  1. @JAllen yes! I do have that, it's really good! I wish they would make more music.
  2. Ill echo this. If you're going the koi/dragon route I would stay away from your existing B&G tattoo and do it in the other arm.
  3. I assumed as much from your IG *stalker alert* As for me, I love good writing and film. Nothing inspires me more than a thought provoking-emotionally wrenching sentence in a book or scene in a movie/TV show.
  4. I think that is an awesome gift! I've heard of people giving paintings and other art related gifts. I've considered baking something for the shop I frequent just to show my gratitude, but I always worry it won't go over well since I know a lot of the artists are vegan.
  5. I'm allergic to about everything under the sun and have had no reactions to red ink, if that helps :)
  6. Goes to show how observant I am... lmao
  7. This is going to make it much easier on the mods to find the winner for the monthly contests. I approve! Can't wait to mess around with it.
  8. I think we should turn this thread into people posting full body shots... reading how every one's tattoos are laid out is making my brain hurt. Picture books! Picture books! (sorry it's pre-noon, and I'm bored and delirious at work)
  9. I have a tattoo on my ribs that is about 5-6 years old. Whenever I go swimming, etc. in the summer I have always put 50+ SPF on it. It still looks like it did after it completely healed the first year, not even exaggerating. So yeah, moral of the story: use sunscreen... forever.

    Yoga

That's what is so great about yoga, is that it is a workout, an experience with your self and spirit, and meditation all at the same time. All of the practices I've done end with savasana (hope I spelled that right) for about 2-5 minutes of blissful relaxation and breathing. Meditating is so much stronger and more focused after a yoga practice, I love it!
  11. Usually the vanitas paintings with flowers were a commentary on the fleeting nature of life, same as a skull being a memento mori. Flowers die, food spoils, etc. and usually the flower paintings included flowers in the bouquet that were toxic to each other or if you look closely some flowers are halfway wilted. (Art History major in college)

    Yoga

I know what you mean about your leg "catching" is it like where your hip connects to your leg? My right leg does it when I do leg lifts in yoga and actually was super painful and stuck the last time I got tattooed. As for DVDs, I frequent yogajournal.com. I've done their 21 day fitness challenge which has a lot of ashtanga and faster paced practice. Right now I'm doing the regular 21 day challenge at intermediate and it has a wide range of styles and intensities. I think both of those you can buy as DVDs, but I'm cheap, so I just store the videos in my email. @Delicious, check this video out. The great thing about yoga is size doesn't matter! And you can start out just doing 10-15 minutes a day and work your way up.
  13. Hahaha I can't believe people do that! My fiance does...bleeuggh (reason why we have separate soap bars). I've always wiped my hand then whatever I need to wash.

    Yoga

This thread may die a quick, boring death, but I thought I'd give it a try... I have been practicing yoga on and off for about a year or so now. When I was younger I gave it a try, but it never stuck. From a young age for about 10 or so years I studied ballet and other forms of dance, but eventually lost interest not by choice, but from going to college, moving a lot, being poor, getting out of shape, etc. So about a year ago, frustrated with all of my attempts at fitness (walking, running, gyms, kickboxing, etc.) I decided to revisit yoga and WOW did I fall in love. I was amazed with the benefits I felt instantly and also how applicable my history of dance was. Since then, I've been practising at home off and on (mainly breaking for tattoos) and really working on bringing it into my every day life. Yoga is so vast, and extends way beyond the asanas, so its been a big life changer for me as I immerse myself in it. A possible goal for me is to *maybe* get to a point where I can study to be a yoga teacher and incorporate it into my counseling practice with youth. I have met a few tattooed people who are instructors and enthusiasts. So there must be some involved in LST's growing community. I'm not sure what sort of thread this will or will not turn into, but perhaps it can be a place to share our experience and practice of yoga, share tips and resources for yoga, and refer fellow yogis to studios and teachers nearby.
  15. I think letting it do its own thing as long as possible is great, but for me with dry healing I could see that it was cracking (sometimes very subtly) and it was the same as if I picked a scab real quick. So I'm soooo glad I found a lotion that doesn't irritate the tattoo because it keeps it moisturized just enough to avoid any cracking, but not so moisturized that it can't breathe and heal. Trust me, I'm a huge proponent of letting the body take control and not using anything. For ex: I refuse to take pain meds for my constant migraines, my fiance thinks I'm crazy but NSAIDs and shit give you ulcers and can give you more headaches on the rebound! So even though I use lotion, I use it only in the morning after showering and that's it. I keep it clean and open to the air, so I don't see any need to scrub it with soap more than once a day.
  16. I have finally perfected my method. Leave the bandage on overnight. Wash ASAP with un scented dove white soap. Let it dry out the first day. No touching or washing, just let it relax. If its settled down and gets dry I start using LUBRIDERM (why did I never try this magical lotion before?!?!) the second day. Then basically wash and lotion once a day, letting it dry at least 1 hour after washing before putting lotion on. Twice if it gets crazy, scary dry and cracking. I tried dry healing but it cracked too much and pulled ink out. I was frustrated because I have never found a lotion that agreed with me, but Lubriderm is incredible. It's like putting nothing on it and I don't feel like I'm smothering my tattoo with a pea size amount of lotion lol. This is my first tattoo where (so far) I haven't lost any color!!!! Yay!!!!
  17. Exactly, I think it falls under the same rules around minors. As for your earlier post about the guy raving on about guns and hospitals, I probably would not have tattooed him, but that's probably due to my knowledge of mental illness. It's possible he was manic or having some sort of episode and therefore, not in a proper state of mind (but not dangerous) to make healthy choices for himself (sporadic tattoos being an poor choice IMO).
  18. I've been digging some new (to me) women tattooers as of late... Guen Douglas Annie Frenzel Jasmine Wright Emily Rose Murray Kim Ahn Nguyen Alix Ge Mark me a feminist, but I love getting tattooed by women being one myself. :)
  19. Another reason I feel for the people who sign up to get tattooed on this show *shudder* On another note, while Best Ink is pretty horrible too, the judges tear all the contestants new assholes every episode because all of their tattoos consistently suck and the judges know it. That at least makes the show interesting to watch. And some of the contestants are decent artists (usually 1 or 2 which spoils who is going to make it to the end)
  20. I had a similar experience where I answered the door wearing a dress and my neighbor was like "I never thought a conservative woman like yourself would have tattoos." I responded with "what makes you think I'm conservative? And why can't classy ladies get tattooed?" He has a hard time answering considering you shouldn't judge people after only talking to them once or twice!
  21. I recently discovered Marius Meyer, he is incredible! And super versatile, but I love every thing he does.
  22. Congrats @Dennis! Those sleeves are definitely one of my favorites of LST, I actually saved your picture when you originally posted them in the Latest thread because they're just that awesome! :)
  23. Welcome! I'm not crazy about bio-mech tattoos but yours are incredible!
  24. Welcome! And congrats on the impending family :)
  25. I always think carefully about where to place tattoos, but I pretty much take it one tattoo at a time. Except I know my right arm is going to be an assortment of tattoos where my left arm I'd like to do a more cohesive thing (I'm trying to avoid the word "sleeve"... Lol). With my thigh piece I just had done it would probably have balanced out my other tattoos better if I put it on my left leg, but for some reason I just felt it was *destined* to go on my right, like it was difficult to imagine it on the left. Very strange... I don't think worrying about placement or planning ahead is over thinking. Tattoos are permanent, so it matters a great deal where they go.
