Hey...welcome. Get the okay from your doctor first! While some anxiety is normal, if you are super stressed then maybe you shouldn't start with a 1/2 sleeve, which is an ambitious project for a first tattoo. Maybe think about getting something smaller as a test to see how you react and heal. There is no rush in making the decision.

I'm busy healing my new little addition, I got it on my arm and between the easy spot and the tebori the experience was the easiest to date.  I got a Daruma doll which was one of the two things I originally set out to get anyways, I have some rock climbing goals to reach and if I do I'll get the eye blacked in during the Jacksonville Imperial Arts fest.  Pics in a few days once the eye calms down.

@Dan Yeah, knee was ouchy. I am not looking forward to getting it colored in next year! Mike said that it would take 2-3 hours to finish it which I can do but suck factor was a solid 3 on a scale of 5 (3 means it really hurts but not tap out territory!)

Last week I had two days with Mr. Rubendall (1/2 day Friday and all day Saturday). We spent the time doing lining and a little shading over my entire right leg. He added a crane to the back of my thigh and a peony on my knee. The cool part is that he was able to tie in all my other pieces with clouds, water, rocks, etc., so my leg looks 100% cohesive! Apparently, he loves doing tie-in's. And he killed it. Three more sessions to finish over the next several months. I am over the MOON with his work.  

Monji on Thursday.  Unless I see something in his book that is too good to pass up I'll get a Daruma.
 

And I'm back! Had my first session a few days ago, we went for about 7 and a half hours or so and got all the outline done. Was definitely a tough session, the kidneys, parts just below my neckline and the tailbone were all particularly unpleasant. I'm hoping the shading will go a little easier on me.
We're going to add some more at some point so that my ass is covered, probably flowers or some cool swirling wind bars. Next session is another day in about three weeks or so.
I couldn't be happier with how its looking currently, I just wish I didn't have the view intruded upon by the old pieces, still, they'll be gone soon enough! I can't wait to see how it all unfolds from here really.

Well, I'm done, seven and a half hours to line and I'm now I'm at the morning after and feeling absolutely drained. It's incredible though, I'm over the moon with it. Can't wait to get started in a month on some shading. I'll post a picture at some point in the next couple of days over in the backpiece experience thread for anyone that is interested.

I’ve been getting hosed lately when it comes to tattoos. Siebert unfortunately had to cancel his trip to Portland. The Ghost Dragon original I bought from Hoyer was demolished in the mail and returned to him in three separate pieces and I had to cancel my trip back east earlier in the year to see O’donnell. In the wake is all this I’m hoping to have karma come back around. I’m hopefully heading back to California for a new project. I’ll keep you all posted. Pray for me haha.

Five minutes into my shin, I was questioning my life choices. The next four hours were brutal.

All of them were INCREDIBLE, I loved Marius and Marc Nava.  I especially loved Mike Dorsey's too.  I'm still young and working on having the salary to buy tattoos AND art.

I bid on a couple. Ended up with Todd Noble's dolls. Pretty stoked!

Thanks @Dan @SStu @Tsam. I needed to hear this. My guy in Massapequa did my ribs, hip and calf so I at least know how he works. All I know is that after my experience getting my right shin done, I was "Tomo-tized". 🙂
