  1. @iowagirl I think the reason no one gets "man-heads" is because women are more pleasing to the eye! (kidding ....kind of)
  2. Welcome! I second the part about Australia. I think that's the absolute first place on my list to travel for a tattoo. Do you have any pictures of your tattoos? Who are you getting tattooed by?
  3. Welcome! Do you have any tattoos? Pictures?
  4. Sorry if my post sounded hurtful. Not my intention at all. Ask and you shall receive? I wasn't describing your situation just thinking out loud. My real point was that your situation and tattooing seem like a big roadblock and maybe it's time to accept a tattoo may not be in the cards. Especially if this is the only one you intend on getting. And a lot of people on here (myself included) get "random inconsequential design"s so.... meaning isn't always everything.
  5. I also have sensitive skin, allergies, etc. and it's funny how all of those 'hypoallergenic' 'sensitive skin' wipes and products give me so much grief. Glad it's not just me! Also, just my personal opinion... it seems like the idea of getting a tattoo is having trouble crowding into your life of ballet. Sometimes tattoos aren't for some people and the idea of having one trumps the real need to get one. Not sure if that makes sense, but I see a lot of people nowadays thinking about getting one not because everyone else is doing it, but because they want to experience it. Whereas most people on here will tell you they feel differently about getting tattooed. It is a whole lifestyle and culture, not a notch on your walking stick of life. It sounds like you're a serious ballet dancer and that is very important to you. I would embrace that and soak it up. Getting a tattoo sounds like a hardship on many levels for you. Again, just my opinion.
  6. Not tattoos. You get what you pay for.
  7. Welcome to the dark side! :) I think my perspective has changed from gawking at heavily tattooed people to now seeing them as normal and people with one or two small tattoos as strange. Actually it was only recently I realized how I don't even give people with a lot of tattoos (hidden or visible) much thought whereas all the people I know with little or none see me as an anomaly. It is much better to be on the inside looking out, for sure.
  8. Very cool! I'm sure most of us NYers would be happy to get together! What shops are you thinking about stopping in along the way?
  9. @DJDeepFried great list! I'll forgive you for #4 because your #1 is ...Like Clockwork. :)
  10. Wow you just described me and everything I've been going through lately with hating my job and career goals lol My fiance asked me what my dream job would be if I could do anything and I said being a mom or working in a tattoo shop (not a tattooer though). I'm also a weirdo and applying to different master's programs (social work, education, and counseling). Life is more fun with variety!
  11. Ahaha my consult is in August and we don't start until September! Sooo far away... I had inquired about booking with him only a few weeks ago and he had availability in July, then by this weekend he booked through August. Everyone was probably cashing in gift certificates.
  12. Yesterday I got my leg touched up by Rose Hardy while she is in town and then spur of the moment booked with Grez this summer to fill out the rest of my arm. Excited doesn't even come close to how I feel right now :)
  13. Well since a lot of you have seen me on IG and in person, and not only do I look dashing in this picture (RARE!), but my arm and shoulder tattoos are visible... enjoy!
  14. Nice. I feel like I would have to be a part of this being a Vermonter and all, ha!

    Hello :)

Where are you located? Someone should be able to point you in the direction of a quality shop/artist.
  16. In the summer, Saved did a lot of walk-in Sundays with pre-drawn flash. I wish I made it to some of them. Some of the days were based around holidays like Mother's Day and others were design-based like Mandalas and Skulls. They never advertised the price, and I'm not even sure if they were shop minimum just that they were small one-shots.

Most of my college peers couldn't read my handwriting a few years ago. Yeah. I'm actually going back through the Spencerian Penmanship practice books and learning Copperplate. I'm so glad I grew up learning cursive when I did, it's saving me a lot of grief and frustration.
  18. Yay! I was right! Well I like albums FROM 2013 better because I'm always on the hunt for new music. I get too comfortable with my "oldies".

Haha that's true I suppose. My logic is there's nothing like an old book that has passed through many hands, like it has a story all of its own, but then that could be true in a total gross and perverse way...

I agree with everyone that printed books > e-books. However, in order to read stealthily at my desk job, I get e-books through amazon and read them on the cloud reader. I get to read for 4+ hours a day and my boss thinks I'm hard at work. Win-win situation. When I'm on vacation I always buy books in print, usually used copies through amazon for like a $1.
  21. Palms - Palms for sure. I feel like there's more but I can't think of them right now. That one just sticks out in my mind. - - - Updated - - - Oh shoot, is this new albums that came out in 2013 or just what we listened to? Sorry, I'm a confused mess most of the time.
  22. @Wedge, very nice. I've lived NYC adjacent for so many years now and have never seen the tree. Did you see Phantom? My step-mother-in-law has been playing violin for that show for some ridiculous amount of years.
  23. I have a black and grey tattoo on my arm and I plan on filling in the rest of my arm with color tattoos. Kind of the opposite of your situation. Basically, moral of the story: get the tattoo you want. Your artist will be able to make them look cohesive and not out of place next to each other.
  24. @ironchef already mentioned Wendy Pham, but she deserves extra. Her work is incredible, especially her prints. Out of this world good.
  25. @kimkong looks awesome. And outlines are tough (especially super bold ones like those), so nice job hanging in there.
