    Hello!

    Welcome!
  3. Great thread, here are some pictures of the animals I share a home with: This is Daisy, she's a five year old retired greyhound who we adopted just over three years ago. She rules. The grey cat is Susan and the orange one is Willa. We've had them for around five years. They were from the same litter and have been coddled literally from birth. Their mom was a stray who was taken in by friends of friends and they read somewhere that you can best socialise cats if you cuddle them for at least five minutes a day, so they've never known a day without affection which makes them the most affectionate cats I've ever met, but they also have no survival instincts. I love them.
  4. I am biased towards greyhounds, but really, all dogs are awesome.

    Trolls

I have a little d20 tattooed on me if that will help derail the thread. This is a terrible picture of it though because it is damned hard to take a picture of your own arm.
  6. What a tattoo "means" is going to change over the course of your life. It becomes part of you and part of your experiences. Don't compromise the design of it for something that is meaningful to you now.
  7. I got the impression that the hygiene standards for these kinds of tattoos were really not up to Western standards. Like forget about getting a fresh needle, you'll be lucky to have it wiped down with alcohol between tattoos. That skeeves me the fuck out, and I personally wouldn't get tattooed like that. The tragic death of Greg Irons tells us as much as we need to know about the supposed protective qualities of the tattoos.
  8. @HaydenRose getting a dog, especially a rescue dog, is one of the best things you can do. I hope that when you do it you post lots of pictures of it.
  9. I can only assume that they have either that or the Revisited book. It's a cool book, but not nearly cool enough to spend that kind of money on it.
  10. There's at least one example of this in Flash From The Past too. It's on a sheet from the 1920s from an unknown artist. It's on page 63 of the book if you (or somebody at The Pearl) has it. There are plenty of other lady heads with butterfly wings in the book, but that's the only one I found in profile from a quick glance through of the book.
  11. I should know better than to reply to a thread started and then fuelled by a couple of clown-ass trolls, but you all rule and have brought a lot of great discussion to this thread. All I have to add to the discussion is that I think LST's slogan of GET GOOD TATTOOS is a great one and part of taking that seriously means using this forum to empower people, regardless of their body or body image, to seek out and get good tattoos that excite them and make them happy. There's no room here for body-shaming and making people feel that they somehow don't deserve a nice tattoo unless their body fits a pre-established mode of beauty. Go fuck yourself if you disagree.
  12. Welcome to LST!
  13. I only have one arm ditch done and it really sucked to heal, I'll agree. But lower legs are so slow to heal so the sucking lasts longer. I bet knee ditch is the fucking worst. But I'm an idiot so I'll do those eventually.
  14. I learned how to shuck oysters last night. It's actually really fun to do, and oysters are delicious so I see a lot of oysters in my future.
  15. I thought I'd also mention, especially since I just got my lower leg tattooed, that lower leg tattoos just plain suck to heal.
  16. I curse spending all my damned money on tattoos so that I can't spend it on travelling to see exhibitions on tattoos.
  17. I finally got these up in our place. We're missing a few at this point that I hope to eventually add, and I just ordered the Horitomo tenugui from the Perseverence exhibition so I'll have to figure out how to best hang that. I tried using the mounting tape but I guess the one I bought wasn't strong enough so one of the pictures fell from the wall and the frame smashed and it took until last weekend to get a new one and bring out the hammer, nails, measuring tape, and a level to properly put these up. I think they look great.
  18. The preferred LST terminology for this kind of coverage is SQUIDPANTS.
  19. I think if you do that it's called making a good life decision.
  20. Welcome! If you're into travelling and getting tattooed, you've found the right place!
  21. Great tattoo and congratulations! How was it?
  22. Just a word of advice: if you're going to come here asking for help, it probably isn't advisable to come across as a total knuckle dragger like you did in this thread even before you ask your question.
  23. Seriously. Eilin has so many tattoos that are just flat-out amazing, and this new one is no exception.
