  1. Only some parts of my chest were bad.. might have been when she was laying in one of the lighter colors... I did thing seriously about gnawing on my belt. The pain was in the blow torch range. Rob
  2. It has a range to it... barely acceptable to kitchen magician quality... or lack of quality. That's why I like to see all the artists work in albums when I go to check out a shop. One local place, I'd never let the owner tattoo the inside of my dog's ear. The other people in the shop do nice consistent solid work. Rob
  3. Most parents come around after a while. My dad still has made no comment about any of mine, my mom was a big tattoo fan. Way cool that yoor dad is breakin' his ink cherry, any idea what he wants? Rob
  4. I've walked in and right out of new shops where the vibe was bad or they didn't know how to treat a customer. I'm not the most PC person in the world, but I put on my company manners when I'm out whether it be Ace Hardware, Petco or in a tattoo shop. Some shop owners are unaware of the first impression thing and wonder why business sucks. Rob
  5. I'll say... the word was out before the last show was up that they were scramblin' to find "artists" for this season's show. Rob
  6. Romney easily held his own last night. For the small business, the trickle-down shit isn't working, it has to go the other way. He has to really pull some of the key states to pull it off next month. I don't think we can stand another 4 years of the stuffed suit, unless the world ends in December, I'm packed and ready to go. Rob - - - Updated - - - I'm one of the few who remembers that, lol. Rob
  7. On top of my back injury.. my neck is also a tad on the fubar side. Rear squats are out of the question right now. Any 10 x 10 squat would finish me off, unless I backed off the weight I'm used to doing. Rob
  8. Fucked up priorities... will bite you on the ass every time. And how much more does it cost to have a quality piece done? Unless you're going to a kitchen magician. I just make the appt at my usual shop, come with a pocket full of $$$ and it takes what it takes. Rob
  9. GVT is pretty sick shti.... not for the casual BB dabbler. I'm a bit beat up now with the back injury, but will still superset on those rare good days. My wife doesn't care how big I get, I just went to an XXL dress shirt. You can't go wrong working GVT on legs, most guys sort of pass them up. Rob
  10. Mine are the cheapest shit plastic ones... I had 2 but 1 got disappeared on me. Nothin' classy about mine. Rob
  11. You try Tattoo Johnny? I like looking at some of the stencil sites and get some good ideas from them. Rob
  12. I have one too... pisses off the wife and I drag it out now and then and put it up on the front lawn. Rob
  13. This is a good possibility. They haven't seen that many tattoos of any type and go with a lowball price at the first shop they come to, probably on Walk in Wednesday, lol. Rob - - - Updated - - - Hmmmmm... those would go great with my lawn-flamingo decor.... Rob
  14. I was with a friend who has a ton of old work on him and this random lady says to him, "you look disgusting". He replies, "you obviously have no mirrors in your house". The husband walks over and starts to say something, wisely takes his hag by the arm and walks off. Rob
  15. Not the same tattoo for sure, photoshopped maybe.. who knows? Rob
  16. Good advice, I almost never drink during the week when I have my MWF routine going. It does make a difference. Rob
  17. As bad or worse than kids is the wife or girlfriend who sits outside in the car and honks the horn... I saw that twice. One would come in every 5 minutes and say something nasty to the husband or whoever he was and stomp out. Rob
  18. Not sure what a pound or a quid conversion to toilet paper is lately.... everything is relative. £5 back in the day may have been a week's worth of wages and everybody's overhead was dirt cheap. Rob
  19. I'm not a fan of having an unknown (to me) artist working on me at a convention or anywhwere. At a convention, there is no allegiance to the client like you have when working from a shop. I don't know how widespread the problem is. Call me old school, but I still like a solid outline and the color filled in well. Any sizeable tattoo I've ever gotten has needed a touch up here and there. And nothin' looks better than a month-old healed tattoo, its all downhill from there. Your results may vary. Rob
  20. They're okay to me... I'm pretty much the anti-beer snob. Got turned off by hangin' with people who stopped at a few Samuel Adams or some other yuppie beer and called it quits. Meanwhile I'm pouring down a six of Bud 1/2 quarts just to cut the dust. These people know dick about drinkin' themselves sober. Another plus to bringing inferior suds to parties.... nobody is gonna touch it, maybe the college kids will hit on PBRs if I bring them. But it doesn't stop me from grabbing a few of their designer beers. I drink 'em fast so they gotta be looking right at me to catch it. CG
  21. Something good may come out of it.. ya never know. I don't think the general public has a clue as to what goes into the whole process. All they know is what they see on shows like "Drinkin' 'n Inkin'", 98.5% false-drama and 1.5% spent cramming an 8-hour tat into a 45 second slot. I have yet to see a tattoo show that does the industry any good. CG
  22. I'm still doing the doctor thing from my 2011 car accident and was in for ultrasound therapy at the chiropractor recently. The technicians, all cute ladies.... ask about mine and tell me they want to get some. Another time over the summer I was an an outside engagement party and all the young people were asking what shop I go to.. nothin' but good compliments. On the beach, some of the older ladies fuss over me and check them out, ask me what they mean, I tell 'em its mainly about the artwork. CG
  23. I really don't catch too many people checking out my ink.... or maybe I don't notice. I'm kinda on the big side and have cultivated a serial killer look over the years. I don't wear sleeveless shirts when I'm around town, only around the house, gym or beach. Everyone on the beach loves tattoos though. Tons of people in my gym are inked up too. I mainly hang out with my own kind, colored people. CG
  24. Pretty shitty work in general.... Jay Dees is the only decent portfolio there. I'd never get a portrait on myself. There's very very few artists that can do one justice. CG
  25. From what I've seen of British tattoo history, aside from sailors, most people had them covered up. I have a book of tattoo pix and they have a big collection of the British Tattoo Club.... lots of people look like bankers or doctors. CG
