Who do you think deserves some recognition?
Avery Taylor replied to Iwar's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
Adding to Stewart's earlier post about all of the guys working at Into You around the same time. There was a guy that worked there named Jason Saga. He did a lot of Japanese stuff that was pretty incredible. He passed away a few years ago, but if you Google him you can still find a few examples of his work. I feel a bit weird posting about someone that has passed away, but he was a really good tattooer, and I think that he deserves the recognition. -
Bob Roberts is Bob Roberts, but do not lose the forest for the trees. If you want a good tattoo there are lots of good options in the Los Angeles.

Who do you think deserves some recognition?
Avery Taylor replied to Iwar's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
The guys at the Government St. shop in Victoria all do good traditional stuff. I live in Vancouver and I know quite a few people who have been tattooed there. I met Chris a couple of months ago and he was a really cool guy. I don't think that it can be said enough times. Being nice is huge part of good tattooing. -
I saw his Facebook update yesterday. I think that tomorrow is his first day at Three Kings. I lived in New York for three years, and I know that getting out of your own neighborhood can be a real chore sometimes. If you are ever over in Greenpoint, and you have a little time you should stop in and say hello. Matt is a good dude, and it is always nice to see a friendly face when you are in a new city. I am hoping to make it there sometime in November. If I do I will let you know.

Steve Serazio works there and does great stuff, but it is nearly impossible to find any on the internet. Peter Shankman (I think that is correct) is on this forum and he was tattooed by Bob within the last couple of years. He may be able to help you out. Also Bryan Burk has a shop called Dark Horse Tattoo. They make great tattoos, and you have True Tattoo in Hollywood, and Gold Rush in Costa Mesa. Plenty of good spots to get work from. I wouldn't worry to much about portfolios at any of these places. Everyone that works at them is really good.

I spoke to Matt right before he left Seattle, and he was still not sure where he was going to work. Keep a check on his Facebook account and he will probably post something soon. Also he has an account on here, but I don't know how much he is on it. I don't think that he is much of a computer person.

I am with you Shawn. Anyone that thinks her death is funny can go fuck themselves. I can't say that I have ever had her on heavy rotation, but anytime I did hear a song of hers I thought it was pretty good.

Demian was working the front, and kind of apprenticing when I was getting tattooed there. He is absolutely the toughest looking dude you could possibly have working the front of a shop. There is a lot of talk oh LST about how much people miss when tattoo shops were scary places. It was only about eight years ago, but between Demian and Clay, True Tattoo was a scary place.

I forgot about Deluxe Tattoo. Terry Tweed and Mav Mess. I think they have the original China Sea shop sign.

Artwork Rebels is a good shop, Atlas, Scapegoat, Mr. Tattoo, and I am pretty sure that Scott Harrison still tattoos out of his own place. I think that you can contact him through his website SACS AKIMBO!!!. I am sure there are more good shops there, but these are the ones I am most familiar with.

Hey Ross if you like Jim Thompson you should check out the movie "Coup de Torchon". It is a French adaptation of "Pop. 1280" set in Africa. Great book, and great film.

"On the Road" is not a classic it is a piece of shit. William Burroughs was the only real writer of that bunch. Real classics are books like "Siddartha" and "The Last Temptation of Christ" read those, and then let me know if you are still bored.

Mike Malone Flash...
Avery Taylor replied to William Burgess's topic in Tattoo Designs, Books and Flash
Lucky Supply Tattoo Museum There is some cool Malone flash here. As far as online tattoo stuff this is probably my favorite website. Not counting the one we are currently using. -
I love that shop.

Here are the latest additions. The Tiger is on my wife, the Fudo sword is me, both by Matt Arriola. The Christ is on me by Vinse One. I have three or four sessions left on my back, but Matt is moving to NYC so I won't be getting more work on it until November. All of this work was done within the last two and a half months so now I am broke.

When I lived in Austin I worked at the Alamo Theatre. It is the greatest movie theatre in the world. They run this video before the film starts.

Hey Matt welcome to the site.

I would be very worried, but since I don't know who the artist is or what it is you are getting my opinion is largely uninformed. It doesn't sound very professional to me.
