  1. @UglyButProud = trust this is your sad part of the story - but - how special is it that you got to actually MEET all these folks . . . - - - Updated - - - this would fit into the "regret" part of the thread - back around 1976 - while living on a serviceman's wage, somehow actually saved the funds, made the arrangements took the subway (+ more) from Manhattan to White Plains and got a piece on my back from Spider Web. Given the pre-internet age combined with me being a post-hippie (fill-in-the-blank) sun-worshiper - I gave the artwork hell, and over the years it suffered accordingly. To make matters worse I THEN let some hack tattooist convince me he could bring it back to life. Needless to say the mistake was made - and I permitted destroying what was left of an eclectic piece of history. Embarrassing and a crushing shame, to say the least. I've since covered up the resulting abomination. I love the educational properties of the internet . . .
  2. Latest new label I heard last time I was there was "Lumbersexual". Had to laugh.
  3. [ QUOTE=$originalposter]{$pagetext} Hooper is doing my left leg. Dreyfus is the scheduler. I don't know what Tony's backlog is like, but it's a great shop. I'll try and get in touch with you upon our next return, 'cuz I'm always up for excellent bbq!
  4. Nice thread @Isotope, and you don't happen to work at Franklin, do you? Our daughter lives in Austin and my 6th session at ROA is coming up June 1st, so we're always visiting. Usually we hit Uncle Billy's while we're in town.
  5. Wifey got hers from Joey Ortega finished up this week . . .

    Hello:)

Welcome - I'd suggest you let it heal and settle in before planning on adjusting it too soon . . .
  7. Indeed^. Red Letter http://www.redletter1.com/ and Chelsea Rhea at Amulet Tattoos

Chelsea does really great work, and she's only been at it 2-3 years.
  9. I don't think that design is going to have a tattoo label - just the Dutch Delft should work as a description (I guess). Any competent realism artist should be able to reproduce it, as well as those who do well with filigree, botanical and such. No doubt a few of our PNW members can head you in the right direction . . .
  10. welcome back, @Kev! Wow, it's old poster resurrection day . . .
  11. Badtaste!! Nice work - and no problem yet with my inner thigh, but we're supposed to start shading on Tuesday, so . . .
  12. Have you seen Jeff Ensminger's work at Resurrection in Austin? Nate Beavers might have fun with that idea, too - if you are heading to Houston . . .
  13. Yeah - and afterwards you could always throw a couple of color accents into the black/grey piece in order to better tie them together, if you think it needs it . . .
  14. what . . . no pictures?!
  15. The design is ok, but the background's similarity to the bird's design might be a bit busy for no color. 100% agree that this acting as a reference for an artist who can pull off something awesome. Hope you're up to speed with how to pick a capable artist . . .

You could always consider adding to the "frogs" thread later on . . .
  17. Right . . but tell my how you really feel -
  18. One of the joys of tattoos is how they move. Distortion, movement and re-proportion is part of what makes them so interesting to look at and watch.
