Welcome, Panda! Sorry it took so long for any of us surly bastards to notice your post-no excuse! So, let's hear about your tattoo plans?!

I gotta rethink that chair-time thing... If I go all the way back to the first pieces by Dale Grande, I probably have more on the order of 50-60 hours on me. One of the shots was a graze, side of the head, (might account for a lot of things!) one was a .25 zip-gun in the lower leg, no major, and one was a .30 carbine round in the hip. That stung. The eye was the best, 8 surgeries, all before the used lasers, before they took it out. You have to experience someone slicing into your eyeball with a knife to truly appreciate fine, quality pain. I wouldn't use any numbing cream or painkiller-type stuff for, say, 3 or 4 hours of work on an arm, but for long sessions on sensitive parts, bring it on!
-
Fuck pain. I don't need to be reminded that I'm being punctured-I've got probably over 30 hours of tattooing on me, I've been shot 3 times, stabbed, cut, beat, stomped, whomped, eye took out, and just generally abused. I can tell you about pain. And I can tell you that if you feel you need pain to make your tattoo a "real" experience, god bless you, you've probably never had any real-live pain, and I hope you never do.

What is the DUMBEST tattoo you've had to do lately?

When I had my ribs done, Nick used some kind of numbing wipe before he put the col;or in. For awhile, all I could feel was that he was doing some damn thing there. As a matter of course, I eat 7.5 of vicodin on my way in to sit, and if it goes longer than 3 hours or so, I'll eat another. When I got my ribs done, I added a 5mg. Valium to that, and yeah...it was like, all beautiful! But hey-I came up in the 60's and 70's, you know, better living through chemistry.

Got my (left) ear pierced when I was 12, and then my left nerple pierced when I was 20. Now, that shit might be normal bidness now, but I wanna tell you, ESPECIALLY the nipple thing was wierd back then! I'm taking 1974, so... Anyhow, my ear was done with a darning needle, I've never had to have it redone, and that whole gauging thing, I don't know, all I can think of is plate-lips. I did the nerple in CCJ with a shoe-nail, sorta making a statement about my (lack of ) level of sanity. Ran the nail through a block of deodorant, then through the nerple, then the same with a piece of string. It's still open today. I've run across some very, um, interesting piercings, and they aren't what I'd get for me, but hey-whatever floats your boat.

Okay... I'm elderly. 58, born and raised in Chicago, specifically on the South Side and later, the collar suburbs. Left home at 13, was put into a "youth home" at 15, got out and roamed the country and points south at just shy of 18. Before I was 21 I had lived or spent hunks of time in Mexico, Columbia, el-Lay, and some other garden spots. Trained as a machinist, and worked in shops for many years, now I sell machine equipment made in Germany, to customers from Brazil to Thailand. Got my first real motorsickle when I was 10, a Sears Allstate 49 cc. My next one was a 1947 Knucklehead that I bought as a collection of parts in a basket and made into a chopper...that was when I was 18. Wrecked it and myself shortly after, and didn't ride again until I bought a Shovelhead in 1977...still got that one, but I don't ride anywhere near as much as I used to did-arthritis and kids and all of that. Anyhow, I rebuild and restore old Harleys on occasion to relax myself. Started putting on my own tattoos when I was what, I think maybe 13, something like that, and spent a good amount of time at CTC watching Cliff Raven and Dale Grande work, and then getting my homemade stuff covered. I have a few tattoos now, but I'm afraid I'm not a general collector-I've gotten all my work form people working at CTC. Dale, Miles Maniaci, Nick Collela, and onoe by Mark Miller. Other than that, I've been into martial arts since I started taking Jiu-Jitsu at the local Y when I was 8. I've boxed for the Chicago Park District, and studied a variety of different arts. I was involved with the same federation of schools for about 25 years, studying and teaching a mixture of arts. Still own my own school, and teach classes 3 nights a week. Keeps me from getting too old. That's about it, pretty boring. I listen to mostly the blues, some of what is now called "classic rock", Hendrix, the Doors, like that, and actually saw most of the name bands of the 60's and 70's play. But my heart is with the blues. What I grew up listening to...kinda schizophrenic on that, actually, listened to a lot of old hillbilly music as a kid, and still do. Not 'country", but hillbilly and rockabilly. Merle Haggard, Jim Reeves, Jack Scott, all that type of thing. Then when I left the house, it was Muddy Waters, Junior Wells, Otis Rush, and Howlin'Wolf. I've sat and had drinks with most of them over the years, back before they were all famous and like that. So now I'm elderly, but I sure can't relate to it. Yeah, arthritis and shit, but hey-basically I'm just a couple of 16 year-olds with a 26 year-old built in for a chaperone. Still getting tattoo'ed, still trying to live life-and largely succeeding. Got divorced a few years ago after being married 35 years, and am now with a Lady that shares my life, my home, and my heart. Have 6 kids to keep me on my toes, from 14 to 25, and an 8 year-old granddaughter that is truly a pain in my, er, that I love dearly. That is all.

Hi Megan! Please accept my apologies for the cretins here who haven't even said hello...myself included! Hope you find much to interest you, and even more to help you get where you want to be.

Well, the actual definition of murder being "unlawful killing", I supose that's reasonable.

On an absolutely non-tattoo related note, I picked up a group of shoulder-mounts the other day, and really don't want to keep them. These are older mounts, probably from the late-eighties. Good condition, but not new. Have two antelope with nice horns, and two whitetail deer with decent racks, one 7-point, one 8-point, neither beam is huge, but they are respectable. Could make a different wall deco for a shop, or??? Not the best pix, what can I tell ya. Would like $100 each for the whitetails, $150 each for the antelope. Oh, and if anyone wants a nice old Paider barbers-chair, the one they are sitting on is circa 1913, and I would let it go pretty cheap.

Oil is clean and the motor is free, but I'ma go through it just in case.

@kylegrey, I gotta agree on that one! Bars are stock, with advance on left grip and throttle on right. Check out all the optional goodies someone ordered it with...jiffy-stand, package rails, all that good shit. Got about ten boxes of assorted parts with it, gent that sold it is dong poorly and wanted to clean out his garage. Gave him his asking price, tho', couldn't see bargaining with the man.
-
The latest addition to the garage...hasn't been fired in about seven years, but hopefully that'll change today or over the weekend. All factory-original, matching numbers 1948 Panhead with factory hack. Ain't too durn many of these on the loose out there anymore.

Hey fuckhead...I had typed a serious reply, but I'ma just let your name and past posts speak for themselves. Josh' work kix ass wherever.

Sounds pretty much like the aftercare instructions that were handed out 40 years ago at CTC! I'm not sure when the move to taking off the bandages after 3-4 hours happened, but when I started getting tattooed, 38 years ago, it was ALWAYS leave the bandage on at least overnight. I'll see, I think I may even have on eof the old instruction sheets around-if I can find it, I'll post it.

Kershaw Leek is a nice, if somewhat overpriced knife. I kinda like CRKT knives, carry an M16 for casual wear, and a K41 Ken Onion Design CRKT for dress use. One thing I will note, if you don't know how to use a knife in a fight, don't even think about it!
