Yeah I plan on completing a sleeve by the end of the year. I'm going in tomorrow, I decided on a simple eagle on my outer forearm, though I'm open to getting the aforementioned design on my inner forearm.

I'm having major "ink withdrawal" issues!

I'd go for the forearm. With your military history, personally, I'd go with the "Death Before Dishonor" dagger. I've always loved that design, and think it looks great, but by all means get what you want. -

Dude trust me, sooner or later you'll stop worrying. We all do. -

Don't worry about it. In a few months, especially if you get some more tattoos, you'll be laughing about this. -

Oooohhhh yes. I couldn't stop staring at the flaws. Until one day, I just stopped caring about the imperfections and looked at the bigger picture, literally hahaha. Don't worry, you'll get there. -

Around a month. It didn't stop till I got some more. It did teach me to be more careful in the planning phase though. -

Same as you. Nervous, obsessed, pissed. But again, once it sank in that no tattoo is perfect (though some are certainly better than others) it stopped being an issue for me. Seriously, look up pictures of truly awful script tattoos and you'll see that yours is great! -

Ehh I'm not so sure. I was the same way (if not worse) with my first couple of tattoos, but after a while I realized that they're not MEANT to be perfect. Once I realized that and got a few more it completely stopped bothering me. Now I have 13 lol. -
Eh, I've always wanted to be the "cool" granddad anyway

Hey everyone, I'm just looking for some advice on a good forearm tattoo. I already have a rock of ages on my right forearm that you might have seen and I'm trying to figure out what to get on the other arm. One design I particularly like is this classic sailor jerry pinup, but let me hear your ideas! EDIT: I've also though about getting some kind of dagger. What do you guys think?

Hey everyone. I'm just wondering if anyone knows how tattoos with no black in them look after a few years. I know it's generally frowned upon, but if it's a darker color (blue for example) would it last? Something like the picture I attached. I have no intention of getting anything like this by the way, I'm just curious as to how they hold up long term.

That's a nice bright green. Looks great man!

Relax, trust me, no one'll notice that but you. It's a tattoo, not a drawing, they NEVER come out 100% perfect. -
Alright, here's the thing, you got the tattoo, and no, it's not going away completely even with laser. You have two options, you can cover it up with something else, which I don't think you want to do, or you can live with it. I recommend the latter. It's well done, well placed, and it looks good. I get your frustration, but actions have consequences. And trust me, it wont attract that much attention. Maybe it's because I live in an area where most people have tattoos, but believe me, they're not the first thing people notice about you. Good luck on whatever you decide to do.

At first I freaked out. I guess the permanence of it hit me. I also got my first couple of tattoos on impulse. But then I started getting more and before I knew it I wasn't worried anymore. Now I'm 13 in and already planning the next one. The best thing you could do is add to it as others have said. Find an artist who can incorporate it into a sleeve. And no, I don't think it's too big, it's a good size for your forearm.
-
Trust me, I've been there. Everything you just said I felt when I got my first couple of tattoos. I also considered laser which, as far as I know, does work, though results vary. The best advice I got on here was "get more tattoos". You'd be amazed at how soon you stop worrying when you have a few more. I strongly recommend keeping it, at least until it heals completely. I really think it looks good, and it has genuine significance to you. Remember, it could always be a whole lot worse.
-
Sorry for you loss man. I think it looks great. It's clean, and nicely done, and even though it's not quite my style, it's actually among the better "lettering" tattoos I've seen. I'd keep it. Also, it's only been a month, it ain't even healed yet! Give it time, it'll grow on you. Trust me.

That demon in the first pic is one of the best I've seen, looks great!

Well, I finally took the plunge and got a forearm tattoo, and I'm glad I did! Here's my Rock of Ages done by Brian Tiger at Screamin Ink Tattoo in N.J. I've gotta say, this is definitely my favorite tattoo. P.S. I'm sorry if it looks crooked, it's almost impossible to get a good pic of my arm.
-
Going in tomorrow to get my first forearm tattoo! A traditonal cross. This is something I've always wanted, but waited till I had enough tats elsewhere before getting something that visible.
-
No I meant the first guy, the second lion looked great. Everything has nice clean lines, good shading, etc. I'd definitely go with the second guy. Like @Synesthesia said, the first guy's not bad, but he ain't great either. Average.
-
To be honest with you the second guy seems leaps and bounds above the other guy, though I could be a bit biased because I prefer his style. That lion looked a bit...off though. Not bad mind you, there's just something about it that seems off. Add to that the fact that he didn't get back to you on the drawing and I'd go with the second guy. But that's just my opinion.
-
I think it looks great the way it is. It's up to you if you want to change it but I'd say leave it alone. Give it a few months at least. Seriously though it does look cool.
-
Agreed. Although I'm not sure a cover up is necessary here. Due to the simple geometric nature of it, it should be easy enough for the right artist to just incorporate it into a larger design while hiding/fixing the crooked lines. Just my 2¢.
