  1. Come to think of it i have seen Jack Rudy do this with initials or his shop .Chuey Quintanar sometimes slips in a reference to Good Time Charlies Tattooland
  2. I nicked your idea MsRad then got in first with the time difference. I see your post on music festivals have you ever been to Glastonberry ?It's our answer to Woodstock .
  3. I have only seen this in large scale Japanese work, particulary on full back-pieces and most usually in the top left or right corner of the back. It's allways in kanji and also the artists bestowed tittle hori...... If you check out back pictures from Horiyoshi III, Chris Trevino ,Horitomo it's more apparent
  4. Sexy Beast great English movie ,So this is England -about british skinheads,no country for old men ,wild at heart ,angel-heart,king of new york, carlito's way,bad leiutenant, cape fear,fight-club ,into the wild, usual suspects, the wild one...Brando rocks
  5. Team work bro thanks for getting my back-links ;i'm a computer chimp
  6. Hey Maxx i'm pretty much in the same boat as you and an avid bookworm.First stop check the book review section of this site Bob Roberts is certainly a key player and a living legend, and the Hanky Panky book a great reference that will point the path to more artists .I my self can recommend Sailor Jerry Collins American Tattoo Master as an entertaining introduction that is also inexpensive. If Irezumi is your thing Bushido ,or Tattoos of the Floating world by Horitaka are excellent starting points.Bookmistriss is a really great site for more in depth stuff particulary in the traditional vein .It's mentioned elsewhere on this site i think under C.W. Eldridge-Kyle
  7. public enemy done in their trademark style i think Mike Giant has one
  8. whole chest pieces -traditional eagles and stars and stripes even though i'm from blighty .Also hybrid creatures (winged panthers ,winged serpents )
  9. Almost certainly u have Tendonitis in the wrist and-or rotator cuff of the same shoulder. This is an over use injury that is common in typists, tennis players etc that use specific muscle groups for long sessions without sufficient rest. This results in inflammation of the area -therefore reducing the sodium intake in the diet will reduce fluid retention diet is not really the solution .Best treatment is firstly to ICE the area whenever this is possible but particulary after use as many times a day as you can at first.Secondary take a non-perscription anti-immflamatory such as good old aspirin this will increase bloodflow to the area and reduce swelling.Next REST enjoy your holiday it's perfect timing .When u can u should rest your tattooing arm in particular try and keep it ellevated as much as practical if u ever see elite athletes they almost always have their legs ellevated -this is to flush the legs for recovery. Here's a good site iTendonitis.com .Once the pain is better you can begin some strengthening exercises .
  10. I Like Mr Sylvias traditional for really timeless and cool and Maneko aka Neto from Brazil script-wise

    Hail

Hail a new year -One thing with your training is say u do deadlifts for example ,never repeat that bodypart ie back the next day or deadlift for that matter.U ONLY MAKE GAINS WITH PROPER REST AND RECOVERY IT,S AS IMPORTANT AS YOUR TRAINING.Yes staying in shape and getting stronger go hand in hand as your metabolism quickly adusts. Pavel is right about bodybuilders generally although i know a few who can toss around that 500 lb bench he mentions ! love "climber has the legs of a flying squirrel, popeye forearms and legs of a starved chicken "

    Hail

That Martin Rooney article is the business ,real good truthfull advice .I got started berfore the time when people thought weight-training made you musclebound lol, people thought it was for weirdos and down right didn't work.Their was no information available save for muscle magazines published as propaganda to sell certain supplements made by the magazine owner ,most people learned either through trial and error or gave up. Stict with simple basic routines but train hard and with intensity as he says "It's like sushi; You go to Japan and sushi is beautiful simplicity, fish and rice .And it's incredible". Im not so sold on the kettlebell guy i see them as more of a cardio workout or circuit type training as Martin Rooney states these are "effective tools but they should be used accordingly"Stick with the warrior training exercises and sprints to build explosive power speed and conditioning.

    Hail

Hey mate, fair play to you first of all for looking out for your mum ,my wife has been my carer for the last 10 years so i understand the incredible sacrifice and compassion u have displayed. I have some artistic ability and great desire to learn to tattoo but i applaud your frankness regarding your own aspirations as it must seem a fashionable career of choice of late. It's a shame your health impedes you adorning yourself with more art but obviously your passion for tattoo appreciation is in no way dimmed maybe you will find it intensified. If I had better health and or cashflow i would need at least 5 backpieces or backs for that matter by now -and i'm only just getting started .Consider your situation a bit like window shopping which can also be fun and ever evolving . More power to you in your fitness endeavours ,the kettlebells at least present a whole new world of body modification to u .If you fancy a chat about training i'm a former personal trainer with over 20 years in the fitness industry and although i can't train so much anymore i would love to help you.So try to not too discouraged because my situation led me here ...
  14. Hey Dari, Thanks for the welcome to the family ,i'm originally from New Zealand so the notion of an extended family is something very dear to my heart.I went to the London convention in September which was amazing and also my first ,i was so glad to be able to go as me and my wife had given up on pre-planned events as most times the tickets go wasted cause of my health .Wishing you and your family a great Christmas . Kyle

  18. Hi from London ,i'm a recent new comer to tattooing although regretfully i do have a tribal band on my shoulder like the wrestler Goldberg laugh able i know. However that was 10 years ago and with some intense years in the Australian sun has gone grey along with my hair.Worse still most of those years i have been bed-ridden with a disease called Fibromyligia or chronic fatigue .Anyway even i managed in that time to become familiar with the internet particulary tattoo artist profiles, shops, etc which has re-ignited my interest in life and art something i thought was buried beneath my dark cloud of numbness and depression. So basically thankyou to you all for your community is packed with intelligent and creative people with barely a burly biker or red-light in sight. ps i began i guess like a lot of people mainly interested in irezumi and although i have a fair knowledge of the subject tend to favour traditional style typified by Bert Krak ,the boys at Black-heart and Jeff Zuck -Cheers Kyle:cool:
  19. This is my first post so let me say a big thank-you and hi .I'm relatively new to seious tattooing but can't believe the amazing world that has already opened up for me via appreciation of the artists craft.I have been sick-bedridden on and off now for 10 years suffering from a disease called fibromylagia also known as cronic fatigue obviously in that time i have slowly dicovered the internet specifically tattoo sites.Let me firstly commend the community for the intelligence and generousity of material available to both view and read and the respect given to both artist and fan alike.Stereotypes die hard but the tattooing cliche i'm sure everyones aware of couldn't be further from the truth but i guess it keeps some away which probably doesn't hurt.Any way inspired by the work i've seen my depression has turned to inspiration and i've started drawing again specifically traditional syle although i have also a good understanding of irezumi & expensive reference material LOL.Any way sorry for waffling on but all my research has been on my own so i'm sounding off on you guys-sorry .i particularly like Bert Krak ,Scott Sylvia and the blackheart team and Jeff Zuck .Cheers Kyle
