  1. Thanks for the offer, I appreciate it but think things will loosen up here between today & tomorrow. I see cars parked all over... obviously out of gas while trying to find some. I took today off for a couple of appointments and will see who has gas when I'm out and about. I looked at a bunch of generators online. There are hybrids for well under $1000 that run on gas, propane or NG. The main thing is having enough gas line volume to feed both the generator and my heat. I have an empty 40 amp slot in my breaker panel. UPDATE.... I got gas! Waited 45 minutes and filled the car up. Now I'm gonna go wash it, looks so bad.... Rob
  2. I should have bolted out of here to get gas earlier this week, but no sense in burning a 1/4 tank each way doing so if there's no guarantee they got gas when you get there. What I am doing for the future (can't even buy a 5-gallon gas can right now...) is to have 4 5-gallon cans of gas on hand for the next hurricane of this size. I'm also looking to get a generator that runs on natural gas. I converted my house 3 years ago from oil to NG heat. My brother in law was over before, he's an electrician and says it will be a cinch to do once the gas line is run for it. Rob
  3. Jerky City got whacked, over 1/2 of Hoboken is a water park. My son's GF works there, the place is submerged and probably won't reopen. My dad (age 95..) is out in Westhampton and they all had to get out. I picked him up last Sunday and he's staying with my brother. He's doing okay, but when you take old people out of their familiarity zone, they sort of lose it. Still no gas available and people waiting on lines outside of closed gas stations out of desperation. Rob
  4. We're thinking about buggin' out here. Got family in New England... but once we're there we may have to shovel snow.... I have heat and electric, but a big storm can change that. Rob - - - Updated - - - NYC is full of some real tough people. They can endure almost anything. The problem with the power is that the sub-stations that feed everything else took on water and are heavily damaged. First thing they gotta do is bail out the hundreds of thousands gallons of water. Rob
  5. Lots of people only get tattooed ONCE in their lifetime. Maybe this is it for them. You see the people around... one little fading washed out tattoo on an arm, maybe on their ankle. No plans to get it freshened or slap something awesome over it. Rob
  6. Thanks. Kind of surrealistic out there right now. And its supposed to get cold... no fun when you got no electric and heat. Rob
  7. True, any art is up for grabs once it hits the internets. A continuation of the guy who invented the wheel.. still getting fucked in any way imagineable. Rob - - - Updated - - - I had a tattoo done back in May. It was something I saw on a site that makes stencils for airbrushed tattoos. I emailed the site owner, asking him if he had a line drawing of the stencil, which I offered to pay him for. He sent me back a real good picture of the finished product, all he wanted in return was a shot of the finished tattoo. I imported the picture into my CAD program and fixed it up quite a bit, then I printed it out and it was used for the stencil. I would have felt funny about it if I had blatantly ripped off the design. Rob
  8. Funny... and I'm smack in the middle of the shit... gotta love a good laugh. Rob
  9. Thanks. People are starting to take on that 1000-yard-stare thing.... they must be the ones in bad shape. You can buy gas if you want to sit on a line for 3 hours. People slept in their cars at closed gas stations, still no guarantee they got gas when the morning comes. I'm okay until Wednesday or so, then I have to stay home from work if I can't feed the car... (build model cars.. drink beer.. repeat..). 100,000 local houses and businesses destroyed, not sure if those are total losses or not. Around 500,000 without power and they'll be lucky to be hanging Xmas lights in some areas. The National Guard is around to keep order. Supposedly there are tankers somewhere giving out free gas, the new 4th biggest lie.... The stores all have food, looks very normal in the supermarkets.... correction on the food thang.... just got back from buying some odds & ends to get through the weekend. Eggs... there ain't none. Selection on many items is way down. Seeing some empty spaces, this should get better in the next few days. Rob
  10. An open-ended question posed by the clueless. I bet most who ask that have no tattoos at all. I'm workin' on mine, one session at a time. I wish I had the time and $$ to schedule it all in. Rob
