  1. Here's a great one from Guy Aitchison:
  2. It isn't even that he just blatantly ripped off the tattoo, it's that he kept restating that it was "his interpretation of heaven's gates" to justify the design at the bottom (which could've easily been changed). I don't understand why he would choose this design and try to pass it off as a representation of some kind of gate. I actually really like the original tattoo! Pavel's work is fantastic. As for this season, the only one that I like (and have heard of) is Jesse Smith. His work is crazy! I wouldn't get any of it personally, but he really shines in his style.
  3. Finally watched an episode from the first season. Holy fuck. It is painful. Al Fliction is such a joke, especially his half-assed rip off of a Pavel Angel tattoo. This was probably mentioned somewhere else in this long thread, but I had to air my frustrations with such a dumb show. I'm surprised that some really talented and recognized artists agreed to go on something like this. Strange.
  4. Hearing this makes me even more excited for my appointment with him in February!
  5. I've got a question @Mike Panic, in the video the red ink doesn't appear to be affected by the laser. How do they do the colours? I'm assuming they change the wavelength/intensity of the laser for different colours? Or maybe a different type of laser all together?
  6. I have one I'd consider lasering, though it isn't covering a lot of space on my body and it isn't particularly well done (first tattoo). I think it would be easy enough to just cover as is though! We'll see. I most certainly can't imagine getting an entire backpiece lasered!
  7. That's true, it is just surprising. Usually the work getting lasered is awful!
  8. The tattoo isn't even poorly done, and it doesn't look like he has any other work. Strange that you would get a tattoo of that size (which obviously required multiple sittings) and then regret it enough to laser it.
  9. Kind of posted about this in another thread, but I'll reiterate here. I'm currently in University, but I work in a hospital during the summers doing non-invasive cardiology testing (mostly pre-op), cardiac rehabilitation and knee/hip replacement surgery rehabilitation. Basically I'm always working with patients, physicians and other departments of the hospital. I always wear t-shirts and shorts and I've had nothing but positive reactions. I don't think I've ever had a negative reaction (save for my Dad's reaction to my first one). Usually the tattoos serve as an ice breaker with patients and initiates conversation. Lots of elderly patients have nice things to say about it, with the usual questions like "did that hurt?" and "what does it mean?" I always enjoy having a conversation about tattooing though, so I look forward to random questions from curious people! :)
  10. I've got a painting by Jef Bertels tattooed on my leg. I've shown Jef and he liked it! http://www.jefbertels.be/ Definitely check out his art! Edit: Here's the original painting!
  11. I hate seeing neck/hand tattoos when the person has no work on their arms, especially if they are younger. I think they focussed on how cool they felt they would look rather than the social implications of such a visible, hard to conceal tattoo.
  12. Hahah, I didn't even notice the Dunham thing. I was too focussed on the large area that is blacked out! Either way, I really enjoy that style of tattooing, but I wouldn't get it myself. Same goes for biomech/colour realism. I love looking at it, would never get it!
  13. Wow, I love how those Japanese bodysuits hold up after all these years! They look incredible!
  14. Lucky! I've never found Bactine to do anything for me. I've used Maxilene 5 on the longer sessions and it helped to take the edge off a bit!
  15. Thanks guys! I am so pumped for this sitting! Since we're on the topic, I'll post some more skulls! Filip Leu: Kurt Wiscombe: Bill Canales: Shige: Victor Portugal: :)
  16. Brandon Bond: Paul Booth (couldn't find a picture of the whole thing):
  17. I'd say it's a great idea, but I love huge blackwork pieces and japanese. I personally don't have any blackwork, but I really appreciate it when it's well done! I don't know your current tattoo collection on your arm, but even doing blackwork with some negative space patterns in it would be awesome too. Marc at Little Swastika does that kind of thing really well
  18. Here's a snake piece from Kurt Wiscombe, from early 2000 I believe!
  19. This is probably one of the best I've ever seen, by Brad Bako Before: After: I've always been impressed with this one by Toxyc
  20. I'm surprised everyone here has had such a hard time with their work and tattoos. I'm currently in University, but when I work in a hospital during the summers I do non-invasive cardiology testing, cardiac rehabilitation and knee/hip replacement surgery rehabilitation. Basically I'm always working with patients, physicians and other departments of the hospital. I always wear a black t-shirt and camo shorts to work. I guess this picture shows what is visible on me throughout the day (save for the foot tattoo and a shirt with a logo on it). I've never had any problems or complaints and it's been a couple years since I started there. Usually the tattoos serve as an ice breaker with patients and initiates conversation.
