  1. I tip every session. Maybe around $40-50 on a $240 sitting, I don't keep track. If the ink comes in under what I thought it was going to be, I tip bigger. I'd say that probably at least 1/2 of people getting inked, they don't tip. Prolly out of ignorance. Rob
  2. How's this? My son shows me a tattoo he got maybe a month ago.... hiding ink from me? And it wasn't his 1st, everything else I saw right away or was there when he got it. Rob
  3. Shit.. I seen better looking brands on cattle.... Rob
  4. I use this Neutrogena 45 product I get at Target, 2 tubes for around $12. It works really well and stays on even in salt water. I will try the Coppertone product when I run out of the Neutrogena. Rob
  5. Ugh... hangovers.... I thread the needle between good and buzzed and feeling like homemade shit the next day. I utilize the 10 & 10 rule. No more than 10 beers and stop drinking before 10 in the evening. Works every time. But if I get an early start, it may be modified into the 15 & 10 rule. - - - Updated - - - It was a good night, dipped deeply into the percocets as well so it was a good compound-buzz. Rob
  6. To quote the late-great Lenny Bruce... "thrill hammer". Rob
  7. A rainy cold night here... too wet out to walk out & take a whiz off the back deck, but just perfect for whizzing directly out the back door....
  8. My skin-flint cheap mofo brother in law is like that... how much did that cost you... He always seems to know someone that will work for $75 an hour. I asked him is that why all his tattoos look like shit. Rob
  9. I just collect a shitload of what I want in the tattoo and bring it with me. It can be from tattoo or art books, images from the internets, etc. For japanese style, look up things like wood block prints, silk paintings and just oriental art. Rob
  10. I was gonna do some posting last night, loaded on pain killers, wound up in my recliner out cold with the cat sleeping on me... maybe next time. Rob
  11. How bubbly is it now? If you still have a lot of discomfort, see a doctor or dermatologist. Rob
  12. I quit almost 29 years ago and remember the place and time of my last smoke. I was beginning to suffer worse with asthma, so it was do-or-die for me. I still like that smell when someone lights one up near me, but I've never even had a puff of one since I quit. Rob
  13. I can think of maybe 2-3 artists I'd trust with a portrait. Even ones from otherwise good artists that I've seen.. eh.. not so good as I'd have hoped to see. Rob
  14. True, I used to know that I was going to spend either $25 or $30 on my 1st tat.. and knew zilch about tipping. I know one shop that has flash posted with prices, a definite throwback to the old days. Rob
  15. I never know what my session is going to cost me ahead of time, so I bring roughly double of what I expect it to be. Sometimes it runs later especially if we're on a roll with something. Rob
  16. I'm glad you feel better.. nothing like having deep meaningful conversations with Ralph O'Rourke... The flight... it started out normal until we took off. All of a sudden, we knew that someone cut the cheese... it hung around and dissapated after a few minutes. Of course my wife 2 rows up was looking back giving me dirty looks... not me dear... Then another one, much worse than the first. It seems that this lady in the 1st row had disqualified... badly. The flight attendants moved people back, best they could. We got off the plane and I could still smell it on me, got home and the same deal. All our clothes went into the wash, showers for all. Rob
  17. Winter Vomiting Virus... sort of has a nice ring to it. Unimagineable especially if you have to travel with it... ask me sometime about being stuck on a flight from Charlotte to LI with a lady 2 rows up that crapped herself... Rob
  18. I've thought about what happens when they draw on me with pens and sharpies, so far no bad reaction. If the benadryl doesn't help, srsly see a doctor. Rob
  19. I like walking into a tat shop with a pocket full of $$$ so I know it'll cover the whole deal, in case that 2-hour session runs 3 or more. I carry my cash (don't carry a wallet 99% of the time) in my front pocket of my jeans. Rob
  20. 9 hours for that.... I can see 3 hours for the ink and 6 hours on the crack pipe.... Rob
  21. There's another thread of him here someplace.... he even makes the douchiest of us here look sane.... Rob
  22. Hipster was a term to describe beatnik types MANY years ago.... kinda went out and back in... only now with a far less desirable connotation going with it. Rob
  23. I always have paid cash, even if I have to hit my (no charge) ATM on the way to my appointment. The shop I go to takes credit cards, although they don't advertise it. I like the traditional ritual of peeling off a stack of greasy $20 bills to settle things up. I know of one shop that has an ATM in it. This place is jumpin' all the time with an army of artists and piercers to keep it going. Rob
