  1. I've noticed a few other artists are doing Monmon Cats to the point where it's become a "thing." Not ripoff artists but some reputable tattooers like Adam Kitamoto. Suppose you can't fault someone who wants one but lives in Australia. And I imagine it's not hurting Horitomo's business at all. But I wonder: does anyone take issue with this? In my mind emulating a style is okay as is using an image from a book. It only feels wrong to me if someone is tracing/copying a tattoo on someone else's body.
  2. Just looked her up and that's my least favorite tattoo of hers.
  3. Nope, you'll just have to search the Perseverance thread for the word "butts."
  4. Don't miss the vast number of LST butts in there. The exhibition's great too -- but very far from NZ!
  5. Don't hate on the Osmonds. Crazy Horses is metal as f*ck. "
  6. Twice now I couldn't go swimming while my arm heals -- I know: boo f*ckin hoo. Got called a "party pooper" by a six-year-old at yesterday's pool party (and deserved it). I thought tattoos were supposed to make you look cool -- not like a dork sitting there in your long-sleeved shirt while everybody else has fun in the sun.
  7. It's a beautiful book.
  8. Ah -- you guys beat me to the punch but this is from the Perseverance book. But saying "fat black wind bars with scalloped edges" will suffice I think.
  9. Fifth one down was featured in Tattoo Nation.
  10. Love it. I'll be just as old but 10 times more badass.
  11. Really looking forward to those cold metal clamps pinning me down to the table though it might be worth it for a full backpiece in less than one hour or it's free.
  12. Funny how bad breath was more acceptable than either one. At least I brush my teeth every day.
  13. So the Tegaderm experiment was inconclusive at best. Kind of a pain in the ass to put on -- though I bet I could do it perfectly now it being my first time and all. My plan was to set it and forget it while we went camping this weekend. Didn't quite work out that way. Plenty of seepage and weepage that first night. By the second my shoulder really hurt where he had packed in a lot of black and I started to get paranoid that it was getting infected. Morning of the third day I stripped it off in the shower and that was no fun. In all I don't think it hurt my tattoo but it certainly didn't help. My overall impression is that it put it into arrested development and didn't really start healing until I took it off. Might just stick to aquafor the next time around.
  14. Anyone have experience washing tattoo ink out of clothes? I've had some leakage.
  15. In my unprofessional opinion the tattoo you're describing would take 5-7 sessions so I'm not sure how he's gonna bang that out in one but I'd be very curious to see it. But yeah tattoos are not to be rushed -- even if you're traveling some distance.
  16. Lots of big names out there but the future superstars have to come from somewhere right?
  17. Agreed. Maybe my last post sounded a bit snooty. I myself don't own a suit that didn't come from a thrift store cos I don't have a job that requires it. I guess my point is that for the vast majority of people -- except for the super-rich -- most things are "good enough." I've chosen to spend my money on tattoos. Other dudes might put theirs into fixing up bitchin' old cars or going to the best restaurants in the world or whatever. Not my bag but I get it. Anyway I have no doubt that 3D printers for tattoos are on their way -- just like they can put photographs on top of cakes now, but I doubt it will put too many tattooers out of business. Those machines are going to be ridiculously expensive and probably kind of buggy at least at first. Robotic surgery will come way sooner I think if it hasn't already.
  18. 2nd sesh with Seth Wood on my dragon 3/4 sleeve. Knocked out about half the background today, which he first drew on by hand with a Sharpie. Prob won't post any pics until there's a little more progress tho.
  19. I try not to judge people on the way they look including tattoos, but we're all guilty of this to some extent because we're only human. But "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all" is a pretty good rule to follow, and saying shit behind people's backs isn't very nice either but I'm sure I've done that too.
  20. Is a handmade pair of leather brogues crafted by a master cobbler nicer than a cheap pair of Payless PVC loafers? Is a bespoke made-to-measure suit better than an off-the-rack 3/$99 polyester deal at Joseph A. Bank? Yes and yes. Yet both are "shoes" and a "suit." That's not being elitist -- just a fact.
  21. You're a trailblazer. Most of the negative comments about tattoos I see are on Facebook cos no one's brave enough to say that sh*t to my face.
  22. I'm also guessing there are some pretty rad chicks out there with skulls and daggers and panthers on their arms who just happen to have kids that play soccer -- jus' sayin'.
  23. @TrixieFaux & I are going camping like two days after I get my sleeve worked on by Seth Wood and I was thinking about trying this out so I can put it on and forget it. Has anybody actually used this to wrap a whole arm? Should I get a roll or individual strips -- and how is the mobility with it on? Like would I be able to put it on the elbow or no? Is there a preference between any of these brands? Looks like Saniderm is made especially for tattoos, which actually makes me more skeptical of it 'cause all that stuff kinda seems like snake oil to me...
