  1. I didn't have too much trouble up near the armpit, I really expected to, and kinda psyched myself out a little going into it, but really didn't think it was terrible. I'm not heavily tattooed (elbow up mostly covered and a big piece on my thigh), but so far the thigh was by far the worst, really not looking forward to getting my legs tattooed again. I don't understand how people get the backs of their thighs done. Then again, I've yet to even touch the torso, so I'm sure that will be fun.
  2. You say your chest is lighter because it isn't exposed to as much sun? I suggest lathering on sunscreen everyday. See if that helps your arms lighten up a bit after a few months. I wear sunscreen everyday if I'm going to be in the sun longer than 15 minutes or so, particularly now that I have tattoos. Also, I agree that big bold thick outlined designs would probably work best, and those can be done in black and look just as good as if they were done with color.
  3. One thing I love about still being in school is the ability to request pretty much any book through the library, thanks to this thread my school will be buying Bodies of Subversion and checking it out to me in a week or so, and because I'm a graduate student I can keep them for months at a time.
  4. I guess I'll go first, but I already have a feeling that I'll be going up against some really tough competition this month. Nick Colella formerly of Chicago Tattoo Co., currently going rogue until he makes an announcement about whatever he has in the works:
  5. It's funny reading this now after having seen how awesome that tiger turned out. As far as colors go, all the tattoos on my arm right now follow the general pattern in order of proportion: black, red, yellow , and then maybe one or two extra colors. I like the consistency personally, but then again, I think these are the "standard" tattoo colors, where as orange maybe stands out a bit more.
  6. Thanks! They both turned out even better than I thought they would. Now I just have to figure out the what, when, where, and how for my next. Hopefully there won't be a 9 month period in between tattoos this time.
  7. There really have been some amazing stuff posted lately, but that's no surprise coming from this board.
  8. Finally got some new stuff. Nick C Mario Desa Sorry about the size, I have no idea how to fix it though.
  9. Oh yeah, Lee Hanna, but that link was for the web page of Mando Rascon, who I think is still tattooing. - - - Updated - - - @Our Endless Days shouldn't mind, but wouldn't hurt to shoot him a PM.
  10. Whoa, who died? That list is only a year or two old and the blog is run by a poster here. But yeah, everyone on that list should be at least a respectable tattoo artist who does traditional tattoos.
  11. Just go ahead and add all of these: North American Tattooers | Our Endless Days
  12. Tim Beck @ Freedom Ink (Peoria, IL) Brad Fink @ Iron Age (St. Louis, MO) - - - Updated - - - If you count Colorado, Andy Canino @ Think Tank (Denver, CO), also, Lifetime Tattoo in Denver has some good artists.
  13. Any of them will be awesome, but his panthers are really awesome. However, if you're just doing chest (and not the entire torso), I think the eagle/snake would be best. Or Eagle/snake/dragon.
  14. Ahhh, yeah, I remember that guy.
  15. No, I can't remember exactly what they were, it's been a while, but I do remember they were really poorly done. It was especially upsetting knowing he lived less than an hour from NYC.
  16. I haven't been tattooed there, but I suggest Oak City based on some work a friend of mine has from there. But as others have said, Asheville is a few hours away and home to Hot Stuff and apparently Myke Chambers also tattoos somewhere in Asheville when he isn't traveling or in Philly.
  17. Her waiting list is 2 years?! Holy shit. She's so talented though, and part 1 was great.
  18. I don't have a backpiece, but I've always thought how shitty it would be to heal. But I think it was someone on theb9, calamity spills maybe (with the Chad K American-indian skull/headdress backpiece), who said you can reach pretty much every part of your back yourself if you use the backs of your hands to apply the lotion in the spots you can't reach with your palms. So I guess it's that, or get a girlfriend/boyfriend.
