I think that's the most fun way to get a tattoo. I'm getting tattooed by him on July 8th and have zero clue at the moment. Planning on picking something out of his book of drawings. @Bmore @Synesthesia I think you are worried over litterally nothing. Your tattoo looks great.
-
@Bmore I remember being blown away when chad posted that tattoo. Such a great one!

Love that tattoo! @Graeme the detail of the branches and leaves, not to mention the bird itself, is amazing.
-
Yes. I bet most of that fades away in the next few months.

I have other interests outside of tattooing. Motorcycles, knives, guns, and too a very small extent, watches (I say small extent because I cannot afford to be a watch collector, but I do like to look at them) I belong to a few enthusiast forums and this type of post has never come up. If you buy a lot of knives, or even a few select ones you are collecting knives...same goes for guns, and watches. I guess motorcycles don't apply since most folks that ride have one. I bet it would be fun to be a motorcycle collector though. I am more of a motorcycle enthusiast as I have one motorcycle, though would love a garage full of them Nothing wrong with collecting stuff. A lot of us here are pre-wired to do so. That's why we're here. To talk about the new tattoos we got or are getting, new prints or paintings we've picked up, conventions, guess spots, styles, etc.... If you do these things chances are you are a tattoo collector. Never heard it be used in a derogatory way by any tattooer. Most tattooers could be considered collectors as well I guess. Rob

Super nice. Don't touch a thing on it, but feel free and encouraged to get more tattoos around it.

@lape yeah, Jason Loui posted about it and the cover up pics on Instagram. good to know that for the most part that it's sanitary at these conventions. In the case of the knife company hosting a tattooer in their booth at blade show, it just seems a bit weird.
-
When were the pics taken in relation to when the work was done? Did this artist also do the wolf? Scratch the first question, just looking at the pics it's clear your leg is freshly shaved so these appear to have been taken directly after session. i think what you are prob seeing is red / yellows mixed in with irritated skin from the session.

I don't see scabs. I see skin healing and starting to settle. Tattoos look weird when they are healing and some look weirder than others. Those are pretty thick lines. May take a bit to settle. Its so easy to get freaked out by a healing tattoo. We all do it. Try and relax and I am sure everything will turn out well.
-
That looks fine to me. Consider it takes a full 6 weeks to heal a tattoo. I don't see any scabbing at all. Just the texture of your skin in the lines, which in my opinion, looks pretty normal. Different spots on the body heal at different rates, plus your body heals differently depending on your overall health at the time. I bet the lines calm down soon and the raised look will subside over the next few weeks. It looks like the tattooer purposely made some lines thicker than others. Relax. If there was something really wrong, I think it would have manifested itself a few weeks ago.

I appreciate the replies! @bongsau that must have been a really weird experience! Have an area dedicated to tattooing is what I assumed went on at these non-tattoo trade shows, however today i saw a post on Instagram by a pretty big knife company, advertising a tattooer that they are hosting in their booth at Blade Show. They are booking appts for him! That's right on the main floor and I just can't imagine it's a good idea. @Graeme I'd have to imagine this knife company is taking a cut of what the tattooer brings in. It is their booth after all. You would really have to love the knife company to be cool with it. It's bizarre. Like selling bicycles at a bake sale.

@polliwog I don't know who the tattooers are. I recently became aware of this. A very popular knife company posted today about a tattooer that will be working their booth at the blade show. His work seems to be mainly realism and new school so not someone I am familiar with, but (and take this with a grain of salt) has quite a few Instagram followers. I would think that overall, the answer is probably no.

Curious what folks here think of non tattoo conventions hosting tattooers. I, like most others here, have other interests outside of tattoos. I have noticed that folks are getting tattooed at conventions that have absolutely nothing to do with tattooing. Examples are: the annual Shot Show (a yearly gun industry convention) and also at Blade Show (Similar but for knives). I am not sure that these events are set up to be conducive to sanitary tattooing, and have heard a horror story, from a local tattooer around here, about a dude who spent 2 solid days getting tattooed at the shot show only to walk away with a wicked case of MRSA as his reward. Apparently the dude almost lost his leg the infection was so bad. I was so confused as to why someone would go to this big industry event to get tattooed. You've gotta imagine there has to be a few legit shops in the guy's area (apparently he's local, and yes there are). I can't imagine buying a gun at a tattoo convention, and I can't imagine getting tattooed at a gun convention. I am fairly open minded (my wife would seriously disagre) and am curious as to what the great folks here think of this. i don't normally start new threads so go easy..

That's nothing. I had to really zoom in to see it and it's really nothing. Sometimes when a line is healing it will look a bit blown out but will look fine once healed. This is just my personal experience. I wouldn't worry it.

INSANE!!!!!! @Graeme The placement is so great too! Ron is amazing.

Wow. Such an amazing story and incredible tattoo. Thank you for sharing!

I want to show that go fund me page to my kids as a lesson on what not to do in life. Begging people to pay for luxury items... I can't even.... if I were either of their parents..... I'd be so steaming mad.

Regarding pain- A few weeks ago, when I was getting tattooed by Jason Scott, Spencer Scott tattooed something small behind some girl's ear. I asked Jay what he thought the pain was like for something in that area. He said it's not particularly painful, but it is extremely LOUD and that seems to bother folks the most. Thought that was interesting since it's a spot I'll probably never have done.

Got this dragon head from Greg Christian when he was at Congress St tattoo! I have always wanted a dragon head from him and I absolutely LOVE this one. This was done on Saturday 4/30. The very next day Jason Scott finished up the background on my left arm. Super happy with the results of that as well and I will post those pics soon. It was super annoying to heal two arms at once, especially considering the Greg Christian piece is almost my whole inner forearm, and Jason Scott's work was from my elbow up to my armpit and shoulder. It was all worth it though in the end. Greg recommended using Tegaderm to heal the dragon head. Jason Scott had a roll of it, and between him, Greg, and Spencer Scott, they managed to get it on really well. I guess the stuff wasn't cooperating at first and it took a few tries (painful tries... put it on, take it off....) and a few different hands to get it on in the end. That stuff seemed to work like a charm. I've included a mostly healed pic as well. I say mostly healed because you can still see a few flakes of the second peel in that pic. I would definitely use it again. I healed Jason's stuff the normal way and that turned out really good as well. Very relieved and extremely happy as I find healing tattoos pretty stressful all around.

New and question for artists concerning others work
Rob I replied to Shaneprice's topic in Initiation
Let's break this down for a sec. You recieved work that you were happy with from said tattooer. You've reached out explaining that you would like to pay this person to do more work in the same subject matter. This person barely responds to you and doesn't want to do more Christian imagery that you want on your arm. Am i correct? Why the f*ck do you feel like you need to stick with this person who clearly is not interested? Find someone else and don't think twice about it. But stick around, let us know where you're from and we'll help direct you to someone great and less of a diva in what they will or will not tattoo.
