I was in the May 3rd, 1999 tornado, also an F5...this shit is intense. This tornado cut a far wider swath of damage, as well. Poor Moore. I do question why these neighborhoods are built and rebuilt in this same area...in 2003 another tornado went through the same area that had been devastated by the '99 twister, and again the houses on this particular street were razed to the ground. Though, like the rest of the center of the country, the neighborhoods etc are built right off the highway, which makes things considerably easier transpo wise...actually I don't think it matters when it comes to tornados. They just do what they're gonna do. Though, honestly, if I had to choose between an earthquake, a tornado, or a hurricane, I'd pick a tornado in an instant. The devil you know is better than the devil you don't, I suppose. @EzRider, glad you and yours are safe. Let's hope we hear from @Scott R soon.

Live Updates from the Devastation in Oklahoma City Luckily I am not currently in OK and my family is all safe and accounted for, but I know we have a few Okies on the forum here...did everyone make it out okay from yesterday's tornado? More storms expected today. My thoughts are with my Okies!

Interesting topic, @ironchef! I don't have too much time to post at the moment, but it brings to mind a few things I've been chewing on for awhile now, mainly: what impact do the images you permanently mark yourself with have on your life/life energy, if any? Robert Ryan had some interesting things to say about this in his interview in the most recent Tattoo Culture Magazine (voodoo symbols and a guy dying soon after the tattoo was finished) (I'm writing this quickly, forgive me for any sloppiness!), and I remember at some point, somewhere (don't remember where!) reading that Horiyoshi 3 was tattooing his son and had not finished either one of the symbols or some of the characters...dammit...I don't remember and now I will be looking for this article to post here. The point is that something wasn't finished, something 'bad' or unlucky happened, and once the characters were finished the imbalance was righted. Soo...this is a good topic, and I will look for more interesting and specific references before posting again. And I'm definitely looking for the Horiyoshi article, grrr! Forgive sloppiness and quick posting! Will right THIS imbalance soon enough!

@keepcalm Your artist will work with the existing image but will probably have suggestions for how to turn it into a proper tattoo, so as far as the funky shape goes, hopefully your artist is already on top of it! Which end do you want up, the ship or the lion? I think I initially saw the lion on your flank (side butt haha) which would put the ship up on your shoulder. It would be kinda neat to get your whole shoulder in there and continue on down the side of the body to the flank. But looking at it now it could make an excellent backpiece, again starting on your flank on one side and wrapping around across your butt and up to your opposite shoulder. Err...I'm not really sure if any of that was too clear or helpful. I am not an artist, only a collector! So I started to look for cool side pieces to post for inspiration...and it appears there is a dearth of good side tattoos on the internets...or today I am bad at searching. Help, LST! Show me some good side pieces, stat! And actually, while we're it at: Is it "sidepiece", "side piece", or "side-piece"? All of the above? @keepcalm check out this link from Snopes : Thick Talk, it states that our hair does not actually grow back thicker and darker! Mayo Clinic corroborates here, as does this post from Aetna's InteliHealth, as reviewed by members of the faculty at Harvard Medical School. Looks like you don't have to worry at all!

@keepcalm I have not experienced any crazy hair growth from any of the areas shaved on my arm for the tattoo - I think you'll be fine! There is literally no difference in the hair that has grown back vs. the hair that was vs. the untouched areas around the tattoos - this includes my forearm. There's my $.02!

@Kev you're killing me! maaan...looking at these kids is making me not like tattoos...jk...but...maybe just a little. Okay, maybe it's just them...but...grrr...normally seeing a tattoo gives me some sort of endorphin rush/sleepy little high (yeah, weird, huh?)...these are not activating those same pathways... WTF is it with selfies = modeling? Narcissim + vanity + instagram = THE NEW GUARD????? = kill me now. I would not bone any of these dudes. Just sayin'. These guys are the anti-boner.
