The one thing I can't seem to find, and maybe I'm just being too needy, is an EDC that carries ultra-deep and doesn't have a stupid looking clip. One of the best looking clips IMHO is on Spyderco's Which are spendy, and are not assisted open. SOG makes the Flash 1 / 2, which is super deep, but I'm meh on the design. The other problems I'm finding a lot of assisted open knives that have clips that ride deep that are tip down only carry, which I hate.

There are a few places you can go to for training, Colorado, Texas and Arizona are where the big facilities are. Finding actual laws per state is a total bugger, as is acquiring malpractice & liability insurance. My suggestion is to call a local insurance rep who handles medical malpractice, those are the people who have to stay up to date on laws. Some states require an off-site MD to sign off on any tech who operates the laser, some states require an on-site MD, but a tech can operate the laser and there are a few states, like NJ for example, where only an MD can operate the laser. A good portion of the country does not have any iron-clad laws though and anyone can operate a laser. Also, do NOT buy a China-made laser off eBay.

That's a great question @Dennis, without going into all the boring details, both of those factor into doing treatments but black & red are actually treated almost identically. With that said, what you see as "affected by the laser" isn't actually anything more than water vapor exploding within the layers of skin, that's white color looks like. If you watch towards the end of the video the video pans back to where they started and you can see the white has started to go away, this usually happens 5-15 minutes after the area has been treated. Because the laser only facilitates the immune system to dispose of the ink, you don't actually "see" the fading right away. Most people will see more fading between weeks 3-6 of treatment than weeks 1-3, and this is assuming you take a photo before hand to compare it with. What I usually tell people is that tattoo removal is similar to weight loss / gain. If you look in the mirror every day you might not notice that over a 6 week period you put 10-15 pounds on, because you see yourself every day. A friend you don't see on a regular basis will see the difference. That's part of the reason we document every treatment, for a comparison / reference. If the treatment facility "you" go to doesn't, I'd suggest doing it for yourself.

In my experience, that's not true, in fact that only accounts for about 1/3rd, maybe 1/2 of my business. Sadly, I lived through the early / mid 90's when anyone who had a visible tattoo, or a facial piercing was a vagrant, low life or non-employable punk, according to society. About 1/4 of the clients I'm seeing are removing tattoos not because they are awful, but because they got something small a decade or more ago in "prime real estate" and now want to do a sleeve or larger piece and it's in the way. Another 1/4 of clients have sub-par quality tattoo's from the early and mid 90's, and simply don't want them anymore. The number of people who are having "regretful" tattoos removed is far lower than you might actually think. The sub titles in that video explain the process, but it hurts. The vacuum like thing you see in that video blows cold air onto the skin, a about -30f, some people like it some don't. Most people will tell you that a treatment feels like a hot rubber band being snapped over and over. I'd say from my experience that feeling is pretty accurate. What many don't understand is that the time per treatment is a fraction of the tattoo time, which you see in that video. They go through about 1/4 of the back in 4 minutes, that tech is very experienced, some may take a little longer to cover the same area. Most (including myself) feel no pain within minutes of the treatment ending, and by the time the heat dissipates your skin (totally within about 20 minutes) you're left with virtually no pain at all. The most amazing thing to me was the shower the following morning, expecting the sunburn feeling from being tattooed, there is no shower pain. The skin is also not sensitive to the touch. Answering the 2nd part of your question, if the client properly treats the treated area, within 4-6 weeks another treatment can be done. Most people are suitable to receive another tattoo 8-12 weeks following their last treatment (wither lightening or total removal). In my personal experience healing mine, the skin "looks" normal after about 3 weeks. The best thing I can do to further explain it is this: As a kid, I'm sure you had a scab. If you waited a few days to pick the scab, so it wouldn't again bleed when it came off, under it you'll see a shiny, almost silver-like skin. That appearance on my skin was totally gone within about 25 days. Since tattoo removal relies almost entirely on how well your immune system disposes of the fractured ink partials, you'll continue to see fading of a treated area for up to 6 months in some clients.

