If you look at the pictures on that article and are still so confident that he's taking adequate precautions that you're willing to bet a million bucks on it then I accept your bet and I hope you have the money to pay up. Please point out to me where his clip cord cover is.

Obvious comments about people getting the infections...errrrr...tattoos they deserve aside, this guy is an idiot. Given that it's a pretty nasty feature of contemporary capitalism that it's even harder to make a living as an artist, illustrator, photographer, musician, writer, etc. because increasingly fewer people want to pay for that kind of work--not to mention the number of other careers that now practically require countless hours of unpaid labour in the form of internships--there's nothing at all "refreshing" about working for free. Maybe if these people actually valued artists and paid money for art that instead of complaining about how they, the oh-so-romantic-Jawbreaker-is-my-favorite-band perpetually starving artists, don't have money for things like tattoos (but please don't ask them how much money they spend on drugs), they would have money for things like tattoos. Maybe they'd have to live on tighter budgets, pick up extra shifts at work, wear clothes and shoes a little longer, and so on, to save the money to get tattooed and that it would be worth it because if you love tattoos you'll find a way to make it work even if it doesn't mean instant gratification. Not to mention that if you have a respect for tattooing as a craft, or shit, for crafts and craftspeople in general, that you should understand that this stuff always comes at a price and that the craft isn't less "pure" because of it. I can't wait for the hipsters to be eradicated by a plague of hepatitis.

Really awesome! Thank you for sharing your tattoos with us and welcome to LST!

From what I understand that's not uncommon. I haven't experienced it personally, but when I was working on my arm there were a couple of occasions where Thomas said that I would possibly have a fever the next day. We finished my arm with a long session and he recommended taking Aleve to fight the onset of a fever and to help a bit with the pain and soreness. I'm actually kind of surprised that I haven't reacted like that since I tend to get fevers kind of randomly a couple of times per year. And yeah, I think it makes total sense given that your body is dealing with trauma and is healing a fairly decent sized wound.

Welcome, sounds like you'll fit in well here! Who have you been tattooed by?

I'll second that. Unless there are three-boobed aliens there. Then I'm down. -
@tattooedj Welcome to LST and please keep us updated with how it goes! Poster @RoryQ has been getting tattooed by Tomo and the pictures he's posted on his progress are pretty spectacular.

December 2013 Tattoo of the Month Contest
Graeme replied to Iwar's topic in LST Announcements & Contests
Is it a LST record that a tattoo of the month contest only lasted 9 minutes? -
I will also say that one of the things that really floors me about his tattoos, especially when you see them in person, is how well they sit on the body. His tattoos look like they belong there, and have always been there, if that makes any sense.

If you had something from a great tattooer it should be immediately obvious who did it, at least to people who know what they're looking at. No signature should be necessary.

An unsolicited word of advice from somebody who doesn't tattoo, but who works in an industry where people do it out of "love" and "passion" instead of money or glamour: you might want to do something that you love, but people make a living off of this. This is how they support themselves and their families, and diminishing those incomes isn't necessarily the best way to support and show a love for tattooing.

You should absolutely come to the 2014 convention, and we can do a LST poutine meetup again. I am not sure about the Crise Cardiaque though. That guy makes it look almost easy but I have had trouble waddling out of that place after one of their poutines, so a good share of fifteen pounds of it might be too much for me.

Ontario politician shocks her constituents!

@Gregor @Johannes @slayer9019 If you want our politicians you are more than welcome to them. -
@Pugilist @Mark Bee @BrianH This man achieved by himself what we weren't even willing to attempt as a decent-sized group. 2014 Montreal convention, we try to redeem ourselves?

Welcome! Really nice work, who is doing it?

I work a physical job as well, and one that has me working with high temperatures (steam and boiling liquids) and some fairly nasty chemicals, but I don't really take any special steps to protect myself other when I'm healing. Maybe I'll put on a longer pair of gloves instead of nitrile examination gloves when I'm dispensing chemicals, but I don't wear long sleeves all the time. As it is, only short sleeves are allowed according to the dress code, though visible tattoos aren't allowed. Go figure.

I know Warren Ellis through his comics, I didn't know he wrote novels though. I'll keep that book in mind, but I'll probably hold off on it for a while given that the subject of the book is probably a little too close to my day-to-day at the moment for it to be much of an escape.

@suburbanxcore Thanks for the report and pictures and that rose and dagger is a perfect tattoo! -

I love Portal. I think they're the best tech-death band since Gorguts. Shit is ridiculously technical--look at those fingers scrubbing those fretboards--but they're using that technicality to create a real sense of discomfort and unease instead of just being showoff wankers. They're a difficult listen though, certainly not something I want to listen to everyday.

I have been reading a fair bit of Thomas Ligotti lately. I read Songs of a Dead Dreamer and I'll probably finish Noctuary tonight. I wouldn't mind rereading Teatro Grottesco sometime soon, but that is a lot of darkness in a short period of time so maybe I'll give it a bit of a break. Ligotti is amazing though, he's this contemporary horror writer who writes supernatural horror maybe not so far off from Lovecraft in the sense that his stories often feature some kind of malevolent evil beyond human comprehension and understanding, though the evil is a lot more vague and nebulous that it is in Lovecraft's universe. Sometimes his stories are just weird. I highly recommend him to people into that kind of thing.

Welcome. The best thing you can do if you want a coverup is to find an artist and talk to him or her about it. Do you have any idea of what you're interested in stylistically? If you let us know where you live we can suggest some good artists around you.
