A tattoo take 4-6 weeks to heal. You won't know what it's going to look like until then. NO tattoo is perfect. If you go over it with a microscope you'll find things "wrong" with it and make yourself miserable. Look at the big picture when looking at your tattoos. It looks good to me.

If you're new to healing tattoos best to do exactly what your artist told you. Once you've had a few you'll get a routine down that works best for you.
But yeah, generally they say aquaphor for the first 2/3 days, VERY light coating, then switch to a fragrant free moisturizer.
But again, best to go by your artist's directions.

Heya! I recently got a new tattoo, full side leg, first color piece. I found this place when looking for aftercare info and I enjoy it very much. I have a number of other tattoos dating back almost 20 years (back, upper arms, chest, thigh) and they're all black/grey. Off to read/look at amazing pics!

Been a longtime tattoo admirer that finally got the stones to get my own done about a year ago. Love admiring and talking them and might have gotten the itch to get more, so thought I'd join on here.

My name is Justin and I am new to the forum. I am 24 years old and I have 4 total tattoos (all pretty big ranging from 2-5 hours of sit time each). I am actually starting the removal process on one next week to get it covered up with something I enjoy. I have also been dabbling in tattooing on the side with just a starter kit and fake skin (no tattoos on any real skin yet).

Tattoos take 4 - 6 weeks to heal. Until then you don't know what it's going to look like. Cloudy/milky is not uncommon in a brand new tattoo.

My police department’s tattoo policy finally changed... so starting on my sleeve. Have most of my forearm started. I think I’ve shared it somewhere but I can’t remember to save my life.

If I’ve already introduced myself, I apologize. It’s been a rollercoaster.

I'd think anything that ages your skin will age your tattoos also. Maybe not significantly, but it has to have some affect over years and years.

Thanks for the laugh at your expense. Let me ask you a question - do the ovens give you any type of burn (1st degree like a sunburn)? Are you all healed?

yep ! you need to pre-hydrate and the best thing to do when feeling light headed is to eat some candy,
of course eating a good meal before getting tattooed is a no brainer.
that little tattoo should be an easy one,

I heard back from my artist, he confirmed it's blowout which I already knew from you guys, just didn't want to know 😞
He said he should have used a different needle setup, was really apologetic and decent about it.  Going in a few weeks for fix attempts.  I guess thicken some lines, add color around it?  Not what I wanted but what I got.

Small, thin lines on thin, delicate skin are prone to blow outs. Small tattoos with lines close together can turn into blobs.
If you really think he is just blowing smoke, get a second opinion from a really good artist. Don't go to a hack, they'll just tell you they can do it and you'll wind up with a mess. Your next post will be, "Can this be fixed?"

    what blowout?
it really looks like it's healing fine to me.
you have to exercise patience with new tattoos.
hopefully you'll learn to love it.

@Dan is absolutely right: you'll only make matters worse if you try to make "in" into" "&". I just can't see it working.
Small mistakes like in instead of and are livable. Especially considering it's how they sing it?
I would definitely leave well enough alone.
