Ever been called a tattoo snob?
Colored Guy replied to lving4today's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
I'm hardly a tattoo snob and most of the local shops are quite good. As long as the tattoo basics are there, good solid line work, solid color, etc, the rest comes down to the wearer of the ink being happy with it. I've seen some really bad artwork in an otherwise well-executed tattoo. I saw one on the beach last week on a lady's back... a huge tat....an overall crappy tattoo in style and execution. I'm not one to pick apart someone else's ink, unless they ask my advice.. what can I do with this? Some opt for a cut rate deal in a hole in the wall shop and get whet they pay for. CG -
With tattoos I believe in, go big or go home. Just as easy to hide a 1" butterfly as a 10" fu dog on my forearm when I'm dressed for work. CG

Thinking of joining... would love to have the bat logo on me somewhere. I have a tattoo book that has tons of the BTC work in it. All I gotta say is that artwork has come a long was since. Undeniably one of the greatest tattooing influences of all time. CG

Post awesome things you have been doing recently

I do machine shop work on the side.... I had been working on these really close-tolerance parts for a another shop over a year ago. It turns out that some of them are on the Mars craft that is actually now on Mars. How can you beat that? I found out about it last week. CG -
Steel Reserve... don't care for the taste, but the content is around 6%. OE has been one of my favs since last summer... one place had it for 89¢ a can with those orange price stickers.. plastered the stickers up and down the arms of my beach chair.. as luck woukd have it, the beach chair shits the bed on me and i had to chuck it. I saw it 2 weeks ago, had a head full of Percosets and would have probably grokked over Heidi or Ishtar.... gonna have to see it again, maybe they'll have it where my wife gets her nails done.... 5 bucky... win, win. CG

I've taken my dress shirts into my tattoo appointments just to make sure my new ink wouldn't show at the cuffs or with the collar open. CG

Easy there... the 2nd koi on my forearm.. I needed a big cover up and it was a perfect fit. The other one is on my chest and the only people that see it are those on the beach.. call me a koi fish snob. CG -
Well.... maybe being eye-candy tips the scale in your favor at your current job. Not that I'm knockin' it... CG - - - Updated - - - I had that happen last year, good thing I had on a dark shirt and I was the only one to notice it. CG

Pretty young to be a total douche.... I had to work at it! CG

Pretty sad on the "artist's" end and on the person being tattooed who sat there for it. CG

I have a small lizard on one foot, haven't thought about the other foot really. I would keep them about the same size so you wouldn't look like you were gonna fall over... balance is everything, Danielsan... CG

My son got a great panther head done here out on the Island, the hard part with panthers is finding the artwork, or someone who can draw one up and do it justice. We worked with one he saw online and came up with something he was able to take to the shop I use and they did a great job for him. CG

I've been working with people for 20 + years and they got no clue I'm inked at all... I do run into people from work at the gym and beach and its an OMG moment for them.... joke 'em if they can't take a fkcu. CG

Most painful spot to get tattooed
Colored Guy replied to Lochlan's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
I was fine on one side of my chest, the other was pure hell at the 2-hour mark. Same artist and they were done about 3 weeks apart. Felt like chewing on my belt it was so bad... took more than a few breaks. Might have had something to do with having to lay in a lighter color. CG- 1,060 replies

I collect plastic model car kits and build a few now and then.. as well as a shitload of aftermarket parts for them. I was a big dealer on evilBay until their fees got ridiculous. CG

Still beats L.A. Ink, aka Drinkin' & Inkin... where the tattooing content is about 45 seconds. CG

Best Ink blew dead rats compared to Ink Masters.. which wasn't that great. EVERY "reality" show has a host that is the bossy little girl. If you ever had the misfortune to play house with a girl from down the street (when you were a little kid...) you know what I mean. The little brassy bitch that sends anyone home that pisses her off. That's Dave "oooo, I got $50, let me get another tattoo" Navarro to a T. CG

I was thinking about getting one regarding where I work, simply "XYZ Corp, Enter Here", but the fkucing place has a new name every 6 months or so. CG

I have this fu dog that needs a freshening. Its on the inside of my forearm, from wrist to elbow. That's my next ink happening, probably in the fall. My artist is dying to do it and we've already discussed colors and other details. Looks like 3 sessions and the ultimate goal is to get the forearm sleeve completed. CG

I started at age 22, stopped at 26 and took a 24 year break. Had some old work freshened up and expanded on, a couple of cover ups for old work gone bad and some entirely new ink. Which I'm glad I did it this way, shouldn't need any of it touched up until I hit 75 or so. CG
