  1. Welcome. Yep. Gather knowledge and references. Learn how to spot what an artist can or can't do, and figure out from there which one(s) can nail your vision.
  2. +1 Cirque Du Rouge - Tattoos and Art on H Street, Washington DC
  3. I think you just did. :) - - - Updated - - - Spider Webb
  4. I'd be happy to have London Reese or Teresa Sharpe tattoo me, but they definitely are the exception to the rule on these shows. I stopped watching this season because there was absolutely no one I could root for.
  5. @irezumi I just set that creek/trees picture as my desktop background.
  6. David Glanz just came up with an opening for Friday night . . .
  7. "lines aren't consistent" = don't go back.

  9. Not that I'm unhappy with where I am heading, but if I was naked and starting out now, I'd go for a full suit a-la Hooper-Jondix-Sultana-Jacobsen-Kostechko-Forte-Roxx-Wells.
  10. In other words - If I'd have known in 1974 what I know now? That's sort of impossible to answer, because the style of tattoo I'd be gravitating towards today didn't even exist until just a few years ago . . .
  11. Yeah. The next thing you know they'll be pitting "artists" against each other, timing it and making them COMPETE!!! Hey, wait a minute . . . .
  12. For those of you who haven't seen it on Instagram yet - Steve Byrne:
  13. You're not offending anyone here. It is excellent that you've come to a place like this to learn how to not make a mistake in obtaining the artwork you want. Now, in order to clarify; "black and grey" is generally spoken of as "realism" - mostly like non-color photographs. There is also "blackwork" which is mostly just black (and a wide range of sub-styles therein). Slow down. Stick around and read posts for a couple of months. Drink in the pictures and the discussion on the board. Educate yourself to the process, the styles and the artwork. Wait and see what resonates with you. The journey is fun.
  14. Beppe's style is basically American Traditional - which would be perfect for your subject matter. What style do you prefer?
  15. If you absolutely can't travel further then Mario at Cimmeria seems to be the strongest (when he's using black outlining) of that group, but I would consider saving up some traveling cash and heading elsewhere. How big and where?
  16. the trick is going to be finding an awesome artist. Don't just settle.