  11. Yeah, but where else can you KNOW when and where a train wreck will be? Good ink.. few and far between. Again, the canvases are gettin' what they paid for... Rob - - - Updated - - - Like slapstick comedy, 'cept this shit ain't funny.... russian roulette with a tattoo gun. Every week there is one less gun. But the chances of getting a good tattoo do get better. Rob
  12. I'm sort of fornicated for time now and the ill-timed blow job (Sandy...) was no help. Keep on throwin' put dates, I'll keep watchin'. Rob
  13. I have power at home, really only lost it for maybe 6 hours while we slept. Got some clean-up done yesterday, broken branches, leaves all over. Work is closed... no power to my building. I showed up, signed in and then left, should get paid in full for the day. I'll give it another shot tomorrow. One local area by the Bay, over 100 houses demolished by the storm surge. Pictures in today's paper paint a grim picture (funny how I managed to get the daily paper delivered to me even in the hurricane..). Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn took a hard hit. 100 houses burned in Breezy Point Brooklyn, this is west of Coney Island. A very exclusive seaside community. The Fire Island barrier beach (last stop between the mainland and ocean) has a new and possibly permanent inlet out east. Local Fire Island beaches are a total washout in many of the fields. Again, I have it better than most and my house is open for friends to shower, get warm or stay over. My camp stove is lent out, no takers on the tent, so far. Rob
  14. US flags have to be dead-on, no room for creative interpretation there. And they all blew it to varying extents. Rob
  15. I hear that too... I'll show those fkucers a mid-life crisis.... You are really better off getting your ink after 50, so whan you're 70 it will still look pretty good. I took a long break and got back into it when I was 50, have added a lot of ink and got some old stuff freshened up and I'm 57... ain't stoppin' now. Rob
  16. Any artist I've discussed the show with said its not doing the tattoo industry any good. Some artists have their own niche and that's what they do. Forcing them out of that with lots of pressure behind it isn't good for tattooing. Getting a couple of tattoo artists to back that up, they've sold themselves out. But, hey, they're TV stars now... Rob
  17. Like with the first season, you know early on who is the cream of the crop and who is the cream of the crap. They won't be in the final four. Rob
  18. Pretty snarky.. both tattoos in the video are realllyyyy close to her artwork. I'd figure that Spike TV would have an army of lawyers to go over everything before it gets put on someone, but probably not very realistic in execution. Which is the problem in posting your art on the internets.. its really up for grabs. She really should sue the balls off anyone involved. Rob
  19. We have a number of local scratchers around here doing shitass work for low buck$. I think there may be some status among younger people having real cheap work done on them. And they find this acceptable. I just think they know jack about what a good tattoo really is. Rob
  20. This is exactly what I did. Chest tattoos define the dedicated and hardcore tattoo addict, don't look back. Rob
  21. I work for a Fotrune-300 company with about 600 employees in the area.. they're funny about a plant closing since that's on their dime. Monday we were open and I put in a full day. They announced the Tuesday closing, so that they pay for. I'll call in on Wednesday and see what's what. Got power here, a messy yard and about 5 sections of fence to pull down & call the insurance agent. Rob
  22. You're all set.... I picked up a 30 pack of Bud (local supermarket special...), plenty of wine for those who like it already on hand, most of a quart of Smirnoff Vodka, tomato juice, celery. Got about 100 percosets to fall back on if things go really bad. Everything outside is about as good as it'll get. I fully expect to file a homeowner's insurance claim, so if the fence doesn't come down, I'm pullin' the fkucer down. Some wind now, a little rain. Have a call-in number at work so no idea if work is open until I call at 6 AM. Rob
  23. Not a bad looking tattoo either.... after the lasering is healed, he'll still have lots of $$$$ in his pocket, maybe a spot on Oprah or Dr. Phil (he's phil of shit...). Rob
  24. Oh snap... my back fence may not make it, gotta go out and slap a brace on it. Thanks for the reminder. Doing the last minute preps. Pretty calm here so far. Both of my kide are out of state, one in CT and the other in NJ... had to call these nitwits to tell them to head home ASAP... Rob
  25. Looked at all of them... had quite a range from flat-out bad, to eh-so-so to quite good. Not the mark of a good artist, and if you suck at script, don't do it. Rob
