  1. I'm on Long Island, the south shore about 1.5 miles off the Great South Bay. I'm out of the flood plain so aside from rain and wind, there should be no flooding. Google "captree ny map" and you'll see where I am, just over the bridge to the north. Fire Island has a mandatory evacuation by 2 PM sunday, so the ferries are doing extra runs. You'd have to be nuts to ride it out. All the exotic plants are in, anything loose outside is either in the garage or lashed to the deck off my kitchen. I hope the pool cover stays on, I may stake some extra lines across it later. Did some late food shopping, milk, beer, steaks.. the essentials. No run on anything in the store, lots of food on the shelves. Got batteries, some ice, candles, gas stove and grill outside on the deck, so we should be okay. The prediction is an Irene-ish type of storm. Hittin' the gym around 7:30, after that will see how close I can get to the beach to see how wild the surf is. Rob
  2. We have a dress code, mainly about safety stuff and women coming in dressed like hookers... distracting perhaps (gotta see Steffi in her short leather skirt.... whew....). I'll take another look at it regarding tattoos, but doubt there is anything since the shops are full of inked up people. My wife's job has a real strict dress code, down to what color suits and shirts the guys have to wear. One lady is loaded with tattoos and she was recently told she has to cover them up. So long sleeves and dark panty hose it is. Rob
  3. I'm around the same amount of hours of chair time, only been shot twice though, one a graze and the other I took the bullet. Had one major car accident that sidelined me from 1978-1983, another car accident in 2011 resulting in a nagging back injury. Any escape I can get from day-to-day pain, I'll take it. Better living through chemicals. Rob
  4. I don't know how much they adhere to the time limit thing, if its 4-real or just for the show. Most of those big tattoos look like they should be in 2 sessions. In the end, they're getting something for nothing... you get what you pay for. I look at any tattoo on me and there may be some imperfect lines, but can be touched up. Some of the shitty lines I see pulled on that show, there's no hope for fixin' them. And some tattoos I see on the show have tons of shitty lines in them. Rob
  5. I know shit about lasering.. how much does it hurt after and how virgin is the skin when it heals? I would have just gotten the tattoo touched up. Wonder what the reason was behind the decision. Rob
  6. Getting tattooed for all the wrong reasons... 1/2 the fun is having them under wraps and showing them to whom and when you want. Rob
  7. My last tattoo in May, I ate 2 percosets on the way. It takes the edge off... I also take them for a legit injury. I had a 3rd maybe 1/2 way through it. I really don't think it made a difference with the tattoo pain, I do it just to make sitting in the chair easier. Rob
  8. Nice portfolio, what shop do you work at? I'm on LI myself. Rob
  9. My son is in a band... better than these guys. But the same type of music in general. He was in a 3-piece heavy metal band when he was 15, that was a great band. I'm not a fan of the moshing and stage diving, too easy to get hurt.. what happened to the days where we just sat in the seats and smoked our brains out all night.. kids these days.... Rob
  10. I'm Rob, age 57 from Long Island, NY. Married for 29 years, have 2 boys age 24 & 20, have 1 cat age 4. Former auto mechanic turned machinist, got a few Engineering degrees and work as a tool designer for a large company and still dabble in machined parts on the side. Former local stock car builder and driver for a few years back in the 1980s. Current hobbies are model car building, gardening and weight lifting. Got my 1st tattoo at age 22, that has been covered up 2X.... added a few more and took a break from 1982 to 2004. Since then, went from 5 tattoos to 11, had some old work done over/covered up and new work from scratch. Always have the next 3 tattoos planned out and constantly looking for new ideas.
  11. I tell everyone... your tattoo is at its best in the first month after healing, then its all downhill from there. Unless you have skin like an albino and never see the light of day... no guarantee there either. Rob
  12. Funny, I can't ever think of seeing a local cop with a visible tattoo. I know that the US military isn't great about inductees coming in inked either. Rob
  13. "Sympathy for the Devil" excerpt... "every cop is a criminal".... Probably the cops have better tattoos maybe? Rob
  14. I carry a Mercator K55K. Gotta make sure you get the German one, there's Chinese knockoffs floating around. World Knives: Mercator German K55K Cat Folding Pocket Knife - K55K
  15. This was up high maybe 1" south of the collarbone. Pretty bad when you tap out for a break every few minutes when you're on the paying end... Rob
  16. I just went back and looked at the comments, LMAO.... imagine their shit work that didn't make the grade... gotta be some bizarre out takes..... Rob
  17. She needs someone well-versed in cover up work to have a look at it. I think it can be improved upon. Rob
  18. And the sick fkcu wearing it is probably among us here, lol. Rob
  19. The artist I use is a lady and she was approached for a "tattoo wives" show. It was to be another dramatized offering and she declined. I never heard anything more about it. Rob
  20. I was on the beach a few months back and my wife points out these very heavily inked guys to me... no sun tans on them, but definitely jailhouse ink galore. One has this swastika on his lower back in negative space.... not a cool thing to be flashing in public. Well done though, if it was a prison tattoo. Rob
  21. The last time I was.. er... detained against my wishes and formally booked, there were many pictures of gang member tattoos on the precinct wall... I asked like I was hurt.. "you don't want any pictures of my ink?"... they thought I was serious. Rob
  22. Shading with a liner.... that in itself is scary as shti. Anyone that lets someone like that near them is about to get a cheap lesson in how-not-to-get-inked. Unfortunately, some people flat out don't know any better and the lure of a $20 tattoo sucks them right in. Rob
  23. Sounds great... maybe a whole thigh piece... nah, start him off with something a bit smaller. I'm trying to talk my dad into getting a USAF tattoo on his arm, but he's balking.. then again, he's 95.... Rob
