  1. I'll choose a classic image over a convoluted amalgam of exceedingly sentimental ideas any day. He kept the design pretty much the same with a few stylized differences. If it ain't broke...
  2. Being born and raised in the looped "V", I support this decision. It also makes me think of my friend John, who has the same image, but rendered by Myles Karr.
  3. Hey bud, next time post this in the "How about an art show" thread. It's where we keep these sorts of thoughts/musings/opinions. And honest critique...you need to expand your tones. You need to find ways to use complimentary colors and shades/tones to create separation. Otherwise, it looks like one big blob. Keep it up though, practice and trial and error is the only way you will progress.
  4. Welcome as well. Diamond Club is a fine place to get tattooed. You have so many options in SF/Oakland.
  5. @cibo This is was my father's, which he gave to me.
  6. Today was a good day. My mentor put this fun Bodhidharma on the side of my knee (you can totally tell he started out as a new school tattooer). I then proceeded to tattoo tiny dots on his wife's fingers. No pressure or anything. Jason Setchel - Roanoke, Virginia
  7. I believe @Gregor was referring to the human condition of personal responsibility. Just as @GrayCatLove was noting an extreme situation, so was he. I don't think this conversation needs to go any further.
  8. @beez haha! perfectly acceptable in my book, or as us southern Virginians would say "It ain't no skin off my nose."
  9. Oh good, I was hoping it wasn't something that just my Virginian rear was using.
  10. I still call it bedspread, maybe that is a mid-atlantic thing?
  11. @jayessebee sure does drive fast though! John, you know, I even relate to levels of social anxiety, but you always come off as polite and genuine, and to me, that makes for a good friend. I enjoy the different idiosyncracies individuals hold. I mean, most people who encounter me assume I'm just a jolly bald guy (which doesn't always play well in tattoo shops, but that is how I personally deal with discomfort), but I've got some sass when need be. Thanks for always being rad.
  12. Deano can't do a traditional tattoo to save his life tho. I've seen that shit first hand.
  13. @Graeme, I have hesitated to chime in, and I am glad I did. You said it perfectly.
  14. Homey, everyone else has suggested good folks, but, I would also check out JD Crowe's Ancient Art in VB. Dave Voegeli, Scott Sterling, and Tony Riccio are hot fire.
  15. The very last photo (95) of Steve Boltz tattooing is the shit.
  16. When I designed the layouts in TAM where Ishmael and Dave were essentially having a conversation, I immediately realized I wanted to get tattooed by both of them.
