August 2012 Best Tattoo of the Month Contest
rozone replied to Lochlan's topic in LST Announcements & Contests
I just had this one put on by Eli Quinters at Smith Street last week, so it's still pretty fresh. Sorry about the bad phone photo. -

100%. With a 2x12 you can blow the faces off of the audience in clubs, and any larger venues you should be mic'ing your cabs anyway so a 2x12 is more than enough. Any bigger of a rig and you need to be/hire a professional bodybuilder to carry your gear around... Not for me. - - - Updated - - - Also, I really like that this thread exists.

I just got a pretty sweet black & grey skull and roses tattoo from Eli Quinters last week. The roses are super killer. I'll post a picture when it's fully healed.

Art tattoo show montreal 2012
rozone replied to rozone's topic in LST Get Togethers & Tattoo Conventions
Yeah. To say that I feel unbelievably fortunate would be an understatement. I'm definitely really excited about the whole weekend and overall experience. That's awesome that you had such a great time at it last year, @Pugilist. I think it would be neat to potentially do an LST get-together if there's a big crew planning on heading down. Either way, I think the convention is going to be a really good time. -
Is anyone else planning on heading to the 2012 Art Tattoo Show Montreal from Friday, September 7th - Sunday, September 9th? It's going to be my first convention ever and I'm super excited for it because I just confirmed an appointment with Mike Rubendall and I'll also hopefully be getting tattooed by Chad Koeplinger as well (as per his policy, I sent him a PayPal deposit and answered all of his questions listed in his auto-reply so I'm just waiting to hear back from him a week or so before the convention to confirm it all 100%). Do any of you guys have any appointments lined up?

Advice for someone who is terrified of needles
rozone replied to Natveggie45's topic in Tattoo Advice
If you can't sit through 20 minutes of getting tattooed, you probably don't deserve to get tattooed. In my opinion, it's a good thing they hurt because it keeps people who shouldn't have them away... -

You sure as hell can't trust them with a pack of Marlboros. ;)

I'm traveling to New York to get tattooed this Saturday by Eli Quinters at Smith Street, then I have my first session for my right arm sleeve the first week of September with Hugues Lauzier at Imago, and it looks like I'll be getting a piece from Chad Koeplinger at the Montreal Tattoo Art Expo the 2nd weekend of September (fingers crossed!). Needless to say, I'm incredibly excited/impatient.

I find this thread super interesting. To be honest, I'm kind of shocked at how some significant others take such strong offense to their partners getting tattooed. I've always thought of it as such a personal thing that I've never really considered how others would react from a relationship standpoint, which I guess shows my naivety. To be fair, I'm currently a single guy, but I've been getting visible tattoos for about 5 years now and I've never noticed a difference in the way that women react to me or in the type that are drawn to me. The way I see it is that a person's tattoos are kind of representative of their personality and the type of person they are. If they're an awesome person, their tattoos are probably awesome. If they're a shitty person, their tattoos probably reflect that. That's not to say that all awesome people have tattoos, but in my experience most awesome people who choose to get tattooed are pretty switched on and tend to know what makes a for a good tattoo and do the proper legwork beforehand. Regardless, whether or not someone has tattoos or not has never crossed my mind at all when it comes to judging people or finding potential mates. My opinion is that everyone who wants to get tattooed should, but not everyone should be tattooed. Just my .02 based on my virtually nonexistent experience on this topic. :)

Ummm... Have you guys seen this?

The move from upper arm tattoos to a full sleeve..
rozone replied to lving4today's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
I say, be punk rock about it. Don't let the "man" hold you down. If someone is going to deny me a job because of how I've decided to decorate my skin, then that's not a person I wanna work for. Getting visible tattoos is a lifestyle decision, so doing it means you truly need to commit to it and be aware of all of the consequences of those actions. I'm not saying don't do it. I'm saying that if you do it, do it for you, know what it means, and know the doors it will close (and open) for you. -

The move from upper arm tattoos to a full sleeve..
rozone replied to lving4today's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
My thoughts are, if you're hesitant at all you should probably wait. If you're at a point where you have no qualms at all about getting your arms finished, that's when you know you're ready to get them done. -
Oh man... Filip Leu is so crazy talented. Consistently.

I'm also heading from Montreal to New York in a couple weeks to get tattooed by Eli Quinters at Smith Street. It's not crazy far, but I'm still really excited about it.

I drove all the way from Toronto, Canada to Oakland and back to get tattooed by Freddy Corbin at Temple.

For sure. I spent most of my life in Toronto, but decided to make the move here because it's a lot smaller and more in tune with the type of stuff I'm doing. Thanks for the welcome!

I, personally, get super antsy and impatient when it comes to waiting to get large, multi-sitting pieces done, but I feel as though that's part of earning big work. That struggle and frustration makes it all the more satisfying in the end and, for me, provides a great lesson in humility.

2011 Montreal Tattoo Convention
rozone replied to Lochlan's topic in LST Get Togethers & Tattoo Conventions
Anyone planning on attending the 2012 show this year? I've never been to any conventions before, so I really look forward to checking it out and hopefully getting tattooed by some great out of town artists.
