Obviously this is your choice, but if you ever decide to return to sobriety, it may be helpful to go to AA meetings. I know some people who have never had a problem with alcohol manifest, just drugs, but find the AA meetings more helpful. Also, it takes a while to find a meeting or group of people you click with. I don't know if these are the issues you are dealing with, but I know so many people drop out because they don't feel like they fit in with the ideals or people in the groups. But that's so far from the truth... When they say "it works if you work it" what that means to me is that you mold the program to your individual beliefs and needs. I have a friend who does not believe in God or anything like that, so instead replaces GOD with Group-of-Drunks and turns it over to his friends in the program. I don't want to sway you, just providing some literature in case you decide to give it another whack. You're always welcome to PM me, etc. It took my husband a good 4 years of going to the rooms and outpatient on and off again before it finally stuck. Were celebrating 7 months tomorrow. Every time you come back you're stronger.

That's good news for me and my laziness. I always wanted to go to Three Kings, but never feel like making the trek to Brooklyn.

@Colored Guy so sorry for your loss. I'm glad to hear everything went smoothly... Best wishes for the road ahead...

@G.Uristti we were looking recently, but already found a dog (see quite a few posts back). But I know when we were looking we really utilized social media sites like Facebook and Instagram. Is your friend using those sites? I'd be happy to share within my network.

@Mick Weder if you wrote a memoir, I would read it. Great stuff!

I will make a case for Yelp and tattoo shops being useful, because I actually visited Kings Ave in NYC the first time because of Yelp. In my naivete, I decided to start getting tattooed in NYC after moving closer to the city, so I took to Yelp to find the highest rated shop. Ignored the star ratings and instead read the reviews carefully, then checked out websites with portfolios. I was most impressed by Kings Ave and stumbled upon a few articles about Mike Rubendall in the process, so I decided to visit the shop and then make my final judgement. Never turned back after that--love the shop and everyone working there! Basically my whole point was that Yelp led me to my regular shop...I think I had enough sense to go in person, but nonetheless... Yelp can be helpful in some ways even when it comes to tattoo shops. And Kings Ave definitely has some shitty reviews. I love when they call the front desk guy a pretentious douchebag haha. Guess it takes one to know one?

@growltiger, I remember seeing that on instagram. Soooo good! It seems like Rodrigo's been doing a lot of peony sleeves lately and I love them, so if that's what you're leaning towards I don't think he will disappoint! Congrats on the tattoo and future tattoos!

@Euchlid great first tattoo! I think that's a great placement for them.

I can't take a thread titled "Facial Tattoos" seriously. Sorry guys...

Yeah, when I got tattooed by Scott we finished around 11:30pm and most of my appointments seem to trickle into the after hours for some reason. I remember that one so vividly because the lower half of Manhattan's trains to Jersey were still on a shortened schedule from Hurricane Sandy and I had to stand in the December cold on Bowery waiting for a ride for like ever... Now I try to book guest spots earlier because they always seem to get pushed back. Thankfully, all of my appts this year start at noon on Saturdays. It will be a refreshing change.

I think there are tattoo styles that stand the test of time. So many of us on here get traditional flash that someone also got decades ago. I think in the future traditional tattoos will still be around, just better executed. Nowadays traditional still exists, but as an enhanced version of the old stuff. I only see tattooing getting better... Fads, like chrome tattoos, come and go. I think watercolor tattoos are today's fad, but traditional will always hold true.

30 in 30 sounds like a breeze... Usually I hear 90 in 90. Some people swear by it. I think you just have to do whats best for you and constantly evaluate yourself and your needs, then adjust accordingly. - - - Updated - - - Also big news for me... I got accepted to an MSW program! Starting in the fall and so ready to hit the books again after a few years of mindlessly working. And my husband and I have been struggling with our opposing schedules and the new puppy has made it challenging to find alone time together, but last night we hung out in bed and chatted for a long time before falling asleep and I had so much fun just catching up and being silly. I haven't laughed that hard in years! It's a beautiful thing having a life partner. I highly recommend it! :) -
I feel like I've been seeing tons of peonies. But then again it could just be because I'm digging the design and hope to get some someday... And clearly monmon cats are all the rage.

And the simple answer to that is: the next right thing. If you stick around I'm sure you'll start picking up the lingo :) -
@belle2929 ALL tattoos fade, but white tattoos turn an icky yellow color. My advice: get it in black. Where are you located? Perhaps we can recommend shops/artists near you.

Great work. And looks like you've already completed the first step, so congrats! Although, I know some people will say you constantly are working on steps 1-3 throughout the program, but still, good on you! -
Just to clarify: You want a tattoo to surround your scar? Not cover it up? That changes things, because we could all easily say pick a type of tattoo you like and go to an artist you like, but trying to come up with a design to work WITH the scar is a little different. Have you considered letting the scar age and then covering it with a tattoo? If you want a great tattoo, then it will work in your favor to not be hasty.

That's a bummer it didn't work out! I liked your story of meeting during your travels. Best of luck to you on your future endeavors.

Does not compare to the aforementioned shitty things.... but my recent hell has been trying to get this stubborn puppy to go poop in the rain/thunderstorm. We are now approaching 3 hours post dinner and the most she has done is pee really quickly outside. Right now I'm suffering through her SBD farts while she sleeps on my lap... Damn dog.

This comedian was rocking these pants last night on Last Comic Standing. (Thought of this conversation) God, to be skinny again...

I guess I should have been more clear... by grooming I meant a haircut. I also think I tend to substitute a haircut for grooming since we've always done the other grooming ourselves (nails, bath, ears, etc.). Actually, when we had a Springer Spaniel we sometimes trimmed her hair ourselves.

@Dan never knew Aussie's had to be groomed... haha! My dad has an Aussie/Beagle mix and she has the Aussie colors, but not the heavy coat, so no grooming.
