I've been going to one shop (Kings Ave Tattoo) but getting tattooed by different people there. So far just guest artists, but I plan on getting almost all of my future tattoos there by their in-house artists. I have such a high level of trust with them. Every one there kills it and the shop houses a variety of styles if I ever wanted something else. Also, they are super nice and I know I can walk in there and be treated well and taken care of. I feel like getting tattooed by one person has its pros and cons, but I would rather expand my options. Also, I love the idea of "collecting" tattoos. I'm looking forward to when I'm really old and showing a tattoo and being like "got this from______ back in _____" and every one starts freaking out. Kind of like Dan S :)

I never take any one on the day of getting the tattoo, but since I have to travel into NYC from NJ he usually takes the train in with me then meets up with people, but if he had tattoos or was interested in getting them we could probably just go together.
-
I just moved to the NYC area and he moves... Sad! Time to save up for a trip to Texas I suppose!
-
I wish he would, but it doesn't seem like its in the cards for now :(

I had this thought too not too long ago. It is unfortunate that my tattoos are a big part of my life and I'm heavy into the whole subculture, and we can't share that together (we do to some extent). However, since he digs them, doesn't really matter. And I think he's enjoying learning more about different styles and images. It still would be cool to have tattoo adventures together. I'd love to have some one I could travel with and get all psyched about the trip with. I feel bad, but some times I feel weird bringing him into shops with me. I mean he's not a big fan anyway of being dragged along, but there isn't much for him to do and he always feels awkward :(
-
Why can't he get his forearms done? If he's working a conservative job, most likely he won't expose them anyway. I've never seen a lawyer wearing a tshirt... I think only the hands would be an issue. I also find I just can't wear white or you can see my tattoos through the shirt.

My boyfriend/fiance has no tattoos and no plans on getting them. Like your girlfriend, he has some stipulations, too. But will probably ignore them...oops. I really want to get my hands done and maybe my chest :/ Also, is it just me or are most relationships with one person tattooed and the other not, its always the man thats tattooed. I feel like were such an odd couple with me having a bunch and plans to get more heavily covered, and he has no plans or desires to get any. Thankfully, I don't mind at all, and neither does he!

@%1;, it seems like you are getting a lot of feedback for help with the project. I am currently in between jobs and a very speedy typer, if you're still looking. I'll send an email...- 79 replies

Aw I keep seeing all the photos on Instagram, wish I had time to make it out. Sounds like it was a good time! On a sidebar, John is definitely the best shop hand I've ever encountered. I can speak for tattooers, but as a customer he's very accommodating and kind!

Wait... (And yell at me mods if I'm getting too into prices) ... She estimates it will cost her $300 to get it covered? Is she going to a more pricier scratcher? She probably won't even be able to get the tattoo she originally wanted, but a larger one to cover it. Also she's sixteen and a working hairdresser?! This whole thing makes me think its fake to make a "good" story...

December 2012 Tattoo of the Month Contest
HaydenRose replied to Lochlan's topic in LST Announcements & Contests
Thank you everyone :) I wouldn't have gotten those amazing tattoos if it wasn't for Scott, this forum, and all if its wonderful members. And all of the other entries were just as worthy as mine, every month gets better and better. Again, thanks LST mods and all it's members. Looking forward to another year of amazing tattoos! -
My scott sylvia tattoo was an early christmas present, but also getting an iPad in the mail today! (Not much to open on christmas...) I just graduated college this week, so lots of gift cards and cash too. Hopefully picking up some nice clothes & stuff soon. Choosing your own presents is always ideal :)

I always have a dream that they disappeared during the healing process. Well, more like a nightmare :(!

My brother is an engineering major and was telling me about this. The possibilities are wild! Printing houses, cars, planes, you name it...

It's refreshing to hear that some one has this same experience! I cried after my first one, I wouldn't say it was sadness or happiness, just a mix of emotions and exhaustion and what not. It's hard to ignore the permanency of a tattoo and some times the idea is still slightly startling. With every one since I feel a little pang of "wow, what did I do to myself?" ---not that I don't regret it, it's just a strange feeling. Although, I think these emotions will become less and less the more tattoos I get (I have only 5 now). Once you're more covered, it's probably not such a big deal.

Is it bad that I laughed really hard during the slow motion part? Yeah... probably.
-
I also like backpieces that extend down only one cheek/thigh. It is especially befitting for a woman! Hmmm ideas, ideas...

Had to dig up this thread to post this amazingness. Tim Lehi (in progress):

Off topic, but this blog/article has the best line ever: "I don’t like stepping in dog shit but I wouldn’t go around demanding that all dogs have their assholes sewn shut."

Thanks! I am right handed, so that may be the case. The leaves are on my chest, so it may be that I have clothing straps rubbing on it and when I sleep it probably folds together in that spot. I was wondering if maybe its only the right rose because it was tattooed second and I had a lot more pain with that one. One the whole, my left rose is healing much faster and easier. Kind of strange.

Thanks every one. I've never had this happen before, so was a little freaked out. Glad to know it just needs time, I assumed as much.

Here I go, probably freaking out over some thing that just needs more healing time. My tattoo is now on its 5th day of healing, and doing really well! My left rose is almost completely peeled and hasn't been swollen or red for a few days. However, on the right rose, its mostly peeled but one leaf has this thick scab that developed around the 2nd day, but hasn't shown any signs of peeling or softening. Now there's also a scab/scar forming near the outline on the red part of the petal near it (you can see it in the picture). I've heard of people getting thick scabs that eventually fall off and pull all of the ink out, which would be a huge bummer. Has any one had a similar experience and how did it turn out for you? I'm going to stop putting lotion or aquaphor on that leaf for now and see if that helps. But its strange only part of the tattoo is reacting this way. (On a side note: my healing method is to leave the bandage on overnight, wash it good in the morning and let it dry out for about 24 hours, but washing it 3-5x that first day. Then I wash it about 3x a day and only apply a thin layer of aquaphor after it dries out completely after washing. Once it starts peeling, I continue washing it 3x a day and only put aveeno lotion on it after I wash it and dry it.)

Since he was updating the progress in real time, some one made a comment that the final pic was posted only like 4-5 hours after he put the stencil on. I could be wrong though. But I don't know how that guy could sit for 8-10 hours any way... yikes.

Yeah Hooper posted the progress on instagram. One stencil, one sitting, insane. I think it took him like 4-5 hours. I wonder if they're going to fill it in...
