I freak out about too much sun, and for the past 9 years I have been really happy with the usually gray Seattle weather. THIS SUMMER, BROUGHT TO YOU BY GLOBAL WARMING: MY TAN. I have a tan. This is a once in a lifetime event. (Actually 3rd in a lifetime). I am kind of freaking out over it though? All I'm thinking is SUN DAMAGE and I'VE RUINED MY TATTOOS. And it's actually causing me anxiety. Reading through this I can see that clearly I just need to relax and enjoy the fact that I've upped my Vit D and my outdoors time, but I do feel the anxiety in the pit of my stomach. Gaaaah. You're right, I'm in Seattle! Depends on what kind of work you want @WesK. Liberty is excellent if you want traditional work. I can't fully tell what your tattoo is...is it a dragon eating it's tail? For Japanese stuff I would check out a few different shops, but starting at Slave to the Needle is a great place to start! I would check out Dark Age Tattoo for darker stuff, bio-mechy stuff etc. These are all in Seattle proper, so if you're looking for stuff in Tacoma, let us know!

Has anyone been keeping up with the Horyioshi 3/Horikitsune v Shige fight that's been blowing up on instagram? I saw some stuff yesterday but it appeared to be losing steam. @mike.aka.theathens on instagram had more to say today, posting a Shige bodysuit and a Filip Leu bodysuit from 1999, calling out Shige for copying! I know on the board here we have discussed outright thievery vs. an homage to the original - anyway - this is something going on. Anyone have any thoughts or know anything about what sparked all this? Edited to add screencap for clarification.

I am getting tattooed in the Japanese style on my back, left leg, and right arm. (right arm is still blank!). Left arm, right leg and front are being saved for traditional pieces! That said, I'm struggling with the idea of doing my blank arm in the traditional style because a) i like it and b) i wanna get it started! although nothing is really stopping me from starting it, so...?

@Beans I know what you say to be true. If you've got a choice, schedule around it! You can deal if you have to, obvs, but it's unnecessarily unpleasant and can be avoided.

I really like lightning in tattoos. It's a feature I've noticed myself noticing more and more. Gotta get some on me!

I'm not sure what brain bug got me started on tattoos in porn this morning, but somehow I got to thinking about it, and then I thought "well, maybe there are some good tattoos out there" and navigated over to (what looks to be) a well-trafficked porn site, and typed "tattoos" in the search box. Sure enough, I see plenty of tattoos. I'm looking at this girl's thigh piece when all of the sudden: vagina! I blinked and resumed looking at the tattoos, and then: butt hole! This kept happening and annoying me for awhile before I fully realized that I was watching porn and not looking at a tattoo website. Facepalm to the nth degree, because I totally knowingly went to a porn site to look at tattoos, and then got annoyed at all the T & A ruining my tattoo experience, and then realized T & A *was* the experience, and I had just trolled myself. PS - I also read playboy for the articles. ;) <drops mic> Val out.

@SeeSea @Fala +1 on loving my hips and thighs because of tattoos! so much! and I can't really speak to "aging" at this point in my life, but I know when my mom's friends saw my tattoos they were like "oohhh, I can see how that covers cellulite right up". (and in my personal experience, tattoos sure as hell do!) (also I find myself favoring my more heavily tattooed side in the mirror anyway...it's pretttttty awesome ;))
