Mike Dorsey has been consistently incredible for the last 20 years, and people always seem to forget about him. Discovering him was one of the things that led me down the path to discovering good tattooing.
I already knew about good tattooing by the time I had met and actually held conversations with Mike. Between him and Kore Flatmo, those two taught me that tattooing doesn't have to be so serious. Have fun with what you do, don't give a fuck, and make bitchin paintings and tattoos.
Mike is honestly the most talented painter I know of. The way he captures the essence and emotion of the woodblock style is flawless. You would almost think he learn under one of the great ukiyo-e masters.

One of the most well done intro threads I have read. It will be a pleasure to have you around. Good luck in your artistic endeavors. Welcome to our little corner of the interweb.

If an image is too condensed(and that is lossely up to the individual tattooer) as the pigment ages in your skin, it is will tend to blure lines and such. Your tattooer is going to be in the absolute best position to make this call, but to answer your question, yes, as a tattoo ages it will spread slightly.

Well today i had my first session. On my back. And after 6 hours i was woord out. I was shakey And couldnt hold my pain anymore ( normally I can sit up till 10 hours at the time) so we called it a day. We did most outlines but next time we do the last couple of bits. And do the shading part. I underestimate how much pain and work this was going to be. And to be honest I feel like a pussy for tapping out. I feel really bad right now.

That amount of tattooing on your back is no joke dude! I would say you did damn well. I usually sit for 5 hours at a time on my back and its all I can do to remain functional.

I don't have the banhammer but lumping bluegrass and folk together with indie and alternative makes me want to pulp your balls with a hammer.
Hahaha. Point taken. Title could have been a bit better. It was emant to infer Bluegrass/Folk in their various forms.

Post of the year. Also, Two Gallants for the win @Brock Varty. I was lucky enough to see them at gilman a few times.. what a show.Really Really enjoy these guys right now man. Such good stuff. I would love to see them live, but they don't seem to play in my parts ever.

I've gotten to see a lot of the various Punch Brothers recently--Chris Thile made a stop here during his solo tour in October, and I caught Noam Pikelny when I was in Brooklyn, then the Punch Brothers around New Years. I'll probably go to their show at Oberlin in a month, too. The Chris Thile show in particular was a treat--whenever I want to feel like a lazy asshole, I google what he was doing. When he was say, eight.I enjoy the Punch Brothers almost only for Chris Thile. Dude can play a motherfucking mandolin like nobody's business!

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Welcome dude!!!!

Hey dudes!
I have been really into folky, bluegrass type music lately. I know we have some big fans of that here. I am always looking for bands and performers that other people like so I thought a thread for this type of music would be cool. I am going to post some of my current favorites and then you all can post away! Cheers!
The Punch Brothers
The Wood Brothers
Two Gallants
Bright Eyes
Of Monsters and Men
Oberhofer
The Avett Brothers
Old Crow Medicine Show
The Devil Makes Three
Pretty broad range of musical flavor; but I figured it is enough content for a cool thread!
Be gentle with the banhammer for musical opinions guys!

I'm lucky to live in NYC with so many good artists to choose from.
I can see myself getting future work from:
Anderson Luna
John Sultana
Daniel Albrigo
Daniel Trocchio
Darwin Enriquez
Regino Gonzalez
All of those guys are great but Daniel Trocchio and Regino are my favorites in that group. I have met Mr. Trocchio a few time...super stellar dude.

Greg Orie is in Endhoven, the Netherlands. Flights from the UK to Endhoven are cheap though.

Does this count?
What the fuck is even happening here? If this ever becomes the image of male attractiveness, bury me in the ground fast.

Get a banana hammock and you will be good to go!

Just a thought -- I wonder if people will start using 3d printers to make frames, maybe carbon fiber or something equally strong and light?
I believe the Halo Spectra frame is now printed in a 3D dealio. I remember seeing something to that effect on Instagram. I know there is one of those tiny rotories being printed...

Chris Crooks
Horikitsune
Stewart Robson
Is Greg Orie in England?

I've been pondering that lately, actually. I think it would look great if it were all done in lighter tones of grey. At least with my tattoos, what I have on my arms is mostly traditional with really strong silhouettes. So if the background patternwork would be subtle enough to not detract from the impact of the prior work, I think it could look DOPE
