  1. Personally, I love the rope. I think that's what makes this tattoo. The way it's hanging off of the anchor looks so natural but doesn't take away from the image, which gives you a nice detailed tattoo without feeling too busy.
  2. Ive been digging the new band/album Palms with Chino Moreno's godly voice. This band isn't really metal, but since its a collaboration with members of Isis, it's kind of relevant. I love metal music. I can't stand guttural growling and screaming. So I pretty much just enjoy bands like Deftones, Tool, etc. more recently discovered If These Trees Could Talk which has been blowing me away.
  3. My first bout with college I majored in photography for 2 years and had to do one year of drawing, painting, sculpture classes. There are a lot of great resources outside of the classroom as people have suggested, but I think the best route is to take some intensive studio classes at a college or wherever. I learned sooooooo much in that one year that I can draw the shit out of anything (not trying to brag... But just saying courses are the best way to go if you're serious). And you may get to see naked people which is always a good (awkward) time.
  4. I have a tattoo on my foot that has held up quite well and hasn't needed to be touched up at all. And I've been horrible about keeping it protected with sunscreen (which I would recommend using often after its healed, just because its such an exposed area in the warmer months). As for healing, it does take longer. Just make sure you ice it often the first week to take down the swelling just for your own sanity and keep it elevated. Mine took about 3-4 weeks to heal where my other tattoos only take 2 weeks.
  5. No problem. I'm still having trouble getting around today with a fresh tattoo (LST problems..) & money is tight, so I wasn't going to be able to make it out anyway. Hopefully next time works out better for every one.
  6. I agree. I don't think I've ever gotten to the point where I needed anything. And I would be afraid of any creams or anything else going on the tattoo. Last week I did 4 hours and it was fine because we finished the outline around 2.5/3 hours, so the rest felt like a relief. She did use something on me though because she thought I was in a lot of pain (really I'm just super restless and hate sitting or laying down for long periods of time). It was like a spray and started with a b. I don't remember what it was called. It still hurt but I didn't care as much. And since she said she uses it I was curious to try it. - - - Updated - - - This. I always tell people getting tattooed is nothing compared to the agony of the first week of healing. And no one ever warned me about the awful chills you get as the tattoo heals (and the stinging), that's my least favorite part.
  7. I think I've been on here a little over a year as well and it's really changed my life for the better, too. Now I know what good tattoos look like and who's who in the industry. I don't think I would ever have gotten tattooed by Scott if it wasn't for this forum. And it's been a damn pleasure to browse through here every day. I can't believe there is a space on the Internet that I check every day besides Facebook. You all rock.
  8. I'm hobbling around right now like a penguin... and I'm trying to dry heal this tattoo completely, but its so hard to resist the temptation to put some lotion on it. I must persevere! :/
  9. That's awesome. I've been admiring his posts in IG. He's definitely next on my list!
  10. This is tricky. I love all of the work I've gotten by the various artists, but I'm not sure I would stick with only one per se... If I had to choose I would have to say Grez, only because he is so versatile, clean, and a good dude. And I would hate to go anywhere but Kings Ave if I had to choose. A close second would be Seth Wood, but since I haven't gotten any work by him yet I would be hesitant in making that commitment. And like @CultExciter said, so glad I don't have to choose one! That would take the joy out of collecting tattoos for me, to be perfectly honest!
  11. I have to share my nightmare from the other night! It was awful! I always have the post tattoo nightmare that I wake up and the tattoo has vanished, but this one was a pre tattoo nightmare and was way worse! Basically, I went for my appointment with Rose Hardy and she showed me the design we talked about, went to do the piece, everything was fine... Then in one session she's done and I have two large pinup girls (but not sexy partially naked ones, more like ones dressed for winter in 1950s Russia... Weird). And the placement was strange... One on each inner leg from like mid thigh past my knee to about mid calf. So I was like, ummmm, what did you do to me??? And she was so nonchalant and like, oh I wanted to try these out and thought you wouldn't mind. And I just felt like an ass because I didn't speak up. And I told her I would t pay and she just laughed at me as she jumped on a plane back to New Zealand. I was so relieved when I woke up the next morning :) what a weird dream ahhhhh!
  12. Tattoos are permanent, which I'm sure you're aware, so the limits to changing an existing piece to your liking is difficult. My suggestion? Laser it. Take suggestions from members on this forum for quality artists near you that WILL care 200%+ about your tattoo. And basically start over. I know, I'm an asshole. Forgive me. Welcome to LST! :)

Same! Once I finish A Dance with Dragons I'm going to start reading every one's suggestions. I'm also saving up for Eleven Fourteen. I've only heard great things about it.
  14. I can't believe I spaced and never posted up my IG on here. It's haydenrosec. I mostly follow tattooers and like a ton of tattoos, but occasionally I offer glimpses into my mundane life :)
  15. Yes! I saw that this morning on IG and fell in love!
  16. I had my consult with Rose Hardy. We are going to go bigger and make it a nice sized leg piece. She's going to be back in the winter and eventually moving to NYC. I'm kind of excited to do a big piece and have a nice work in progress. It'll suck having to wait but make for a killer tattoo. And it works out great because I was planning on holding off after this summer and maybe getting some small one shot tattoos, but working on a big piece over time is going to be a cool new experience. And Grez is awesome like every one said. Every time I go to Kings Ave he always remembers me and wants to see how my tattoos have settled in and ask how my wedding planning is going haha. He is so committed to his clients, great dude.
  17. Agreed. I know Katie Sellergren has an awesome upper back piece that reads "Old English" (I think). It's on her Instagram from when Lehi was working on her back. I would hunt down the picture, but Im lazy :p But it looks real f'in cool.
  18. Good for you! I was writing a book, but my external hard drive got wiped so I lost everything. So I just gave up lol but ive been thinking of writing narratives of a song of I e and fire that weren't included but mentioned to get back in the swing of writing. You just inspired me to try again!

Same here, I'm about 1/4 of the way through it. Such a monster of a book.
  20. Bioshock is the only game I've played where I've had goosebumps just walking around in some places. Such an amazing game. As for ps4, I think they're going to have this cloud feature so you can play ps3 games through the cloud. All I know about the network is you won't have to be connected to the Internet to play, so its pointless to pay anyway.
  21. My fiancé won't stop talking about this game. I watched the beginning of it when he first got it and was blown away. It reminds me of a more action packed Heavy Rain. - - - Updated - - - I think ps4 is going to be backwards compatible... But don't take my word for it.
  22. Aw thanks! I probably won't participate since I already won... But I think I'm going with the wolf idea and seeing what we can do with it.
  23. Consult next Wednesday. Then two sessions July 16th & 30th.
