  1. The purpose of tv production, especially in "reality" shows, is to make you either love it or hate it. Its intentional. If they can stir conversation about their shows, then they always benefit. Its in a humans nature to be curious. So even when people mention how horrible the show may is, that will make more people tune in just to see the horror. Its always easier to push something down a hill than up it, so its purpose driven to make the judges seem careless and reckless as well as all the other controversial stuff like law suits and rivalry, etc.

I've not had cable for a long time and have cut tv viewing way down and recently my converter box crapped out, so that meant zero tv viewing. It really altered my reality in a positive way. And I was only watching a couple hours a day. I'd never tell anyone else what to do, but I'm goin to try make any attempts promote elements of positivity in an effort to make it the thing that is pushed down the hill and not up it.

  2. Well, supposedly "The midwest region consists of 12 states in the north-central and north-eastern United States: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin."

so speaking only of people i've seen their work on folks, rich t at bicknee in coalton-ohio, durb morrison at red tree in columbus-ohio, jay blevins at high street in columbus-ohio, rev chad wells at wells and co. in dayton-ohio, dana brunson at designs by dana in cincinnati-ohio, andy blair at flying tiger in cincinnati-ohio, kori flatmo at plurabella in cincinnati-ohio and john massie who works at five star tattoo in louisville-ky but also works at one of the designs by dana shops so i'll include him in the midwest list.

  3. I've been using a couple different knives for edc for awhile. For the most part they double as my money clip. My favorite is a crkt van hoy snap lock. I like it better than assisted open knives. Its takes a little getting used to how to open it but once you do, it opens pretty quick. Not able to post pics at the moment but I'll see if I can figure something out. So when I don't have it, its usually a duluth trading lock blade. Nothing fancy just a good size for all around and works good as a money clip also. Its one of the few lock blades I've had that I really like and its easy to open with just your thumb. Then I keep in my backpack for work, I've got a small swiss army, a gerber multi-tool (not really a knife but does still have a few blades on it) and a crkt hawk k-at. Then in the car I've got leatherman multi-tool, a large swiss army, an assisted open that a military buddy gave me, and a small hatchet.

  4. @Mr. Smith:

I'm glad you liked it! Yeah he put it on IG about a week after. I've seen a few black and gray of his but nothing this big before. The girl who had the appointment before me had him do a mandala-thing (here it is, found it) and I kind of like the idea of having a really good tattooer with a style of her/his own do something unordinary. Just don't pull them too far out of their comfort zone.

I don't think you'll ever get a good answer to the SOOS question. I'll try with Joel tomorrow but I don't expect anything. I actually asked Jelle SOOS at Stockholm Inkbash, both him and Pedro was there. But he just basically said that "If I told everyone it wouldn't be as cool and mystical, right?"

It's their tattoo gang, they started it way back when none of them was very good, more as a joke but then they turned professional. But the meaning? Your guess is as good as mine.

do you mean what it stands for or what the parameters of inclusion are?

  5. I don't have anything elaborate or too fancy. Mostly older stuff that has a nice warm sound. I use the speaker setup from Eno's ambient 2 album though which I've used for a pretty long time. Its a cheap yet effective way to add a little more atmosphere and a primitive "surround sound" effect.

  6. I might just be a prick, but are you putting one of these "elevate tattooing post" in the 'Random Pic Thread' or the 'Hipster Tattoo Thread"?

Some people like a laugh. plain and simple. If this thread bums you out so much, why are you reading it? Or Did you not even take the time to go through all the pages, found you fell sorry for the scratchers and then decided to knock the dust off the soap box.

So, maybe, you should realize that good AND BAD tattoos help educate. I wish some people knew that every "tattoo shop" they walked into, or every post on craigslist for a tattoo, wasn't gonna "Look like the one's on the TV".

Sorry to be a dick, I'm just following suite.

Nevermind, carry on. Educate on. Best of luck

  7. This thread has bummed me out for awhile, not because of the tattoos but moreso because it isn't elevating tattooing. Its not educating. I don't think anyone would tell their friends/peers/etc about all the worst restaurants in the area if they wanted to answer the question of "what's you favorite place to eat". Nobody would post links to the worst web design or the crappiest album that they're not listening to...I guess I just don't get it. I'm not saying that I haven't fallen victim to it but I think everyone here is above the level of seeking out amatuer efforts for the purposes of entertainment.

I could perhaps, be suffering from the overwhelming negativity of political ads as well as the endless amount of "opinions" and "critisisms" that is the internet. If people put as much effort in doing the good and sharing positivity, we'd all be better people for it.
