and I was alone in the shop - Royboy and his girl came in looking for Gill & while he was there about 5-6 some what menacing bikers came in & Royboy and his girl took off leaving me alone w them. One of the bikers took one of my machines. My only deal w Roy boy
  4. Thank you Bunny - I was flattered that Dave added me. I'll certainly let you know if I do plan a trip East--- if I do it will probably be a visit to Jacksonville to Inksmith & Rogers. I'll keep you posted- save a little space (;
  5. Well I'm pretty excited and nervous about a who knows when it will be published - interview for TAM. I was really flattered that Dawn Coooke asked to interview me for the magazine and surprised that Crash supported it. If you know me, you probably have realized that I' m not too big on self promotion----- but after my initial reaction of surprise---- I thought, why not go with it! In preparation, Dawn supplied me with some questions, but prepare as I tried I was not at all at ease come interview time. The interview took place during the State of Grace Show in SF this past October. I don't know what I expected , but I found my self a little at a loss for words ( which rarely occurs) and struggling with not bumbling like an idiot , in front of a sound man and a camera man and Dawn's at ease interview manner. Dawn was great though and after what seemed like an eternity, but in actuality was an hour and 1/2 -,2hours--- we finished up with the story of my 30+ year tattoo life. Now, if I can not sabotage myself, I just have to supply Crash w a video of me doing a tattoo & then off to print sometime in the near future. So, I'm pretty excited and I'll keep you all posted - when it comes out. Deb
  6. Slowly chipping away?, I think you're hitting it with jackhammer speed!haha----Jk but you do seem to be collecting some fun and terrific tattoos every time I see a post of yours(;
  7. Thank you very much Stewart for the kind words ---- Tattooing ,would quite possibly- not have been the same without them.
  8. And if you Really knew anything about tattooing you'd know there are only 88 fuck ups. Lol
  9. thanks Ursula---- it's debyarian-------- not yarin everybody does that 0;
  10. i guess things are different here in Alaska and that we are sooo out of the loop, but i"ve been here since 2000 and since that time i've only had 2 or 3 requests to do a design on a throat-- and only one face-- lettering on the jaw line. And that's that! We are way behind the times.
  11. I am by no means a great tattooer. I'm also not the luckiest person or the most savvy business person BUT I've been able to make a living tattooing for over 30 years now. Things keep changing and you've got to adapt.
  12. I would trade with any skilled craftsman or equally trained service person. I resent the expectation that I (a journeyman tattooer) would trade for services performed by an apprentice or someone still unskilled or untrained .
  13. I think the " courtesy margin " works well with "traditional" style tattoos --- but when someone comes to me wanting to tie there existing tattoos together into a cohesive sleeve--- I will often work right up to the existing tattoos.
  14. Next time I'll say " sure, my son is just starting, and he could use the practice!"
  15. I should be used to this by now... But I'm obviously not. So a prospective customer came into the shop today ( she has been in before looking at portfolios, consultation etc.) Now she wants to begin her sleeve and wants to know if we would be interested in trading because she is currently in training for( insert whichever : esthetician, hairdressing, massage therapy etc. ) Really? So you think that would be equitable if I after years of tattooing would trade with you who have not even completed your training?
  16. Just be polite, if it's not a family member or close friend. Do you think I'm fat? Do you like this hat? What's there to gain by being truthful? If they asked your opinion prior to getting the tattoo , that's another story.
  17. Benadryl or some other over the counter med might help if you're going crazy. My new tattoo was very itchy and it's been 2 weeks. Definitely worse at night, when I am tired.
  18. I lived in Georgia in the 80s and got to see a lot of Howard Finster's work. Loved it
