HAHAHA!!! a least i know now that i am not the only one!! i had a slew of hamsters growing up and they all had food names!! I was a kitten caregiver in college at the Toronto Humane Society. i had a really great time doing it. at first it seemed really daunting but as time passed it got easier and i got into a routine. the kittens were so sweet!!!

Ursula, your dog tattoo is amazingly beautiful! the Eli Quinters piece is awesome as well, i really love his work and hope that one day i can get something from him. dogs have so much personality and just by being themselves they bring so much joy to our lives and i got to say it really hit that spot when i saw your picture of the your dog stack! hahaha what does G.B. stand for if anything? the puppy is so precious, did you keep it or sell it? Agility is so much fun!!!! if you end up coming down town and have time for a coffee or cold drink id be happy to tell you all about it!

I got this idea from Shawns thread on his new "bundle of Joy" where he announced he was adopting this cute italian grey hound. i know im not the only one who loves talking about their pets so please share away. heres a little explaination of my pictures. DEPRESSING STOREY WARNING: the first one is of Joia (joy-a, this is the portugues slang word for treasure/jewels) she was my first portuguese water dog. i rescued her from a hell hole of a living situation. i got her at the age of 1 yr and she lived with me and my family until she passed 7 months later. unfortunately she was born very very sick and by the time we found out something was wrong it was too late. sorry for the sad storey but thats life!!! the 2nd and 3rd is of Avelan my current dog. we showed her within Canada and she got her championship with 4 weeks, we are so proud of her. now that shes sterealized we cant show her anymore so we've moved on to training in agility. its so much fun and shes got so much talent and ability!! lastly are some pictures of cross stitch pieces i did. i do this in my free time because it keeps my hands busy and i think its as close as im gonna get to art of any kind becasue i dont draw anymore.

This is a thread for our pets! most of us know that our pets can be very dear to us and it is not uncommon to see portrait tattoos of ones pet. i hope that people will open up and share stories, pictures and tattoos of their loved ones, past and present. i didnt know where this topic should end up, i was debating between where it is now and Random Crap but since it has to do with pet tattoos i figured its just as relavent here!

The way that i see it, it seems like a very challenging animal to draw because of the shape of the face and all the different definition and where the muscles are and so on. i havent seem much that has impressed me and im hoping that other LSTers can guide me in the right direction. Though having just said that, some of the stuff that has been on my mind has been work by Bailey H. Robinson. I think his work is pretty awesome. what also comes to mind is the picture of Amund Dietzel in "These old blue arms" he has a pretty amazing horse chest piece! i wish i could scan the image from my copy of the book but i dont want to upset anyone by doing so. its pretty cool, you should go buy the book!! :) also if i could find it i'll repost, but another member by the name of Nickypapers posted a picture of the tattoo he has on his stomach of three horses very similar to the Amund Dietzel tattoo.

thats sounds awesome and its really cool to see LST grow like it is! -
hey good question! this is something we havent talked about on here yet! yea ill back up what Ursula said, shes a smart lady :) i think i can weigh in on this as i too have the stretch mark issue. the first tattoo i got was on an area unaffected by stretch mark and while i was getting tattooed i asked the artist if you can tattoo over stretch marked skin and she said absolutely! the only thing is that as soon as the needle goes over that skin they swell and become puffy immediately! so i would say choose an artist that is confident in their line work and has done tattoos on stretchmarked skin. mine are old and there for are not red anymore, but i couldnt be happier with the end result because i cant see the old scars i just see a very pretty tattoo.

welcome to LST sam! that sounds so exciting! i hope you have an amazing time when you go on your trip and i look forward to see some pictures when you get your first tattoo.

i think that i WAS very close minded and i couldnt fully appreciate what the atrists were doing. i also started out looking at tattoos as most young girls do "(*valley girl voice*) it has to be on my wrist, facing me because its for me, and it has to be in white so only i can see it" type of mentallity.

my friend and i just watched a documentary on the really horrible shooting that happened in Las Cruces, NM in the bowling alley in the 90's. what a devestating and horrible thing that happened to those people. :(

wow!! i love part 1 and like everyone else i cant wait for the other ones to come out. its videos like this that continue to shape how i think about tattooing and really make me appreciate the people that work so hard at their craft. if you had shown me a piece of art from any of those guys back in september and asked if i would ever get that tattooed on me i'd probably have said hell no! i'll tell you now that it would be so awesome to get tattoo by any of those fine gentlemen! i feel personally that ive come very far in the way that i view tattoos!

i have greatly enjoyed reading about everyone in this thread! so here goes my mini bio. my name is Alanna C. Alves in 23 and i live in downtown Toronto Ontario by the lake! i'm a dessert chef for Live organic foods in Toronto fullfilling all their raw and vegan dessert needs. I make awesome wedding cakes from home on the side and slowly i get better and better! besides baking i also love cooking for my friends and family. i come from a very large Portuguese/ italian family and i was raised in the christain baptist church. i recently left church behind because i hated how judgemental the people around me where and i believe in a more progressive outlook on life. I have a portuguese water dog named Avelan (in portugese the word avela means hazelnut). In my spare time i train with avelan in agility, go to fitness bootcamp or just go running, babysit my friends two lovely boys ( i love taking care of kids, i just dont know if i want any of my own, is that weird?), walk and rollerblade.... a lot. im quiet and shy and i usually always have a smile on my face and i get really excited about the smallest things, hahaha. i started getting tattooed Aug 2010 and getting tattooed has helped me to loose more then 50lbs to date as i dont let myself get a new tattoo unless i've reached some personal goal, over the year ive come to so many new realizations and changed my thinking in so many ways and hopefully become a better person! i love this forum and the people on it have taught me so much! i could go on but i'll stop there!
