  1. My artist told me he's open to a client bringing the design they want. I've done it with both of mine so far, but I've also been open to them putting their personality into it. Both times it's been better than expected.
  2. I appreciate you took the time to read the article and give feedback. To be clear I'm not trying to teach anybody anything, I shared an article I enjoyed about a new passion. (for me) Part of understanding anything is going through it, and sometimes it's the hardway sifting through the bullshit. But one thing I've learned is listen to those who've been there whether it's about sailing, plumbing or tattoos. And there seems to be a fair amount of experience in this forum. Interesting. I do think the pain aspect is going to be unique for all individuals and that this article was speaking in very broad terms. For example you said the back of your leg didn't hurt and mine felt like an electric shock. The information on colors and placement was interesting. I've seen some old tattoos and couldn't read them and other's that were definitely aged but still looked good. Which could very much be attributed to the artist and the individuals lifestyle. I'm still going with my original plan and getting what I want, where I want.

  4. I'd be interested to hear what some of the experienced tattoo artists and those wearing them think. https://www.savedtattoo.com/tattoo-colors/
  5. Got it, I have nothing to sell. I read an article about color longevity and areas of the body that wear better for tattoos. Being new to tattooing I found it very interesting. Newbies like myself might enjoy it, too.
  6. Is it okay to share articles about tattoos on this site?
  7. The cross on the sword was one of the first things that I noticed. Good stuff.
  8. Came out nice, that's some clean lettering.
  9. I just recently (5 days ago) got my second tattoo, a band around my calf. When it was being colored in, the artist started on the back of my leg. Immediately it hurt, but I knew there was no turning back. When he was finished I walked out of there with my leg sore and blood oozing under the tape. And I thought, "dang, can't wait to do that again" I'm already planning my next tattoo.
  10. I think your artist did a good job,it looks like Bulbasaur and if you hadn't pointed out the outline I wouldn't have noticed. I might ask your artist to make the body spots darker to look more like the original and for more contrast.
  11. Thanks. After living with it for a few weeks those areas don't bother me anymore. The advice I received here and looking at loads of tattoos helped.
  12. I just had my second tattoo, a band around my calf. I knew the shin was going to be sensitive, but was surprised how much the back of my leg hurt. It felt like he was putting the needle into a nerve, and felt almost like an electrical shock. I was worried I was going to jerk my leg, I really had to concentrate to keep still. I thought about getting high before hand. Didn't think about a beer, lol.
  13. After reading through these threads, and looking at tons of pics I feel better about my piece. Looking at the big picture and not scrutinizing it is the way to go. Thanks for input. This is a great site for knowledgeable advice, I've already started planning my next one.
  14. I've been wanting this for years and as it's my first, my expectations were probably not realistic. But I still love it and really liked the artist, too. I appreciate your insight and candor.
  15. Around the left anchor the sharpness of the original lines seems to have blurred.
  16. I'm 59 and 6 weeks ago I got my first tattoo. I love it but there are a couple of blowouts, that while not horrible they're still there. Is it because of my age or the artists skill level? There are several more I want to get, however if all my tattoos are going to blowout because of my age I'll need to rethink that.