OK so hate ratios, fine. I have fiber (Verizon FiOS) to my house and never have speed issues, and without people seeding stuff, you can't leach. I never understood how / why people have problems or hatred towards them. I've been in the game since pre-Napster days and have never had an issue keeping a ratio or finding what I need on a torrent site, public or private.

Correct, yellow and blue do take longer / more treatments, however because they are so light, it's probably going to be easier, cheaper and faster if you're artist just covers them up with new ink, if that makes sense.

Honestly, the longer you can wait the better. Your body's immune system will continue to dispose of the pigment for up to 6 months, but a "best case" scenario would be 8-12 weeks after your last laser treatment you should be good for fresh tattoos. Keep in mind, you want the skin's surface to be totally healed, but just because that is doesn't mean everything under it is too. If you have doubts, talk with both your laser operator and your tattoo artist.

The reason they say "big" cats, is to cover is a falsehood, you're actually attempting to hide the original tattoos with one over it. Cover ups, by nature, tend to be very large in comparison to the original piece and very dark. That said, because so much of your "add a sleeve" tattoo is light in color, going over it with something like a tiger or other big cat should be pretty straight forward. The part where you're in luck is that black / red are the fastest to be removed from laser treatment, so the three circular pieces, which is where I'm guessing you started originally, would most likely be the only ones your artist may suggest you lighten. All the factors aside, 3-6 treatments should be more than enough to give your artist a better starting point. Before you go forward though, talk with the artist, have them start sketching out what you want based on placement, and see what they suggest you do or don't get lightened in order to facilitate the piece you really want. From that point, you may be able to work the filler material for around the big cats.

There's a gun thread, figured I'd start one on every day carry (EDC) knives. I didn't carry for a long time, mostly because I can't stand a lot of crap in my pockets, between an iPhone, keys, wallet, didn't want a knife too. Most of my friends swear they couldn't live without having one. One day I randomly see a knife that visually appeals to me, the Gerber Mini Remix. Now, it's functional, sharp for what it is, but it sucks to open. For a $16 knife, I'm happy for what it is, but this will most likely end up in my car's glove box, or putting it on a carabiner and clipping it to my hiking backpack for extra knife. One handed, it's not the easiest thing to open. Open, it's very useful and think the size is perfect, if not smaller is better here. In the pocket, I really like how low it sits. All that being said, I've now been bit by the EDC bug and am looking for a assisted opening knife. Looking for some suggestions. I like thin, clean design, which is vein of me to say but design does matter here. I'm also not a huge fan of plastic / poly frames, prefer aluminum or steel. Also really prefer it to ride low in the pocket and expose very little if possible. Silver or black is open. What I've been considering is the Kershaw Leek In that photo, which is somewhat rare, the clip is shown installed in the alternative install, resulting in a tip-down carry. Stock, it comes installed at the other end and a huge chunk sticks out of your pocket. Every YouTube review / blog article I've read says this is an awesome EDC knife that borders on the gentleman's knife category. I also like that it comes in all black, although there's a serious up-charge for that. Thumb studs or flipper for open, downside that everyone says is that the tip is very thin and because of that is prone to breaking. I can get this for about $30. The other EDC I'm considering is the SOG TWITCH II By all accounts, this is what everyone directly compares the Leek to. It has a clip design that's meant to ride low, thumbstuds and flipper for opening, but have read a few less than favorable reviews on the lock it uses. Runs around $40. FWIW, I also don't like serrated blades on EDCs, hence me choosing knives without them. What are you carrying, what do you think is a perfect EDC / what do you look for in an EDC?

I've been to SF 3 times, can't say that anything really stands out for me. It's a cool city, just not one I'm personally in love with. Honestly, one of the things I do remember is some of the best sushi of my life, came from some random spot with 5 seats and you could see the ocean from their spot.

What would be required to finish it? It looks like it may have started as a simple arm tattoo that was converted to a sleeve perhaps? To remove it, you're looking at probably 12+ sessions due to the colors, possibly more if they split it up into 2 parts, upper / lower, to ensure you can properly heal it all. Probably a 2 year investment. How's your relationship with your artist? Do you like their work, are you happy with what they've done so far? Often times, the best work you'll get from an artist is when you let them finish it the way they want to, because it gives them a little more freedom to create and work.
